  1. i just got married legally in mexico last week...it was simple and not that much more money than doing the legal ceremony here. i priced them both out for our resort and the difference was about $200. cheaper to me...than asking everyone to pay $1000-1500pp to come.

Karla just quoted me $210/hour which is quite a bit more than I've been reading on here! Now it's got me questioning if it's worth it... honestly...just go to one of the bars with live music! they take requests and seem very accommodating to wedding parties. save some money & still have fun. i have to say one of the best parts of the night was just ending up at the daiquiri bar....unplanned and having the band play for us.
  4. we brought our own boutinerries, wrist corsages and bouquets. you might want to look into that, it's a bit cheaper and if you have an AHR they can be re-used. we got all of our stuff made for under $100, and we were quoted almost $300 if we got it at the resort.
  5. wow lots of great and fun stuff! your wedding party & guests will love it!
  6. well i'm back a mrs!!! totally awesome i ran into cheryl a few times. the wedding was beautiful...i can't wait to see the pictures nora took. hopefully better than the ones from the resort photog. i am not very photogenic and he was shooting up so we both had double chins going on. but we still managed to pick out 10 included in the package and we got 2 extra ones. my bouquet turned out nice. we had dinner at the mediterreano and it was delicious. the table set up was a little weird, and the soup & salad were not what we ordered but we made due. everyone raved about the entree (choice of lemon chicken, or grilled shrimp). afterwards we headed over to the daiquiri bar (akumal premier lobby) as it was right across from the restaurant. orignially we planned on going to the tulum lobby bar but it was too hot to travel across the resort. they had a live band and we danced, threw the bouquet and did the garter toss while there. most of us ended up changing because it was sooo hot and a half of us went to the hacienda/disco later. i'm glad we didn't plan a private reception because we saw a few on mon & tues at the music bar at coba...and no one was dancing. one night it rained really bad and the coba lobby was really packed, so we were telling people to meet to us there. so we moved over to bar where the shows are. well in between is the music bar and a bunch of us and our guests (at different times) went to the wrong spot. needless to say the bride having the private party was not happy. she claimed there was a sign on the door, but it was open. anyways...point being if you don't want people around or accidently coming by i wouldn't plan for that spot. the bride looked more stressed and pissed off than having fun at her own reception. i felt bad for her. i have no major complaints about the trip, or experience but the last couple days the mosquitos were really bad...bring bug spray & after bite. i'm dying right now i must have about 50 bites on me. a few of our guests had some stomach issues and complained about the resort being too big...(we had 42 guests in total and half were at the coba, half at tulum). i feel like i need a vacation now to relax. it was a blast having everyone there but busy trying to find people and spend time with everyone. i'll try to get around to writing a better review soon...with pics. can't wait to see them!

If we don't speak before have a wonderful time!!!! Take lots of pics please! thanks! we are having our ceremony at the tulum gazebo and then we are having dinner at the medittereano (sp?) at coba. we are not having a private reception...we've been there before a couple of times so we are planning on going to the tulum lobby bar and hacienda to party! we are planning a big AHR for May 15th so we didn't want to have 2 formal receptions. i'll take lots of pics...funny even though we've been there 2x before i never actually saw were the gazebo was.
  9. well i'm almost packed...almost ready to go. if any girls want me to find out some info or take pics of anything for them let me know. i'm leaving saturday around 5pm. can't wait!
  10. ok maybe i'll add one extra song then for seating the guests. for my bridesmaids i'm playing 'you're my best friend' - vitamin string quartet tribute to queen YouTube - You're My Best Friend all the songs i'm using are instrumental
  11. great slideshow! they both look beautiful...and you take great photos! i really liked that song too...i'd never heard it before
  12. as long as you don't forget to send them out within a reasonable amount of time (i personally think they should be sent within one month), then wait until the wedding. don't be that couple who waits 5 months or longer to send them out that it's just embarrassing. if you are afraid you are going to forget. make up an excel spread sheet and keep track of who the the gift is from, what it is, when you received it, and when you mailed them a card. it may seem tedious, but it's a great way to remember...as i'm sure you know by now...there are a million things to remember.
  13. quick question about ceremony music for those who brought their own. i was told we need 4 songs for the ceremony...but i didn't think about what would be played before or after? we are most likely not having live music. do they supply the music, or should i bring that too? thanks!
  14. your flowers turned out great! so lucky you have hairdressers going with. that's the one thing i'm worried about how my hair is going to hold up that day! we leave in 7 days! holy crap!
  15. i've been to the riviera maya (90mins from cancun) in june before. it was hot, and it rained a little bit. usually just a quick afternoon shower and because it was hot it was usually refreshing. nothing that lasted more than 30 mins. other than that it was still beautiful out 95% of the time. the area is amazing, lots of sights to see and what's better than being out in the hot when you have a beach, pool & bars around you. if you do consider it...make sure you get a lighter material wedding dress so you don't melt the day of your wedding! good luck!
  16. i say give her the gift bag too. it's a nice gesture. seems weird to give it to everyone else but her in this situation.
  17. hmmmm what about wearing your hair down with the veil for the ceremony, then putting it to the side when you take it off for the reception? i'm thinking if she bought you the gift...she'd be hurt if you don't wear it
  18. wow this is great knowing that some of the resorts were so accommodating with guests with gluten free products. i have food allergies and i'm a holistic nutritionist so i know how hard it is for others for traveling and eating out. i still have issues and i have just recently looked into carrying 'allergy cards' with me to restaurants but was unsure how they were received.
  19. i have to say it does kind of make me laugh now when people say negative things to me. one guy i work with sends me emails of all the drug wars in mexico to remind me how unsafe it is. like i'm going to cancel my wedding cuz of his emails. haha. it is annoying...that's for sure. people always report on the negative...and rarely report on the positive. i just stick to that old saying my mom drilled in my head...'if i don't have anything nice to say then i don't say it all'...i've mastered the smile & nod quite nicely. enjoy your wedding and focus on the positive.
  20. i'm slowly getting to that point...but more or less just keep saying ... 'holy crap i'm getting married in 16 days!' i'm sure i'll be saying that for awhile! it's exciting for sure and well worth the wait!
  21. here's some info i have 90usd day pass for guests who aren't staying at the hotel Special Cocktail Sparkling wine, Beer, Margaritas, Piña Colada - 5 USD /Pers or extra hour 3 USD /Pers National Bar Beer, Rum, Vodka, Tequila, Cocktails, Gin - 17 USD/pers/hour or extra hour: 12 USD/pers International Bar Beer, Tequila, Rum, Vodka Absolute, Whisky JW, Chivas, Regal, Cutty Sark, Cocktails, Gin Beefeaters - 24 USD/pers/hour or extra hour: 18 USD/pers i also emailed you some documents about restaurants for coba etc and the bouquets so
