  1. I tried to get another photographer based on the recommendations here on BDW but everyone was booked. Nonetheless, I would NOT use Photoshop Caribe. Seems to be a bit of scaming and they use the language barrier as mix up in communication. Although I did get some decent photos, that's to my guest I got more quaulity photos. The quality with Photoshop Caribe was no different that a guest with a really nice camera. The only plus is that they did an excellent job with photoshoping the images.

AJ - just keep posting away & you'll get there in no time! Good luck! I also printed on white stock paper and trimmed with scissors. 4. I think 7-months is enough time. It really could depend on how many friends/family you would like to attend..the more time others may be able to save and attend. Or as my FI says if they want to be there they will do there best so plan...and enjoy the planning. I've have 9-months of planning. After the invitations I didn't do any planning for about four months. So contact a TA book your location, focus on your dress and everything else will fall in place.
  5. I love the creamsicle color theme! Wishing you the best.
  6. Congratulations and welcome to BDW!

They recommend registering with the Embassy. When you register, they have a section that ask if you would like to receive email messages. All you will need is your travel dates and passport information. You can register multiple people under one account. Please register with US Embassy in Santo Domingo. Travel registration is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country. Registration allows you to record information about your upcoming trip abroad that the Department of State can use to assist you in case of an emergency. Americans residing abroad can also get outline information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/[/size][/i]
  8. My Dad's was custom measurements and one MINOR issue that a tailor could fit, the lapel button was slight off. My FI got the rack size suit and it fit PERFECT! Also, I just an email today that they now have custom Tuxedo's for $99. That is also a steel for those that wish to go the traditional route. I don't think you can rent a tuxedo for $99. Here is the link: Black Tuxedo [black TR Tux] - $99.99 : Studiosuits.com, Custom Suits | Designer Suits
  9. I noticed your wedding is in 2011, prices will go down as you get closer. However, I wouldn't advise them to wait too long. Also, someone is going to complain about something the entire time! Block it out early. You will have a great turn out I'm sure. My wedding is the end of this month and I just had four people to book. Plus four other saying they will do the same this week.
  10. Cheer up!! This is the most important day of your life. The only two important people are you in and you hubby to be! I understand how important your dress is to you. Try consignment stores to see if there are dresses that fit your budget that you can purchase. As long as you keep in mind nothing will ruin your day...you will have so many memories to look back on! Maybe for you 5th anniversary, you can save up renew your vows in your hometown. You may have money to buy the dress you really want. Please cheer up I really want you to have a wonderful time!

  12. WOW 40! I had a large bridal shower of 40 also! I'm sure you will have so much fun! Well my theme was tropical oasis (hibicus flower was the inspiration of my host). They had flower pots from Target, filled with seeds, hand sanitizer, goodies, cute beach stuff and a hibiscus pen. Okay, that doesn't really answer your questions but here are some tips: (1) search the dollar isle at Michael's and Target for some items that may catch your attention. (2) Surf Oriental Trading they have a lot of luau themed items. VERY Reasonable items, most items are not cheap but if in question read the reviews! (3) Also use some of the same ideas others are using for the wedding reception such as personalize chapstick, candles and cups.
  13. Welcome!! And you will find everything you need here...if not one of these VERY resourceful members can lead you in the right direction. Happy Planning!
  14. I encourage those traveling not only to Dominican Republic but any where to sign up with the US Embassy to get notifications and announcements of activities/alerts in that particular country. I have signed up with U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo and received the attached message. I hope this is helpful for you all.
