  1. Looks beautiful! Congrats on finding your dress!
  2. Congratulations on buying your dress! What a huge relief! I voted for 1 & it's great they'll alter the train to make it something you love!
  3. I just went to David's in Paramus last Fri and bought #1 so of course I love it (The David's in NJ are WAY better than the NYC one - absolutely no customer service there) But, I have to say I like 2, 3 & 8 on you the best! 2 is beautiful & simple, 3 has a cool-factor w/ the single strap, and 8 gives you a great shape! Good luck deciding!!
  4. That's incredible - good for you guys! What a beautiful location to get married!
  5. Congratulations to you & your hubby! She's just beautiful!
  6. So I haven't actually gone here myself, but I have 2 friends who swear by this place. It's one of those places where they spray you & apparently the results are great. They said it lasts quite a while & doesn't streak at all. Seems expensive but maybe it's worth doing before the wedding to try it out. This one's in NYC, but I'm sure there are other places around that do the same thing. http://www.sundaranyc.com/index.html
  7. Congratulations! How exciting - your wedding is coming up soon! Have a wonderful time!
  8. How funny! He usually puts it down, but I did fall in once in the middle of the night. EWWW!
  9. ooohh! Really pretty! Do you have a pic of you wearing it? (& with the whole look?)

  12. Congrats on finding your dress!! It's beautiful and I think it'll look really cool with the halter straps - a little something different to make it your own!

Hey Desi, you're so not an idiot but I totally understand how you feel! When I first started thinking about save the date cards I didn't know what I wanted. Then when we decided to do boarding passes I had no idea where to start so I googled them & found this template: DIY: Boarding Pass Invitation / Save The Date - Aylee Bits She has the template in word & has instructions on how to add text & pictures and to print/cut them out. We followed that template but created it in adobe illustrator so if you use illustrator I could send you the template, but otherwise it's probably a good idea to follow the instructions on the above link. It's actually pretty easy once you download it & see what it looks like. We bought the graphic from istockphoto & unfortunately I can't just post it for everyone to use (copyright issues), but I did put a link up to it in an earlier post on this thread if anyone's interested in buying it too (it won't look exactly the same cuz we flipped the image & changed all the colors in illustrator). But, I'm sure you could find some picture or graphic on the web that you like & could copy & paste into the word template. Does this make any sense? You could start by searching the forum for boarding pass save the dates, there are lots of other templates & graphics from other people & you might find something you could use without all the confusion. (sorry!) Good luck on the hunt & feel free to PM me if you need more help!!
  14. Hi Courtney. We got our cardstock for the boarding passes at AC Moore (Like a Michaels or Joann fabrics). It was like $17 for 50 or 100 sheets & it's white & textured. It wasn't really what I wanted but it was all they had so we went with it. We bought the envelopes in the "peace" color & metallic paper for the ticket jackets at paperpresentation.com - we picked the lagoon color & it's pretty reasonable ($13.50 for a pack of 50 for the paper & $5.95 for each set of 25 envelopes) Metallic Paper 8 1/2 x 11: paperpresentation.com The graphic we bought at istockphoto.com. When you want to buy something from them each graphic costs a certain amount of credits. You can buy 12 credits for $18 and that particular graphic costs 5 credits. Hope that's not confusing. This is the actual one we bought & then changed it a bit. Ocean Sunset Background | Royalty Free Stock Vector Art Illustration | iStockphoto.com Basically you need a computer geek (like my FI!) to re-work this stuff in adobe illustrator. He's for hire if you're interested.
  15. Thanks so much for the nice comments everyone! We're mailing them out tomorrow so hopefully we'll get some good feedback pretty soon.
  16. So I just wanted to say thank you to the BDW forum & to so many of you without whom I never would've even known what a boarding pass invite was! We got so many great ideas & helpful tips from this site & couldn't have done it without all of you that have gone before us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We used this template as a guide for the boarding pass & ticket jacket but FI modified them & made them in Illustrator. DIY: Boarding Pass Invitation / Save The Date - Aylee Bits The graphic we found in Istockphoto & we customized it & changed the colors for our boarding pass. Some of the things we found helpful were to use a small corner rounder to do the corners. Also use a perforating blade to perforate the left & right ends of the ticket to make the stub/staple-here areas. Then after perforating you can bend the left side back & easily round the corners, getting that little cut-out indented area to look right. As all of you DIYer's know this is a labor of love, but I'm so happy we made them ourselves.
  17. We're also planning on bringing a bunch of singles (same as Jessica) for tipping housekeeping, bartenders, wait-staff, spa (if I get my hair done there), while we're there. And, like you, autjo I'm also planning on tipping all of the same people: officiant, dj, bar & wait-staff, photog -- although that's so expensive already I feel like she might laugh at my measly little tip I definitely want to do something for Rebeca too since she's the wedding coordinator & thought about some nice body lotions/scrubs or something. All this extra little stuff to worry about!
  18. Yeah, you DEFINITELY did not miss anything by not going to Macy's. I was extremely disappointed. Terrible customer service - the woman that "helped" me basically said if I didn't know what I want there's only so much she can do. I told her what I was looking for (simple, chiffon, think beach-wedding) and they had like 3 dresses that fit that criteria but they all had some sort of crazy sequins or beading. Then she kept bringing me mermaid style or big poof monsters - I guess b/c that's all she could offer. Anyway, thanks for the info. I may cancel my NM appt & just go to Altier - & I'll definitely ask for Jessica. I'm sure she'll appreciate your recommendation!
  19. Hey Jessica. Are you talking about for the actual wedding package? We faxed in our deposit of $500 (credit card info) to Rebeca back in January for next May, but she didn't put the charge through until the middle of May at which time she sent an email confirming the charge went through & that our date was definitely secured. I'm not sure what she means about not being able to take a deposit w/o the 2010 pricing; in her correspondence to me back in January she said while they didn't have the rates yet for '10 they'd probably be pretty similar so she said she could make the reservation and wait for the rates. Not sure if that helps you, but maybe email Rebeca & ask if you can make a reservation now to hold your spot? For the hotel stay we're using a TA so we gave her our deposit for our room separately from what we sent Rebeca. But, she was able to book us a few months ago for next May so I would think you should be able to book, especially if you're using a TA. Did anyone else have a similar experience?
  20. Jess, it sounds like you guys made the right choice and hopefully you'll be sooo glad that you went w/ the dance floor that it'll be worth the extra $!
