  1. Congratulations Desiree!! Hope you had a terrific day & that you're out celebrating!!
  2. Thanks for the tip, Ash! I have to say I LOVE that pic of you & DH! The water is the most perfect color & it's such a cute shot! Also like referring to us as the DreamGirls.
  3. This is what we are doing: Modern Guest Book Cards Of course it'll be a little different, but that's the general idea. Lisa, I really like that idea. Then when you get home you can put the cards in a scrapbook or album or something. Hadn't thought about having a guestbook, but I may have to do something like that.
  4. Good to know, Jill. Thanks! And thanks, Lauren! I think it's a good idea to offer 2 things. I like that you had the option to choose on your website & cued the waitstaff in by color-coding the ribbons to the dishes - how clever! So, what is everyone having on their menu? Anything decided?
  5. Such a cute dress & amazing price! Does it seem relatively well-made? If so, what a find!! May have to consider them for BM dresses!
  6. LOVE the show - yay it's coming back!! Never saw the Masters show, but heard it wasn't great. I really wish Project Runway would come back to bravo. Love that show too.

    HI from NY

Congratulations Amy! You'll definitely find a ton of helpful info on the forum! Have fun planning!
  8. Hey girls, hope everyone's doing well! I'm not sure how the cocktail hour & reception will last for 5 hrs (for us, anyway) if they "kick" everyone out around 10. I think we're having the ceremony at 6 (sunset is around 8 I guess), that'll prob only take 20 min or so, then 1 hr cocktail (6:30-7:30), & if we get the 4 hours our package includes the reception would last til 11:30. Maybe I should email Rebeca about that. Also Lauren, I posted this question on your planning thread, but thought I'd post it here too in case others are wondering -- I saw on the cute menu you made that you guys had the chicken & steak with marrow/pepper sauce as one of your options. I know it was over a year ago, but do you remember if it was good? And did you choose your menu once you got to Dreams or before? Thanks!
  9. Hey Lauren, quick question - I know it's been a while but how was the chicken & steak as your entree? I've been looking at menu options & am not sure what we want yet but I like the idea of having both. Did you decide your menu before you got down there or after you arrived & met with the WC? Thanks!
  10. Those are so cute! And how great your hubby finished them for you! I know what you mean about the pain of making stuff yourself. I love doing it but it's soooo time consuming & something seems to inevitably pop up to make them take longer than you thought. We're thinking of doing assemble-it-yourself invites - buying the different components & adding some extra stuff to save the headache of designing our own. We'll see how it goes.

  12. Hi girls. We bought an image at Istockphoto.com for our STD's. You can search for all sorts of photos or graphics. Stock Photography: Search Royalty Free Images & Photos
  13. Funny, I actually just got a survey about my experience at DB via email today. I wrote that while I had a good experience in that 1 location, I know a lot of other women who've had terrible customer service, especially with alterations, in stores across the country. I said they need to focus on hiring high-quality professionals, stay consistent across all of their stores, & value their customers or they'll be losing a lot of business. Maybe it won't make a difference, but at least I voiced some of our concerns & we can only hope!
  14. Wow that's come up fast!! You must be beyond excited!! Here's to a wonderful legal day, wedding day & honeymoon! Hope everything is perfect for you!
  15. Just found your thread - those are so cute! They look perfect & I just might have to buy them. Thanks for the review!
  16. So super cute! That site has a lot of cute ones. Did they come in yet?
  17. Great, Desi!! Definitely keep me posted - I'd love to see them! And if I can help at all, please let me know.
  18. I couldn't see the pic, but is this the website? Constantina Bridal - Part of the Benjamin Roberts Family I kept clicking on the "book" pages til I got to Eva. Is it a lace trumpet style? If that's the dress it's lovely!
  19. This thread is really helpful! I sent our STD's today, so that's 10 mo's in advance. We were thinking of sending the invites in Oct which would be 7 mo's in advance w/ a reply-date of 2 mo's before.
  20. Just beautiful!! How wonderful you were able to wear your grandmother's pearls! So incredibly touching.
  21. Congratulations that it's done!! That has to be such an amazing feeling! Can't wait to see the final pics!
  22. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that! It's really good you filed the complaint & I hope they refund your $ for the extra alterations that shouldn't have been necessary in the first place! And there's no excuse for them trying to throw you out of the store; saying they felt threatened. Seriously?!? I actually just bought my dress at david's in Paramus, NJ and wanted to share my experience b/c I was so surprised by how good an experience I had. I had gone to the one in Manhattan once and that wasn't good - made me not want to go back at all, but some friends talked me into trying in Jersey so we made an appt there last Fri night. The store is huge (2 floors) & both the woman answering the phone (Rita) & my consultant (Mani) were so super helpful. I had printed out some of the dresses I like from the website and Mani pulled them all & several others she thought I might like (as did my friends). She gave me a longline bra & told me to pick out whatever shoes I liked (out of the ones they sell) to try on w/ the dresses too. I couldn't believe it - I actually felt like I was in a real bridal salon, not the McDonald's of wedding dress stores (that's what I refer to it as). Anyway, I was there much longer than the hour appt & she never rushed me. The manager came over 1/2-way through my appt to start giving her input & was also very helpful, not pushy, and had great feedback. I love the dress I bought & actually felt really good about giving Mani the sale - she so deserved it. here's my dress, btw: David's Bridal - Allover beaded lace trumpet gown with empire waist and cap sleeves. I just ordered it so I won't know about their alterations for a while, but if there's a problem I'm sure you'll all be hearing from me again. Unfortunately it sounds like there's so much variation in the customer service between stores, with most of it falling on the bad side. They really should do a better job of hiring people who actually like helping women find their wedding dresses (as Mani does) and don't just treat their job like a cattle call. Good luck to you - I hope this gets resolved quickly in a way that you're satisfied with & that your dress turns out beautifully!
  23. Those pics are great Dana! It's nice to hear about bringing a local photog - I know lots of people do this but we don't know any out here so reading your review is really helpful.
  24. One of my best friends from home (Chicago) used them for her wedding dress and our BM dresses. We all lived there so it made trying on dresses easy & they had pretty good customer service in the stores (though alterations were ridiculous). My sis-in-law also used them for her wedding in Toledo & most of the bridesmaids were in OH so we ordered the dresses from the web. The cust service was actually a lot better online. When you order all the dresses to be delivered to one address they give you a deal on shipping. They also offer better prices online than in the stores so I say def go for it!
