TA too steep ??
nibsmom replied to MARIOLA's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
We are having our wedding at the Moon Palace, and we actually didn't really realize it was considered expensive when we booked it. We really only looked at MP...and it was what we wanted so we went with it. We had went to a DW in Jamaica the year before at a Beaches and it was almost twice the price as the MP is per night...so we thought it was pretty cheap by comparison!! However, if it seems too much for you, I would go with a different resort. Honestly, that price seems about right. And I love your BT picture! Woot woot! -
Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue
nibsmom replied to destinationbride07's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Ugh! I have been thinking about this and I am totally stumped on borrowed. Mainly because I'd rather own everything I'll wear in my wedding so I can have it forever! LOL! Old: Well, not sure if it counts, but a string of pearls my mom had made for me in high school...oldest thing I got! I might also look for a blue antique bracelet. New: The dress, shoes, everything else! Blue: My shoes, possibly undies! -
Who hosts the bridal shower?
nibsmom replied to meghanmbm's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Well, my fiance's mother and grandmother decided they are throwing mine. LOL. I don't have a choice in the matter...or I wouldn't have wanted one at all! It's wierd in our situation though because all my family and friends are from MA, and we live in WI...and all his family is from IL. So people are pretty scattered about, and party planning is a little more difficult! -
Decker, I believe the cenote was four or five hours...I can't remember off the top of my head how long the beach one was. I did not ask for a price for just one location, as I really want to do pictures around a mexican town. She said either way the town was on the way to where ever we were going though, so I'm not sure if she charged a ton extra. Good luck! Nina C.

Maggie Sottero Ireland dress
nibsmom replied to Detroitbride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
That is so pretty! I got a VERY similar dress for my TTD. I thought chiffon would look so pretty in the wind/waves! -
LeBlanc - I did boarding pass invitations, so on the last page, I had information about booking flights, and then I put the TA information on there as well. We had three pages total, the first was the cutsie one, the second had a little letter and where to RSVP to, and the third had all the travel information. It's also on our website!

Emaya - The MP was pretty much our first and only choice, but I know some people go with other Palace resorts because they are a little cheaper, and really, some people don't like huge resorts! Tammy Host is the administrator of this forum - you can contact her by clicking on the TA banner at the top of just about every screen. LeBlanc - so jealous. We booked our flights awhile ago for 500 each. They are non stop and out of Chicago though. Chicago is always so expensive. We definitely put our TAs info on our invitations, and on our website. We really are not offering our guests any other choices, so anything they do differently will be what they come up with on their own. Hopefully no one will. We'll see!!

Ummm...any GOOD groomer would know how to work with any dog to calm him/her down and get through the grooming, ESPECIALLY with a good natured dog like yours sounds like! I would go somewhere else. I would be SO pissed. Believe me, I think my dog is my baby and came out of my womb...people think I'm obsessed. When I told people I was planning on registering at the Boston store, they thought I was talking about a BOSTON TERRIER store, and I was like, why would you think that? And they were like, because you're OBSESSED! Anyone who talked like that about how I raise my dog would get the redhot side of my tongue in .02 of a second. I would call the manager and complain! A LOT! *whew* I'm all fired up right now. LOL!

Taking a break is a great idea! I'm glad you feel okay doing it! I would find something else to immerse yourself in for a while, to balance you out. No one can tip the scales so far in one direction without burning out after a while. Get back into the hobbies or whatever you were into before you started wedding planning to get your spunk back!! And flouncing about in your dress is always a great motivator...*sigh* I wish I had mine!!

I feel like my Wedding Day is being sabotaged!!
nibsmom replied to Cindy&London's topic in Just venting or funnies
I would be SO pissed. Honestly, you handled it much better than I would have, I probably would have lashed out, LOL! I would have uninvited her, no matter how long I knew her for. Maybe I'm not very nice? I didn't even offer people the option to stay elsewhere. I want my group rate perks. *greedy* We really need them, or it's going to get a little expensive! I hope she comes around. Did you talk to her in person? Maybe if she could see how upset she made you, she'd understand a little better. To be honest, I didn't invite friends that I thought would be wanting to just go down to party and be drunk and try to relive their college years. I was pretty selective and only ended up inviting like 5 or 6 friends outside of family. I was afraid of that...and if anyone shows up sloppy to my wedding ceremony I'll flip! -
Important Family Members Not Invited
nibsmom replied to SoonToBeE's topic in Just venting or funnies
I ended up inviting my father, but I didn't want to. I know he won't come though, so I'm not too worried about it. Even if he did come on some off chance, he would not be walking me down the aisle or having a father/daughter dance or any of that crap. We worried for a while that things would be lopsided with a mother/son dance and no father/daughter dance, but who cares? And I'll walk my dang self down the aisle, my dad hasn't been around since I was 12. He's a total alcoholic d-bag. If he sends money though, I might decide to take it, especially since technically he owes me about 20 thousand in back child support. Usually when he sends me anything, I just give it to my sister, who has a better relationship with him. We'll see though! -
That's exactly why we decided to go to a different resort for our honeymoon. It's so close we can take a taxi there, but at least we won't have to see our peeps hanging out while we're trying to be gaggingly romantic in public areas. How big is Dreams Tulum? Is it big enough that you probably won't see much of them?

Hey Cutierosie, my room block is only for three nights, but the rate is good for 3 days before and three days after my room block as well. We got the double for 368 per night. So, the flights would have been from Friday, July 17th to Monday the 20th. I'm honestly not sure what airline it was, I'd have to ask my friends, but I'm pretty sure they were out of O'Hare. I'll find out and get back to you!

Thanks!! Emily Hey Emily! I have the group promotions. I went through Tammy Host, and she really worked that group contract for me! She's awesome! When I saw your post, I got a little worried...so I checked Orbitz for package deals, and it looks like it's about the same price in the long run. A double is a little cheaper on Orbitz it looks like, but you don't get all the free perks that we have in our contract, like free excursions and airport transfers, etc etc. We really haven't said anything or given any information about booking in a different way or at a different hotel. If anyone does, it will be because they do it without us knowing, which I hope wouldn't happen. I think pretty soon, within the next month or so, we will start calling people and asking if they have any questions personally, so hopefully that will help head off any of that as well. Good luck!!

Cutierosie - I'm sorry people are being whiny! I've really not had too many people complain about the price, which is fortunate. When we went to a destination last summer in Jamaica, it was MUCH more expensive. How long are you having your guest stay for? And if you don't mind me asking, what is your rate? I feel like people don't think it's expensive UNTIL they go to book their flights. THEN it's like OMG. I agree - but, I did just have two friends find flights for 299 round trip each. I think with our block option the only option we were given was to pay a certain amount of the total block, because I remember we paid 1750 deposit. However, it all went towards our stay. Thanks for the encouragement, and I hope that things get better on your end! I've just resigned myself to the 'whoever wants to be there, will' philosophy.

Ring help...Pictures....

I voted for option 1 too - I like the solitare look. When my FI picked out my setting, he got diamonds on the front and back of the band - not the top - so that it sparkled a little bit more subtly. I like bling - but I always felt like all the bling all the way the top of the band was too flashy! But like others have said, it's a personal decision. I would definitely try to go and try these two on next to each other, or something similar - I bet it's like your dress - once you get it on, you'll KNOW!
