I have no idea since I haven't ever been down there, but I'd imagine they would let you cancel it if you haven't signed anything or paid anything towards it. We're struggling with the same thing - how to do some kind of a reception without spending a boatload. We were thinking using our cocktail reception (which we'll get free) as our reception, and add the iPod option to it. Then, we'll just go to one of the restaurants for dinner.
  2. SO cute! I really love your bags. I am hoping to find some cute printed ones too! I'm hoping I can use some my work contacts to get a good deal!!!
  3. I LOVE that dress. I found one online used that I really wanted to get, but I couldn't find any stores near me that carried it so I could try it on first. So disappointing. It looks gorgeous on you! I would think any color Bridesmaid dresses would be just fine with it!
  4. Most of our guests are arriving on Thursday - our wedding is Saturday. I was planning on having a welcome brunch on Friday morning, and then having a bridal party/family dinner on Friday night. We were also planning on having a send off breakfast on Sunday morning, before Matt and I leave for our honeymoon. Hopefully we can work some of these out so we can just have them in hotel restaurants (I'm at an AI), and they won't cost us anything. I don't think we'll have so many people that we can't sit together!
  5. I'm having the same problem. My wedding is at 1pm. I'm not really sure what to do. Matt really wants to have a formal reception, because he feels like his mom will be so upset if she doesn't get a mother/son dance...which will be weird because my father isn't invited to the wedding. But whatever, it will be lopsided. I've thought about a: having a big gap between the wedding and reception b: having a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony where we'll do dances and stuff, then go to dinner in one of the resort restaurants c: having a big gap between the ceremony and dinner and not doing a reception at all. *sigh* Luckily, I have some time to think about it. I'm leaning towards option B, because we're getting the cocktail reception for free, and apparently there is a lot of food included. So maybe we could even scrap the dinner. We'll see.
  6. I'm so glad I found this thread! I am having the same issue! We were planning on getting photo thank you card printed after the wedding, but clearly we'll need them sooner than that! I'm thinking we might get some printed with our engagement pictures on them instead.
  7. I'm glad you feel better! I remember when I first joined this forum, I was really overwhelmed by how elaborate some of the weddings were too...and I started feeling really pressured to do more and more. But, in the long run, we've decided it's our wedding and we can do what we want...I just pick and choose among the ideas! I've definitely added a few things like monogrammed cups, OOT bags, welcome dinner and TTD, but I've also decided that bringing tons of decorations and having a formal reception aren't necessary. I just write every idea down, then come back to it after a bit...it usually helps me get some perspective and think about whether I really want it or not!
  8. I did! And good thing...I had one or two returned for bad addresses!

I've never been to the Moon Palace, but from what I've read on this thread/heard from others, it's really not that bad. I guess they also do a really good job of cleaning it up once or twice a day! Maybe you could ask your WC if it's possible for them to clean your wedding area right before your ceremony

He thinks he can just wear a pair of pants and a shirt he already has to wear to job interviews. God no. This is your damn wedding! Sorry! I digressed.... LOL! You are too funny Marie! Unfortunately, Matt is NOT irritated about the spending! He loves the wedding planning and is just as gungho about the frills as I am. And speaking of his attire...ugh! Men's Wearhouse messed up our suit order for all the men, we had to cancel the entire thing. I was so upset! We found the perfect suits on sale for 150 each!! Now I figure I'll just wait until spring for the linen ones...*sigh* Good luck with your FI!!
  11. It's gorgeous! I love it! I say go for it...and I love the veil too. I ended up getting a second dress too...I definitely fell out of love with my first one.
  12. HaleGrifa! What gorgeous photos! I have to jet off to work, and I can't wait to get home so I can look at some more!!!! Seeing all these pictures makes me practically pee my pants with excitement!!! Reading about all these oceanviews makes me really want one...gawd, I really have to stop spending money on this wedding....ugh!!
  13. I say go for it too! I am a two...well...four...dress bride. I bought my ceremony gown two years ago, and lugged it all around, and loved it. But then when we actually planned our wedding - I didn't love it, so I bought a new one. I did the same thing with my TTD....*sigh* I have a lot of dresses to sell!! I'm going to wait until the new ones come in though...Just in case!!!

I can accept that part of that is due to it falling within 'prime' season, but holy hell! Marie, I KNOW! It's frustrating to see how much the rates end up varying due to certain months and even from travel agent to travel agent. It made it so hard to pull the trigger on all this because I was constantly wondering if there were better deals out there!!
  15. My group rate is above 300 too - I think my single rate is around 330. My double rate is around 368...I think? This is without looking...I'll have to double check and get back to edit this if I'm wrong!! Also, for TTD - we hired Claudia Rodriguez and we are going off the resort to do ours - we actually are waiting until the next week to do ours when we'll be on our honeymoon at a different resort.

  17. Well, I don't know anything about getting pen out, but it's a very pretty dress!! I can't imagine it would be some kind of strange super pen that didn't come out like a normal pen...after all, wouldn't a seamstress make sure to use some kind of pen that would come out since he/she is around fabric all the time?? Maybe if you're nervous about it you could find a used one or a cheap on on ebay or somewhere else online! I would go for it if you really like the dress...but then, maybe you shouldn't ask me, because I bought two wedding dresses AND two TTDs....I can never make up my mind! Good luck!!
  18. LOL! No, I've done zip lines elsewhere. I just really think they are so fun!!! I'm definitely going to try it! I wonder if we could find out the company that runs them (I know someone posted it in the MP thread) and look up reviews
  19. Lawie - I did. I was actually assigned an onsite WC waaaayyyy out. Months ago. And she NEVER responded to me. I sent her several emails, and then finally started issuing ultimatums about calling if I didn't hear from her within a certain period of time. I never heard from her, so I finally just called...and found out she was on vacation for the next two months. I was peeeeevved! They had someone else email me with answers to my questions, so I've just kept emailing her instead of my original assigned WC - I still haven't heard anything from her anyways. I just wanted a freakin price list. It is frustrating about the 90/30 days thing. When I first started all this, it was 90 days, but now everything says 30. I just pestered my Miami contact for price lists enough that she referred me on to the onsite WC. It's hard to budget when you don't have that stuff.

  21. Me too...I'm on the 18th! But I'll be arriving a little earlier on the 14th! I would love to hear about the excursions too - especially the zip lines! *oh I love zip lines!*
  22. Drtracy - I would call and see if you can get a new WC...or just find another's email address on this thread and email that WC...sometimes they'll just pick you up as theirs. I was having issues with my WC a while back and called to get a new one.
