  1. I saw a news article yesterday about the increased rate of crime in Mexico on the frontpage of yahoo.com. I'm waiting for someone to ask me about it - but I figure as long as we stay on the resort or on scheduled tours, we'll be fine. I seriously doubt anyone would try to wander off on their own anyways! Most of my guests don't travel a lot and will probably stick to the resort property!
  2. Marie, good suggestions! I don't know who Kalena's direct supervisor is...so maybe I will try to email the woman I was talking with in Miami again and see if she can hook me up with someone else. Thanks!!!

  4. Anndddd...in a second post... Okay, I'm not really sure what to do about this. Four weeks ago, I was assigned an on site WC. I emailed her several times, and never got a response. Finally last Tuesday, I called the Moon Palace, only to find out she's been on vacation and won't be back for at least another two or three weeks. I left my contact information and questions with the woman on the phone, and she said someone would contact me shortly. No one has called or emailed me. It's now been another week. I'm getting really mad, and I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I should switch resorts if this is how it's going to be the whole time. If I can't get answers to my questions about really important things like my apostille documents, how am I going to get an answer to littler questions about receptions and all that?? I'm not really sure what to do...should I call again and complain? I don't want to be a bridezilla. I just really want SOMEONE....ANYONE...to answer my questions!!!!
  5. Hmm...my TA worked the airport transfer into the nightly rate...so I have no idea how which would be better! I bet a taxi would be fine though, for those comfortable doing that. I know some people who don't travel a lot may want the knowledge that someone will be there waiting for them though to make them feel more secure. I guess it's just up to your guests! Good luck!!
  6. Hmm...well, I for one, want to wear my dress as long as I can...cause it makes me feel pretty! LOL! I guess it depends on how hot I get. If I get really hot, I'll probably take it off before going dancing!
  7. I just bought a separate wedding dress off ebay for 40 bucks, including shipping. Since I want to wear my wedding dress at AHRs, I figured I'd better not risk it coming clean...especially since it's all sequins and lace! You can get a really nice dress on ebay for cheap as long as you're patient!!
  8. Yeah, I was thinking the only way to work with this is to have some kind of a gap...I just kind of wanted everyone to stay dressed up for the wedding...so that way I could stay in my dress too!!! LOL!
  9. Umm...I haven't heard anything about this, but it is a little scary! I would be interested in hearing what other people and TAs on this forum have to say about that!
  10. Is anyone else having their ceremony earlier in the day? Mine is at 1pm, and I'm having a terrible time figuring out how to schedule the night's events! Should I just have a big gap until dinner? Should I figure out some kind of filler? *sigh*
  11. Cantwait - why didn't I think of youtube! LOLOL! Veronica - I'm so happy you've been to MP before! I'm sure you'll be able to give lots of insight to those of us who have never been there...like me! And....SO! I made good on my threat to my WC today to call if she didn't get back to me...come to find out, she's been on vacation for the past few weeks, and won't be back for another 2 weeks! Way to notify me. Sheeeeesssshh. They are going to have someone else email me in the meantime. A little frustrating!
  12. Hey Joni! Thanks so much for the input on the pictures/video! That really helps me a lot! Does the resort photographer take getting ready pictures and all that if you want him/her to? That's really important to us. Also, do you know if they would do a TTD? I'm thinking I should just hire an outside photographer for that!

The problem is, this isn't happening and it's very heartbreaking. I know that not everyone has the timeoff and can afford two trips to Cancun but it still doesn't make it sting any less. I just have to keep telling myself that I wanted a destination wedding and it will be a great time with whomever is able to attend. I've shed many tears over the whole "who is going to attend, who isn't" ordeal... Yeah, we have friends who are having a wedding close to ours as well. Luckily, they aren't having a DW, but it still stinks. I've been close to tears with this all lately too - it's really hard not to expect people to come. Because, it's like...deep down, you do expect them to come. LOL. Like mothers and best friends and those people at least. It is really heart breaking when people say they won't or can't. Lately I've been feeling worse and worse about choosing a DW because of how things are going with the economy, and money is getting tight for everyone. It's a really weird feeling because half the time I'm super excited because we already have group contracts and everything...and the other half of the time I feel ridden with guilt about my choice to get married at MP. Oh well...if I was having a traditional wedding I'd probably just be angst ridden about something else...lol...one way or another! Joy - thanks for that update! I'll keep waiting and see if they get back to me within the next few days!
  14. Sunnybride - that's so frustrating that you don't have a WC. I have one assigned, but I've emailed her several times in the past THREE WEEKS, and I've gotten NO response. I'm calling tomorrow. Friday I sent her an email saying that if she didn't respond by Monday that I was going to call. Maybe she's not getting my emails for whatever reason...but if she's just not responding that's unacceptable to me. I have no idea about the music though...one of the questions I sent to my WC three weeks ago... Joy - how long did it take del sol to get back to you? I sent them an inquiry last week and got an email stating they were out of the office a lot and would try to get back to me in 3 to 5 days...
  15. I'm happy for you that you've decided to stick with your DW! My mom initially decided she wasn't coming, and now is saying she is going to save and try to come. I think that even if they complain and try to make me feel guilty beforehand, once they get there, they will have a blast too. I don't think *afterwards* they will think I made the wrong decision. They just don't understand it now. Just stick it out and I'm sure that everyone will get it once they are there on the beach with you!! Good luck!!
  16. I know, I hear ya. Have you gotten confirmation from your WC that you can have an outside photographer? Photos are very important to me too...I agree with the stress. I think it's ALL I've been doing for the past like, three days. I haven't heard/looked at either Del Sol or Cecilia Dumas though...probably worth checking out if Elizabeth gave you her name though...she probably has a similar style.
  17. Just to clarify - Moon Palace does let you bring in an outside photographer if you pay to have them stay overnight, right? I know I've heard of other brides getting around that policy somehow. I just got kind of a rude email back from a photographer saying there was no way to do it, and didn't I check into that? LOL. So now I want to double check... I'm beginning to think that maybe I should go with the resort photographer for the ceremony, and then hire someone *really* excellent for a trash the dress after we get to our honeymoon location - Excellence Cancun. However, I know FH really wants to have pictures of the getting ready and all that...and I feel like MP photographers only do the ceremony and pictures afterwards...anyone have any input on that?
  18. Anthonysgirl - I'm in the same place as you as far as photographers go...it's stressing me out and I have 8 months to go! Has anyone seen any videos from the Moon Palace? Do they come out good? Has anyone gotten a sample of any of those videos??

I'm getting frustrated with Kalena...I've emailed her twice in the past week and I haven't gotten a blip of a reply. I don't mean to be a jerk, but I think a week's turnaround is reasonable to ask. I think I'm just going to call tomorrow and make sure she got my emails. Boo to that!
  20. Hey Betsy! Thanks for the info! It's helpful to know that the resort will translate the marriage certificate to english - I was wondering where I'd ever get that done!! It's nice to hear from people who have already had their weddings - sometimes I need to remember it all works out okay!!!!
  21. Hey Joy, I'm doing the civil ceremony, my fiance was raised Catholic, but I wasn't. My fiance said he called the Illinois State Department today, and they said that apostille documents don't expire, but they are dated, and some countries require you to have them within a certain date...but the guy on the phone didn't know what time period Mexico required. I'm going to send an email to my WC and see what she says...if the date on them matters at all. I'd really like to get that taken care of as soon as I can...just to have all the papers in order would be a huge relief!! I can let you know what I find out for sure!!
  22. Hey Ladies! So I've been trying to figure out this apostille document thing...I think I've got how to get them figured out, but my question that I haven't been able to find an answer to is - do they expire Since neither Matt or I live in the state where we were born currently, we have to do the mail in process for both our documents. We were kind of hoping to just do it now and get it out of the way, even though our wedding isn't until July...does anyone know if these documents expire or are only good for a certain period of time?? Also, how do you file your marriage license after you get back? Has anyone done this yet? I know many of you have gotten legally married in the US first, but Matt and I really want to do the legal in Mexico deal. Eeps!
  23. I've been wondering how many people the horse and carriage carries too...my parents aren't coming so I was thinking of walking down the aisle with all 4 of my ladies! Or maybe I'll just do FH and I...I dunno. I've heard the mosquitos are bad, no matter what time of year it is...although I would imagine the hotter it is, the worse they get. That seems to be a general rule for mosquitos I think...but I might be wrong. I was planning on putting insect repellent in my OOT bags. I remember when I went to a wedding in Jamaica, FH and I were the only two who brought it and ended up sharing with everyone. I have no idea about wind though...that would be good to know!
