  1. Thanks for all the detailed info. What do you think your overall budget was vs How much you actually spent? I don't mean to pry, but wanted to get an idea for my upcoming 10 year anniversary/possible vow renewal.
  2. a good photographer can make your wedding look like a million bucks - I've been to Pelican Bay, but not photographed a wedding there. The wedding I did was at the Renaissance. I know there are lots of flight options, some are quite inexpensive, and tons of things to do for guests once they get to the islands, too. Good luck planning! E
  3. Welcome to being a real adult! I've got all three, and did it through a lawyer. I know I probably could have done it myself, but I'm sure there will be times in my life when I need real legal advice, and I found someone I can trust and work with, through my accountant. Good luck in your search.
  4. That's a great time to go! Your weather in the US sucks, and it's nice and sunny in Jamaca! Good luck with your planning!
  5. +1 for a Europe board! I've only photographed one wedding in Italy, Near Orvietto, at the Agriturismo La Roca. It's a bed and breakfast, with a beautiful winery and restaurant attached. Really a mini resort. If you aren't looking for a traditional chruch ceremony (I don't know if you are), you may want to have a good friend take the internet classes to be ordained, and then they can marry you. Good luck with your planning
  6. Keep it organized and free of clutter. A simple orchid here and there does wonders, too.
  7. I've been a vegetarian for $25 years. You have my vote.

Feel free to contact me if you want a direct contact at the Renaissance - I've worked there a couple of times as a photographer. The "island time" is definitely different, than American Time! Here are some other shots from a wedding last summer on the private island BTW - I know your photographer because we both work in Austin. Great pics, Glitterbug!
  9. Hi - I've worked a few times at the Renaissance - It may take a while for them to get back to you via e-mail. It's not their main way of communication. If you have a trip planned, don't worry, they will take care of you, and everything will be fine. Planners for Island weddings aren't the same as their US counterparts. We are so used to simply e-mailing or calling someone here in the States, and getting an immediate response. Sometimes the rest of the world doesn't work that way. If you are catholic, it shouldn't be a problem to be married in a church. Have you tried contacting your local diocese to have them help you? Here is a to a Renaissance slideshow wedding I did last year.
  10. Wow, that's going to be an amazing wedding - So many different traditions and customs. I'm so excited for you.
  11. good choice - Be sure to ask how much additional hours cost, and see if they have another appointment after yours, just in case.
  12. I'll be in the Bahamas this weekend - and will let you know what I find.

  14. I've shot weddings both ways. If you are sure the ceremony will be short forget about the chairs. BUT... If you have any older guests, you might want to get chairs for everyone (to make it fair) to be comfortable. Here is a sample shot with no chairs: (pic removed - not posted properly)
  15. I've been a vegetarian for 20+ years and they have taken care of me, too!
  16. If you each put away $50 every month, then by the time the wedding comes around, you will have the money in the bank!
  17. Wow, that's a lot of stuff going on! Every weekend I see this kind of stuff, and then have to distract the people so the wedding photos will look amazing. This is your day. focus on what is REALLY important - Not somebody's boyfriend, or your how your BM hates her dress. Do what you need to do for YOU! And that stiff drink is a good idea, too.
  18. Bookmarks! I've got 1000's of them all organized by category - inspirations, flowers, food, albums, etc... You can do the same, and then when you see a great post, just save it as a bookmark into it's own folder. Feel free to PM me if you need specific instructions for your computer.
  19. Just get into it! If you are really going the TTD route - have fun, and relax into the photos. Be yourself (or the person you want to be). If you want to roll in the surf, or float in a pool, or just relax in a hammock do it! And - Be sure to post them when you are done!
  20. As a pro, I love the sunset light. Thirty or so minutes before the sun sets makes for the best shots of the two of you. Hands down. It's that golden color, just warm and tasty.
