Wow I think I'm the only one here who can't work with music (at least ones with lyrics) b/c I can't concentrate - never have been able. And honestly, if I can hear my co-workers radio it drives me a little batty. I have no prob with people listening to music at work with earphones or super-low so only you can hear it but as someone who has difficulty focusing, it is infuriating being distracted by someone elses music....Sorry its a bit of a rant, but it has been an issue lately. I envy you ladies who can enjoy music while working!

I had my first one done with someone who took 45 minutes and my girl now is in and out in under 10 minutes! We've discussed how this is possible and she says she just goes for it b/c she know its painful so why linger? I was super impressed when she finished up the first time b/c it wasn't nearly as bad as the first time. Just a thought!

Welcome Heather! I'm also from Ottawa and read your article. I'm glad to hear you are still marrying the man of your dreams, although in an alternate location. We wish you all the happiness in the world no matter where the ceremony takes place. And you never know, a vow renewal in your dream local may be in your future. I'm glad to hear you are staying positive! Best of luck!

How long is/did your AHR last?
seaprincess replied to August2010Bride's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
Ours was a flat rate from 6:00 to 1am, so we spent 1.5hrs setting up and then the party started at 7:30pm and went right till 1am. Ours was cocktail syle with dancing. -
Our AHR is tomorrow night - details now, pics to come
seaprincess replied to seaprincess's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I know, I know! I don't really have any pics yet b/c the CD from my uncle/the photog hasn't arrived yet....I'll post what I do have over the weekend and the rest when I get them from my uncle. -
How much did you spend on your AHR?
seaprincess replied to GracieBebe's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
Ours cost about $3K for 100 people, cocktail reception with host wine and non-alcoholic punch. We had a DJ and I made cupcakes instead of buying them. -

Hey! First off congratulations on deciding on a DW - even though its overwhelming now, it will be the best decision you will have made when it comes to your wedding - Promise! As for the TA, I actually used a fantastic TA who specialises in DW and is based in my city. I found her at a bridal show, but I'm sure if you google it, or ask around, you'll find one in your city too. My TA actually arranged all the details with WC at the resort for me including dinner location, the judge, the location, the time etc. The rest I figured out with the WC when I got there. A good TA who is exerienced should be able to help you choose a resort that meets your wedding needs and is appropriate for your guests. Shop around if need be to find someone who you will enjoy working with. Good luck and happy planning! -
I choose $100-300; some things are regular, somethings were special...but all were for the wedding so I counted it...actually, when I added it up it cost more than $300 so...count me in the next category up. $25- Whitstrips $25- Fake lashes from Sephora (loved them! and used them for the AHR) $100- Make up from MAC $120- Clip in real hair extensions (also loved them and used them for the AHR) $50- Manicure $50- Pedicure $100- Waxing (brows, brazillian, full leg and 1/2 arms) = $470

Not Having TTD Pics Done?
seaprincess replied to divadivine25's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I love love love our TTD pics! For us, the TTD were only an extra $200 on top of the wedding package for an hour of photography and 75 5x7 prints. I didn't realize other people were looking at THOUSANDS more! No wonder it wasn't in the budget. If you can afford it, I think you should do. If your FI isn't in to it - could you just do it alone? There are some beautiful solo pics for many girls who did the TTD.... -
trouble hearing the ceremony on a beach???
seaprincess replied to wsarah2107's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We had a mic and speakers, so all our guests were able to hear the actual ceremony. The problem was the wind, our day was super windy. Our cousin videotaped the ceremony for us and because of the wind, much of the ceremony is not heard b/c he wasn't standing near the speaker. Aparently there is a cover you can get for video cameras mics so that the wind isn't an issue - I'm sure any professional videographer would be aware of this particular concern. -
POLL: What are your colors?
seaprincess replied to SandDD's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Mine was turquoise, with accents of gold and a little bit of pink -
VENT: Step mom says, "They might not make it"
seaprincess replied to *New* Mrs. G's topic in Just venting or funnies
I totally feel you on this one! I was told the same thing by my dad..."don't know if we'll be able to make it..." and I know that my stepmother was the major contributing factor to that comment b/c my dad isn't the type to give up a once in a lifetime opportunity like his daughters wedding. Ultimately, they ended up booking last minute and staying at a different hotel, but made it to my wedding. Hopefully they make the right decision, even if your dad goes on his own...goodluck - hugs!! -
Have you exercised today?
seaprincess replied to destinationbride07's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Back on track, summer's comming! To start off slow, I did an hour of yoga this morning. Tommorrow will be an hour of spin. Time to drop the post-wedding weight! -
I was just wondering what I could grow! You read my mind, thanks!!

It was one of those moments where I realized what I had done just as the door was shutting...it was like the slo-mo you see on TV.... nnnnnnnooooooooo!! LOL This story is not about me...it's about my cousin...but it's really funny. I'm not a great story teller but I will try my best! Here goes... There were a few of us sitting around playing board games, but cousin was sitting next to a friend of mine - him on the couch, her on the sofa. They know each other, but are not close friends. She's leaning on his leg with her arm up over it and then starts holding his hand...meanwhile, her husband is sitting across the room!!! We all started busting out laughing...it was completely innocent...just out of habit with her hubby!!! Hmmmm...maybe it's not as funny if you weren't there! But we all still laugh about it! Hahaha! I did something similar to a co-worker! Except I leaned in for a kiss out of habit! That was awkward....especially because I was leaving for my wedding that day!

My fave is pouring OJ into my cereal in the morning...I do that a few times a year.... Or the other thing is wearing my slippers when I leave the house...thankfully I noticed before I got to the end of the driveway!

My Veil Came In Today :)
seaprincess replied to KatyKo's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I love mantilla veils! Good find at $40!! I made mine and it still cost me $50! -
Hahah, I would have been the same as you! I am such a control freak about certain things and didn't ask/want anyone's help at all throughout the whole planning process. I LOVE assembling things - I used to go help my mom stuff envelopes as a kid for fun - so I hear you on wanting to put the seals on and stamps.... But, I'm glad you're over it cause you will have sooo much more you can do from now to the wedding to help you move on!

How much coffee do you drink and how do you drink it?
seaprincess replied to jk1101's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I am a large/Grande 2 cups a day, sometimes 3 if its a rough one. I drink it with half hot chocolate from Tim Hortons or Vanilla latte from Starbucks or with milk and sugar at home. Mmm coffee is the best part of the morning. I only started drinking it when I started working fulltime....thanks 7-4 job! -
oh, but not cream cheese, low fat sour cream instead! And usually home made guac too!
-
DH jokes that the only thing I can make is fajitas, but it is so easy and healthy and delicious. It sounds like Estella1007 's recipe but wrapped in a tortilla!

Our TA picked it for us...she choose the 4 days after we arrived in the DR just in case we were delayed on arrival we wouldn't be rushed getting things together....not romantic at all!
