OMG thanks so much for that! I am trying not to be a nutcase over details and planning, that def helped to put my mind at ease. It's great that you had a wonderful experience. I can't wait to see the pics from Sungold. LOL LOL I am still going to use Mitzi I will just make sure I specify what I want. -
what are the beaches like in Jamaica?
Myda77 replied to SunBride's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Negril has amazing beaches! I have been to the Mayan Riviera and know what you mean. The beaches in Jamaica are different. I thought the beaches in MR were kinda rocky, not so in Jamaica. You can see clear through the water and the beach does stretch for miles in Negril. You will really enjoy it. -

Marie Antoinette! LOL that is a good one! Oh gosh, I really didn't want to have to worry about it, but I guess I better have a plan B. Thanks for the advice. Did you choose the plated dinner or the buffet? I was going to go with the plated meal but now I am not so sure. Did you prepare OOT bags for your guests? If so, did you bring the items with you and how was customs regarding this? I am afraid they will stop me and charge me a ton of money. Of course I will never tell them I am having a wedding, but somehow they always know. Thinking back now, is there anything you wish you had done or wouldn't do again? -

I am flying air jamaica and my wedding is the same day as yours and I am flying back on memorial day also!! Did they give you a reason for canceling your flight? I will be very annoyed if they did that to me! -

Did you use the make-up artist Mitzi? If so, how did you like the way she did your make up? I am contemplating if I want to use her. Thanks! -

I also reminded them if they stay somewhere else they wont be able to hang out with everyone during the week. Do not get involved in recommended other resorts. You did the research for your resort that was tough enough. They can ask the TA the questions about resorts. Just tell them you are only familiar with your resort and they should ask your TA for info. Also be careful, some resort require you to have a certain percentage of guests staying at the resort in order to have a wedding there. I know Ruis do that and i think a lot of them do. I totally agree. You already have alot to organize. I actually had to be a jerk about it and require that all my guests stay at the resort to attend the wedding. My dad's family is from Jamaica and would not have stayed at the resort if I didn't specify it. I would have had to pay a fortune in extras (food/bar, passes, location fee etc.) for guests who didn't stay at the resort. I haven't gotten a backlash from it yet, but I still have 6 more months to go. I actually just came back from a destination wedding this past Tuesday, and in all honesty staying at another resort would have been a pain in the butt, and I would have missed out on all the fun! Communicating with guests at another resort would also bite. It would be a pain for them if you have events planned and they had to get to your resort to attend them. I wouldn't offer any options, but I would just tell them to check with their travel agent.

I just came back from a wedding yesterday at the Barcelo Maya Riviera and it was awesome! Everyone had a great time. I was having doubts recently about having a destination wedding, not anymore! Sorry I can't give you too many details about the planning itself, but just wanted to share my experience as a guest. Most of the guests stayed in the Tropical but I stayed in the Colonial. Let me say that I didn't see any difference in the two, and they are right next door to each other, just walking distance. The piano bar in the Colonial is better, and there is a little mall next door, but nothing major. You will be eating at the same buffet as the Tropical guests. The staff is courteous and friendly and we made a few friends at the pool bar The reception was great. The hotel is gorgeous and I will say very large. One piece of advice I would give is to let your guests know that the resort is more than an hour drive from Cancun airport! If you can book transportation cheaper before hand that would be great. The shuttle from the airport was $40 per person and the taxi is $120 per person. The bride is a forum member so she will probably write up a review, and I will let her post her own pics (Congrats Sonia!!) My camera was acting funky so I didn't get as many great shots as I wanted, but here are a few pics of the resort:

That happened to me too! I went to the club one night with these high heels on which I absolutely adore. I was on my feet for hours, but the time I got home I couldn't feel my 3rd and 4th toe!! It felt like they were numb and they had this weird sensation it went away after about 2-3 days. I never wore those shoes again for that long. I think if it's still feels like that for another day or 2 you should go see a doctor. I hope you feel better and you don't have any problems.

Welcome back!!! Congratulations, everything looks great! Now I really can't wait to get there. Your flowers and dress look amazing. I definitely also went with the all-inclusive package and lately was feeling really bad about it becasue it was so expenseive. After reading your review I feel a whole lot better about it. It's def worth it. I love the coconut bar and bonfire idea, sooo cool I didn't even know they could put that together. Really awesome!
