  1. Beyond disrespectful, that is awful if they go through with that. I think it's like 43K /yr the first 2-3 yrs and 75K after, which to me that is not enough for putting your butt in the potential line of fire each and every day and end up seeing half of what they see on a daily basis. Heck, they even protect the PM on a daily basis. How easily people forget situations like Mayerthorpe when they make these decisions. I really hope this doesn't go through. I think this wage rollback on raises or wage cap is being applied to all our federal employees here in Canada.
  2. Congratulations! Not much longer til the big day!
  3. montegobay09: Sorry to hear you had a house fire. If there is anything I can do to help with the invites or anything you need sent down from Halifax let me know. I came across this website yesterday that has grooms attire and bridesmaids dresses (they do custom work) that aren't bad for price (Beach Wedding Attire: Drawstring Linen Pants, Cotton & Linen Shirts, Shorts - Island Importer). Also, I think the sale is still on at Moores.
  4. never works for me: can opener
  5. They look great! We all pick apart the things we make ourselves. You two did an AWESOME job on these. People are going to love them.
  6. Welcome & Happy Planning! I don't think you are the first groom on here. I know my FI occasionally takes a peek. This forum is a terrific place where we all come together to share our ideas, ask and answer questions. The search feature is a life saver for finding the masses of info on here.
  7. Happy Kwanza, Chanukah, & Christmas to all! Wishing you all a safe and happy holidays!
  8. One of my good friends who is only 32 has it. She was diagnosed 2 yrs ago. She is on a high fiber diet now and went to a dietician at first. Like the ladies have said before talk to your doctor and a dietician on how you can learn to manage. Best of luck.

  10. We chose the Melia Caribe Torpical for a few reasons: * Guests budgets - a lot of our guests wanted a resort vacation package under $1500. There is also an option for people to upgrade to the 5star Royal Service if they want. * Childrens Activities - Flinstones Club for kids- people in the beginning told us they were taking their kids, now I am am pretty sure they are not even coming * Resort Size -the resort is huge and tons of gardens, pools and restaruants. For me, my two siblings basically hate each other so I needed a place where they wouldn't run into each other (now they both aren't going) * Gazebo and Gardens - the gazebo is really pretty. I was afraid if we opted for the beach I'd have photo's of us exchanging rings and someone topless or in a speedo in the background. Hope this helps.
  11. Sorry to hear the resort people weren't that nice. It's good that you posted it so other brides thinking about there will know what they are in for. Can't wait to see photos of the wedding.
  12. I agree with Cattie on this. He wants to help his Dad and putting a stop to that is a line I don't think you should cross. Be open with him, tell him how proud you are that he's helping his Dad and together you want to figure out a solution to getting the bad credit on track to being repaired. I often use scenarios with my FI about his bad spending habits (type of person that would rather use plastic than think about how to pay for it). How would things be if you or your FI be if one of you got laid off or pregnant or seriously hurt, could you manage the debt without jeopardizing your living standard?
  13. Thank you, if anyone needs a 101 on embossing with a heat gun I consider myself an expert these days as a result of all the times I burnt my fingers trying to put that sand dollar on the main invite and get it to raise up. Also a word of advice, Xerox wax printers and heat guns are not a good combo. I thought was loosing the ability to see straight and my mind when I accidentally ruined 11 invites by not covering the invite with a template the only had the spot for the sand dollar open so the heat would not melt the wax of the text.
  14. Thanks ladies, I couldn't have done them without my friend Erika and the info on this forum. I wish the pics showed the topaz swarovski crystal better because it is so cute. Myda77, I am sure your wording is fine. I used a lot of what Cheese_diva had for hers. Can't wait to see all your invites when they are done.
  15. I'm a bit late posting this, had to wait until I remembered to get batteries for my camera. We sent these out last month and they were a hit with all our family and friends. As always this forum has been a great help for ideas, inspirations and encouragement. Some of the stuff you all do in preparing for your weddings never ceases to amaze me. You are so crafty and creative. Thank you all. Especially, Cheese_diva, I can't thank you enough for the thread you had on your invites. I loved your wording and modified it slightly for our invites (hope you don't mind). With the help of a friend we took a DIY kit from Michaels and modified it a little to make it our own. 16. I am with Danielle, Morgan and Tammy on this. We choose our hotel to suit guests (bugetwise and had children), told people you are free to stay elsewhere if you find a better deal, but please be aware of the cost of passes to get onto our resort (our resort $95 day, $95 night). And they still complained, you can't please everyone and you are going to drive yourself insane trying to find other accomodations for them especially if they don't like what you choose the second time around. I say point them to your TA or their own and let them figure it out.
  17. Now, if it is a speedo, heck yes I'd have an issue. If it is something more casual like khakis and a white shirt alot of guys opt for that at a DW. Give him an idea of what you are wearing (with out revealing the actual dress) and ask what he thinks about what he wants to wear and how it will look in photos next to you that you'll both be looking at for the rest of your life.
  18. I am waiting to hear back on how it went with yesterdays wedding. I hope too this is all behind us.
  19. Beautiful pics, love your dress, and your colors. Congratulations!
  20. It puzzles me how all of this started and why PhotoSouvenir was told outside vendors were not allowed on the property. I can't wait to hear what the bride who was told she couldn't have the photographer she wanted because the policy had changed has to say when she gets back. Her wedding is today and I do hope it is beautiful. I think a gained a few more grey hair from the stress of thinking I was not going to get the photographer we wanted. I just hope it doesn't change again.
