200 Weddings A Day / Many Illegal/Invalid??

I noticed the following on a Canadian news web site with regard to the fraudulent weddings: Canadians among victims in possible wedding scam: Dominican officials I think I am going to try and convince my FH a private civil ceremony before we go is the safest alternative. I'd be devastated to find out our wedding wasn't legal. My heart goes out to those who were the unfortunate victims of this scam. -
Any Melia Punta Cana brides?

If you are on Facebook there is a group there called "Melia Caribe Tropical Brides!!!". I've looked at some of there photos and it is beautiful. There is also a Melia Tropical thread on here. Let me do a search to see if I can find it for you. Wait no, that was another post by you. I knew I had read something about Melia Tropical last week. I do think the Facebook group may give you some further info. Good luck! -
Sorry to hear that. It happened to me a few years ago only 5 days after we purchased our house. It was completely unexpected and I was terrified, but guess what I got a job ten times better, more pay and was better off in the long run. Stay positive, things are going to work out. Revamp the resume and get out there, you can do it. You'd be surprised at how many people will go above and beyond to help you get a new job when you get laid off.

I think so too. When the time comes, we plan on hand delivering and mailing out ours a few weeks prior. This way we don't have to worry about the extra baggage weight (airline restrictions when flying from Canada) or them getting lost in transit if we were to ship them to the resort ahead of time.

Can I ask how far in advance did you get prices for 2009? I have talked with a couple of travel agents here in Nova Scotia and they tell me they won't have prices for packages from Canada until late June/July. However, I have noticed a few people that already have prices for next year on this board and others. Shelley
