  1. Haven't tried it on, afraid if I do there will be no going back. I know my shape and that the dress will work. To my knowledge, only one store in Nova Scotia carries Sottero & Midgley...the next closest is in the next province 3 hr drive and I've heard the owner of that place is so horrible to deal with. I do have plans to head to the US in the fall to visit my MOH and to pick out her dress. I will definitely look when I am there. The prices you girls get in the US are so much better.
  2. Lizz, thank you for looking. I am looking to stay in the $300-$600 range...which is really hard. I think I am going to end up giving in. I don't feel comfortable buying a previously worn dress. Afraid I'll buy it and there will be something wrong with it. Also I am sure if I buy online, I will get nailed with duty charges when it crosses the US-Can boarder. I am going to keep searching...there has to be something similar out there.
  3. I am torn...saving money versus the dress... One of the reasons we chose to do the DW was to save money. Therefore, I can't justify spending a large amount of money on my dress, even though I am ever so tempted. I was browsing around on the weekend and absolutely fell in love with Sottero & Midgley SSM5049. So I came to my #1 resource BDW and noticed that some of you have already tried on this dress. By chance while dress shopping, have you you seen something similar but less expensive? I have yet to go dress shopping and am afraid if I walk into a bridal shop without knowing there are comparable dresses with a smaller price tag, I'll just have to say the hell with the budget.
  4. I honestly think it is a man thing...mine is the same. I've been waiting a year for him to call his brother to tell him. I know his brother won't likely attend, but it's still the polite thing to call and let him know. I think you have a procrastinator on your hands.
  5. Mine was $12 shipping on $90 worth of stuff. I think they may have something with Canada post because on their catalogues it says something about Borderfree....don't have it in front of me...I ordered from them last fall and didn't get hit with any duty other than the $12 for shipping.
  6. I went to a holiday party around New Years at a local high end hotel here in the city, all ages and the candy bar was an immense hit with all ages young and old. She may just be concerned about sticky candy and people who have had a bit too much to drink. I would ask her if that is the case and possibly offer for clean up in case someone smooshes stuff into the carpet.
  7. Thanks for the info. I think we may just attach personalized tags to the mugs with rafia or ribbon when we give them out.
  8. Have a great day! Hope it is everything you dreamed of and more!
  9. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Happy Planning!
  10. Here are mine. We chose to go with a sapphire for the ering since it is my favorite stone. My ering and band together I don't know how you ladies get such nice shots.
  11. Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss. Grandmothers are truly very special individuals. May you find comfort in the memories you have of her.
  12. awww, she's so cute....no wonder you love her so much.
  13. I am hoping to stay in the 3-600 range for the dress. Although, deep down I know that if I see something I really like I genereally buy it, especially if it looks great.

    Hello:)

Welcome and happy planning! If you have your TA already, ask him/her to request a special quote from the tour operator for a price for 2009. We choose 2 hotels first though that we wanted to get quotes for based on this years prices before we got our agent to do this for us. My TA tells me it is a bit of extra work for the tour group to get these prices so it helps to narrow the list first when asking for this.

  16. One thing I found when researching the Riu's is that there is some 80% rule, where you have to get married at the hotel in the complex where 80% of you guests are staying. Wedding Packages by Destination. Honeymoon Holidays. Weddings by Riu If all your guests are at the Palace PC then it shouldn't cause any headaches. The place is absolutely gorgeous.

Welcome and happy planning. There's tons of info on here, just search around and you should be able to find some info on those places.
  18. We're planning on doing a sort of honeymoon in Mexico the following year for our 1 yr anniversary when we go to my cousins wedding. We thought about staying an extra week and moving to another resort, but both of our Mom's are terrified of flying so we want to be travelling with them to and from the DR.
  19. best - hair or at least that's what people tell me... worst - stomach because no matter what I do, the blubber just won't disappear...I vow that it will be gone come wedding time though.
  20. Welcome and happy planning!
