  1. Welcome to the forum! I wasn't very involved in my daughter's wedding planning at first. Her fiance (now husband) was the one dealing with the travel agent and the wedding planner at the resort making all the arrangements. I waited, watched and listened and joined this forum, which gave me lots of ideas. Then I presented the ideas to my daughter and once I got approval I had something to do! I did the OOT bags for all the guests Maybe you can let them know that you are ready, willing and able to help should they need it? Good luck!
  2. I love the bright colours in your wedding. You looked beautiful! Great job and thanks for sharing!
  3. Welcome to the forum, Helen! From another Helen Good luck with your wedding planning.
  4. Happy Birthday Christine! Have a great day! All the best
  5. Oh my goodness they are beautiful! Just a little while longer and you'll be posting you planning thread! I can't wait to see that!
  6. I just love your first dance movie! What a great review. I can't wait to see more pictures! Congratulations!
  7. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I admire the courage you have for stepping up and making the safety of your children the priority. Remember to take care of yourself as you go through this. Wishing you well.
  8. The results are disappointing. I've looked at the winning photo's and it's too bad it was based on the number of votes instead of the quality of the photo's. Funny story, I was voting for you all along but I had sent the link to my daughter in case she wanted to submit a photo. One day I noticed that her picture was in the contest too! I still voted for you because she had no hope at that point with only 2 votes and you already had 300+ Oh well, we tried
  9. I'm not that good with colours but I'll comment on the couch vs. chairs. If you'll have more than one patient waiting at a time I'd go with chairs. I wouldn't want to have to sit close on a couch to another patient. But that could just be me. I work in a doctors office (psychology) and we have 8 chairs and a bench in the waiting area. Everyone that comes in trys to sit as far away as they can from anyone that's already waiting. Although if the area is big enough to have lots of couches and arm chairs it could work. The laser eye clinic I went to had about 12 leather couches in the waiting area. That was nice!
  10. Beautiful! It looks like you had a lot of guests to your wedding! Congratulations on your wedding.
  11. Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you will be happy with your resort selection Good luck with your planning and let us know if you have any specific questions!
  12. How about a birdcage veil? I think I saw some pictures with someone who used one with a flower. That way it won't cover the back of your dress. Birdcage Veil - Birdcage Veils - Photo Gallery This website has pictures, some with feathers, some with flowers. It might give you some ideas?
  13. That place looks specatcular! Was the rainbow for real? I laughed at the last picture where you it looks like your husband is holding you under the water! Great pictures and thank you for sharing! Congratulations!
  14. You're welcome Heather! I know that Katie & Chris tipped the wedding co-ordinator. There were two girls. The main one Erica (?) and she had an assistant at the time, who was from Germany, and I think her name was Nicole. I think they gave them around $100 between the two of them, but with more to Erica. I don't know about tipping the photographer. I do know they tipped the wait staff and the bar staff the night of the wedding. They tipped the bar tender who was assigned to us at the pool bar the night of the reception too. I don't know how much though. I don't know about time for responses from the wedding co-ordinator. Have you booked spa appointments yet? You can do that all in advance online. You do have to pay a deposit though. Once we were at the resort we went into the spa to confirm times and they changed the times. Renovaspa - Beauty, Health and Spirit
  15. I found this thread for you: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t25453 I'm not sure if that is what you need but hopefully it will get you started.
  16. I love these pictures! You both looked great. I enjoyed the fact that I recognized where these were taken
  17. Those were worth waiting for! You looked beautiful! Great job putting everything together for your wedding. Stunning work once again from Juan.

How long did you guys rent the poolside bar for? I am having my wedding at 4:00 pm followed by pictures afterwards. I was thinking of having a later dinner about 7:30 - 8:00 ish and than head over to the poolside bar from about 10:00 - midnight. There are certainly a lot of night owls with my group, so I"m wondering if maybe I should rent it until 1:00 Anyways, This is just a very draft timeline as I know that it most likely won't follow a definate one once we are there. Does this sounds realistic to you? As I mentioned I have about 30 guests coming and am going with the mid grade package (The royal wedding package). Did you guys go with the basic photography package that comes with the wedding pakcage, or did you pay for additions? What should I budget for this to get decent pics? Also, what did you think of the bouquet that is included with the package? Did you order flowers for the arch at an additional cost? I guess I'm just trying to get a feel for what additional costs are worth it and what are not. If you could offer any more tips or suggestions (do's and don'ts), it would be so much appreciated. Thanks, Katie had 31 guests at the wedding. She went witht he Royal package and added some stuff. As I mentioned in my PM to you she did upgrade the package and the 2008 prices are in my review thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21027 The flowers (iris') were an upgrade but I have no idea of cost. Katie had to have them as they are her favourite flower. The arch in the pictures I'm pretty sure is the basic one offered. I will mention that the sand in May was too hot to walk on for the ceremony which was at 3:00. We definately needed shoes/flip flops etc. If 'I' could have changed one thing (and it wasn't my wedding) we had a big gap between the ceremony and dinner, so we all just sat around in the bar in the lobby. I would have moved the ceremony to later (which yours is) and provided the guest with some appetizers or something before dinner. We had too big a gap and people didn't really know what to do. If you have your ceremony at 4 then dinner at 8 that might be too big a gap with no food. Just something to consider.
  19. My son-in-laws grandma came to the wedding. She was 80, in pretty good shape, lives by herself, walks to the grocery store, goes to church etc. but has diabetes. Her two daughters came with her and the three of them shared a room. One auntie is a RN so she was really taken care of. They treked grandma all over the place though! One day they walked from our hotel along the beach to Sayulita, and back! Is there someone that can stay in the room with her and watch out for her?
  20. My daughter rented the poolside bar just like Celina, and used an ipod with a docking station (belonging to the bestman) and it was just fine. We had the included bartender. Good luck in your planning and if I can answer anymore questions just ask! Celina and Mel have lots of information!
  21. We visited many bridal stores both in Toronto and Brampton but we ended up buying Katie's dress from Windsor Bridal, on Orfus Road. I'm pretty sure they take the tags out of the dresses so we couldn't figure out what designer it was and try and get it cheaper anywhere else. Anyway, there customer service was not the best and there 'rules' annoyed me. A lot of the staff were rude to me and I was paying for the dress! But Katie had a hard time deciding on a dress and she really loved the one at Windsor Bridal which was close to where she lives so I went along with it. I would also recommend Bea Shawn in Brampton where we got the bridesmaid dresses. Different experience in there altogether.
