YAY maura, you're the day after me! too bad we're not both having our cabo weddings the same weekend, OMG how fun would that be?
  4. I mean, they are letter press and all, but holy come on! Jeez! Our BDW ones are so much better, plus you get to say you made them yourself! much more satisfaction!
  5. I always sleep better on vacation with the slider door open and the ocean waves crashing. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. so soothing
  6. YAY! Sandra, so excited to hear all about it, we decided on RIU Santa Fe while you were there! Can't wait to see your pics and read your review! So glad to hear you had a great time!
  7. Yari, that is not cool! WTF is he thinking? Does he realize this is your routine, like have you guys actually said this to each other? I mean, guys can be so clueless, maybe altho you think it is what he always does, he doesnt look at it that way? Maybe he just had a late night and fell asleep, and his phone battery died, and he didnt even think twice about it? Let us know what you find out, we can beat his butt for you if you'd like BTW, I would be freaking out, too, so don't feel like your crazy!
  8. Oh Brittney, that is so sad about your mom, I don't even know what that must be like for you but my heart just hurts for you. I completely agree, the thought of getting married without my mom there makes me want to upchuck too As for the BD stuff, you probably only got in a fight about it because you both are stressed out about the wedding so soon. Doug and I don't fight, and lately we've been snippity with each other a LOT. We're used to getting to spend a lot of time together, and the last 3 weeks we've both been working a ton of OT and not able to relax together as much. It makes us both grumpy But we talked about it and since we're both aware of our stress and not being to relax together as much lately, it helped a bunch to say it out loud. Now we both watch what or how we say something so we don't fight about it. Both things will get better, keep your chin up! And talk to us, you know we're here for you!
  9. In the last 2 weeks I have: ~Changed my location and type of both weddings! (MX instead of HI, legal at home and symbolic in MX) ~Ordered matching black hoodies from CustomizedGirl - Custom T-Shirt Design, his has silver writing and mine has pink glitter writing, they say "Mr.Chalcraft" and "July 11, 2008" on the back, with Groom on the front left chest, and mine says "Mrs. Chalcraft" & the date on back, and Bride on front left chest. Cant wait to get them! ~Ordered and received our stickers from Zazzle custom t-shirts and more, create or shop for unique designs shipped in 24 hours with our monogram made by Sarah! They turned out really cute! We're gonna use them to hold the ribbon to a circle cardstock punch as the hang/thankyou tag on our favors (which we need to think of something else since we're not doing hawaii anymore!) ~Made the table "numbers", i put our monogram on top and a loaction in Cabo at the bottom, like Zippers, or Bahia del Santa Maria, or Cabo Wabo. I still have to stick the front of the card to a backing, and run to Ikea to buy the little acrylic blocks with the wire clip sticking up to hold them. ~Designed our menu card but have to change the actual menu items, it was all Hawaiian themed food. Now we're gonna try and go Mexican without going over the top fiesta-style, it's a lot easier to do subtle Hawaiian influences than Mexican! ~Paid the DJ deposit, and the chair cover and sash deposit. ~Mailed our STD'S! Finally! Only 20 days late, and so far all the calls we've gotten have been good, everyone loves our MIB's! Only one person thought it was a mailbox bomb, and another thought it might be creative junk mail, haha! ~Printed and filled out our WA state marriage license application and did all the checking to make sure everything is OK to have Doug's bro (from IL) marry us in WA. YES. ~Next up, next friday I have my 2nd fitting for my dress, i should be able to take it home! also have a hair appt to get a full foil, and we have our engagement pics on the 15th! SO EXCITED! and we started ordering pieces for the centerpieces, altho i'm not exactly sure what i want to do yet! aaacckkkk!
  10. Oooh fun! They filmed all the high school scenes from 10 Things I Hate About You at my rival high school, and the scenes in the house at a girlfriends house, they actually paid them to move out for the time they were using the house to film! so cool. also lots of films have been shot nearby in seattle areas, but that one was in tacoma where i'm originally from. pretty cool!
  11. maur, it looks great! now keep those closets organized so excited for you, i'm jealous!

If the wedding is on Maui, we will just need to get from Maui to Kona since that is where we were flying to after the wedding. Nothing a one way cheap ticket cant solve. if you do this and dont fly the segment you were rebooked on ( on pacific wings) make sure you notify the ticketing airline and cancel that segment. make sure they put what we call "an arunk" (ARNK) segment in the itinerary in place of the cancelled segment or else when you fail to board that 2nd to last flight (from MKK back to OGG) you will lose your reservation for the connection. does that make sense? the computer assumes that if you dont board the first segment of a 2 flight route, then you probably won't board the 2nd segment either. sorry for the novel! probably more than you ever wanted to know!
  13. OMG let me move to Texas now please. I WISH I could find a house that big for that price here in Seattle Beautiful, Kathi! Thanks for sharing!

  15. Julia, you rock! Those pics are awesome, and I;m sure all the LC brides are about to be thanking you big time! So beautiful there! And don't ever feel like you can post too many pics, we're all picture whores on here Thanks!
  16. In case anyone wants to know how this is affecting another airline, here is my inside scoop: New Hawaii maintenance plan in place following Aloha shutdown Alaska moves to protect assets April 1, 2008 By Christy True The sudden announcement by Aloha Airlines that it would cease passenger operations after Monday required Alaska Airlines to quickly develop a plan to cover maintenance needs in Honolulu and Lihue. Aloha Air Contract Services has been handling Alaska’s mechanical needs in Hawaii since the carrier started service there last fall. Aloha has said it will continue its contracting while shutting down its passenger operations, but it is unclear for how long, said Kurt Kinder, managing director of line maintenance. Aloha told employees in a message it is seeking bidders for its cargo and contract services division. Aloha Airlines had been in business for 61 years before its sudden shutdown Monday. Saying “time has run out,” Aloha announced on Sunday that it would no longer sell tickets for travel after Monday. Aloha filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 20 and had not been able to find a qualified buyer. The carrier, which was founded in 1946 and employed 3,500 workers, blamed its financial problems on “forces beyond our control,” citing escalating fuel costs and an inter-island fare war with competitors. In the short term, Alaska will assign one mechanic each to work in Honolulu and Lihue, starting immediately. The mechanic will primarily provide oversight to Aloha contractors, Kinder said. Mechanics will rotate in from each of Alaska’s hubs and typically stay 24 to 72 hours before another mechanic takes their place. Medium term, two mechanics will be assigned to work at each of the Hawaii stations on 30-day assignments until a long-term solution is found, Kinder said. Alaska also has the option of calling on Delta Global Services for mechanical help, if needed. As soon as Alaska was notified of Aloha’s operational plans, Maintenance & Engineering moved to protect the company’s assets, Kinder said. All equipment has been moved from Aloha’s storage area to space controlled by Alaska Airlines. Since news of Aloha’s collapse was announced, many employees have suggested via the Water Cooler that Alaska Airlines should buy the airline, some of its assets or take over some of its routes. Aloha provided inter-island service as well as flights to Mainland cities, including Oakland, Orange County and San Diego. “Aloha has been struggling for a long time in a market that has too much capacity. Another airline in Hawaii would face the same challenges, particularly in the inter-island market,” said Brad Tilden, executive vice president of finance and planning and chief financial officer of Alaska Air Group. Aloha flew 737-200s, -700s and one -800 model, with an average age of 18 years. The expectation is these aircraft will be returned to the lessors and re-leased at prevailing rates. Aloha’s demise may create opportunities to expand Alaska Airlines’ Hawaii service, an area the company is studying, Tilden said.

  21. Kathi, why don't you just double-stick tape a 1c stamp to a cute little cardstock cutout with a note about the price going up. enclose it inside the outer envelope but double-stick taped to the flap of the inner envelope? does that make sense? that way when they open the outer envelope, it won't flutter away and get lost, but when they see it they will know to look for the reply envelope and stick it on right away. look on the bright side, if you do it this way, it might get people to actually fill out the card and return it to you right away!
  22. Ana-Maria, go back and click on Sarah's link to her website, she actually does this, and could probably set you up with somthing really amazing!
  23. OMG. Still cracks me up. Like I'm gonna carry a candle with a veil and dripping wax all over my dress? WTF?
  24. Happy Birthday Kristen! Have a great one!
