  1. Tami - since you are in the wine business and you guys own a bar - I think a "Happy Hour" gift would be cute too! Some nice glasses, great bottle of wine...

I've been meaning to share this story with you guys and reading this reminded me of it. Okay - when I was 4 my biological mother was murdered. As I've gotten older I have realized that her spirit is always with me. I have had other experiences of her, but this one was recent and totally amazed me. Many of you know of the drama with my sis. It has been one huge ugly mess. Well, we had to have our house evaluated by a social worker. She came out and did her home inspection. The entire time she was here, my 2 year old son would not leave her alone! My son is usually very timid and NEVER talks to company, acts shy, and it takes him a LONG time to warm up to people. The social worker, me and FI were sitting in the living room discussing our situation and my son was practically climbing on this woman's lap! I was getting embarrased because he wouldn't leave her alone. Several times we had to pick him up and physically remove him from this lady. He has never ever acted like this with anyone, not even my dad or FI's mom. He was TOTALLY loving this woman. When the lady left my son said to me, "Where'd your mommy go?" I kind of laughed and said, "Mas, she's not my mommy, she is just a lady, she had to go bye bye". He asked again, "Did your mommy leave? Where'd your mommy go?" As quick as he asked the questions, he stopped. I know that my son asking where she went was my mom's way of letting me know she was here. We have a picture of my mom in our living room, but we have never told my son who she is, or have never mentioned my mom to him. I was so happy after this happened. Even writing this story gives me tears of joy! I have other stories of her that are totally crazy. I'll have to post them later.

But if you don't like it, get another that makes you happy. Ouch Rach! Back off my sombrero! I guess because I am Mexican - they are a part of my culture and have been a part of life and something I have seen all my life. I have seen some beautiful ones and it has more to do with heritage than anything at all. I have seen some that were white or ivory that were just beautiful. I just can't find a little one. Maybe me and the kids will venture into the Latin side of town this weekend since FI will be out camping. I'll post a pic if I find one. There is this store called "Mexi-Mart" - it's a huge store, maybe we'll find something there. It will be an adventure!
  7. Me too. I always wondered how it all started. I know since I joined even in the last 6 months there have been a TON of new members. Tammy - you are a saint. This forum has been a godsend to so many people. From the bottom of my heart I thank you!
  8. Oohh Froggie - I LOVE that idea! My WC said that they did not have mats to line the aisle, so these may work as a nice way to define the space! Great idea!

  11. I am so irritated for you! I hate procrastinators. I am a planner at heart. My mother raised me to always think ahead and do what you can today because you don't want a huge pile of stuff at the last minute. Just try to take it in stride! I hope it all works out for you!

I was told they are taking my light duty spot away since I have been on it so long and someone else needs it from an off duty related injury. Well in the meantime my FI and I had already decided that I would be filing for disability through my police pension as this has been my doctor and physical therapists recommendation all along. So...I have filed for disability and have until Aug 11 until my light duty is gone. This also means that we are going to probably be getting married here before we go to Cancun because I will need to be on my FI insurance. Our COBRA is $500 a month, ridiculous. So since our wedding date is so close we figure worse case scenario we go get hitched at the court house (have to admit I am kind of looking forward to that aspect) and no one even needs to know. As far as my latest procedure it went well, thank goodness for anasthesia!! I am feeling pretty good but mentally kind of a mess right now. I have been looking into getting into the Travel field or event planning so any TA's or WCs out there who have advise on how to do this I would love to hear it. WOW Steph - I am just reading this and am totally shocked! Do you have short term disability? How can they take your light duty position away? the other person was injured in a non job related injury as well - !!!!! You'll be fine getting married beforehand. Not sure if it will affect your passport though. Just something to think about. Anyhow - wow - I am totally shocked. Let me know if you want to chat or if I can help you in any way. Love ya! xoxoxo Celina

  18. We stood next door at the Mayan Palace in NV last November - I thought the resort was beautiful. Keep in mind we were staying with FI's parents in adjoining rooms, but the grounds were immaculate. We walked through the Grand Mayan and it was beautiful. People with timeshares DO stay there, but we never got pressured to do timeshares. The entrance into Mayan Palace is awesome! I have pics of our room at Mayan Palace and of the grounds if you are interested. Both hotels are in the front of NV and a taxi downtown was around $17. The food is good, and they have drink specials by the pool. MIL and FIL took the kids and went one entire day and hung out at the lazy river. We have some guests staying there for our wedding. My aunt actually reserved the room you have pics of, with the balcony, etc. I thought it was an amazing place to stay. The pool was never crowded and the staff/service was excellent. For food, we just took a trip to the crazy ass Wal Mart. We also ate in the restaurants a couple of times. It wasn't bad at all.
