Short body, long legs....sigh, why can't I have both? I guess I'm borderline plus too, I can wear anything from size 8 to 12, it's so crazy! I feel your pain on the no torso thing. I'm 5'4" and am all legs, no upper body and no neck! I have gained about 60 pounds over the past few years which makes me ill to think about it, and although I lost some weight for the wedding I ended up gaining most of it back. I'm usually a 16 in pants and a M-XL in tops, just depends on the type and where I'm shopping. We just moved to AZ and most stores only carry up to a size 14 so if I ever want to buy clothes here I am going to have to get down to my wedding weight. My husband was getting his haircut the other day and they were talking about the differences between AZ and Chicago and the stylist said that people here are very concerned about the way they look here and they need to be skinny where as people in Chicago don't seem to care. She was lucky I was not there because I probably would've knocked her out. I typically shop at NY&Co. or Old Navy, I have found some cute things at Target and Macy's. We had Torrid back home, but I haven't seen one here probably because the sizes are too big according to the hairstylist. They did have cute stuff, but I never found anything that fit me right. The bottom of a dress would fit, but the top would be huge. My bustier friends have bought really cute dresses from there.

They said that MTV really wanted Lauren to be at the wedding, but they filmed her scenes separately or something. It also said it had to be a church wedding to get Heidi's mom to be there. I didn't get to read the whole article, but I can't believe they actually got married. They just don't seem to have the best relationship on the show, but I guess they have alienated themselves from everyone so all they have is each other. I don't think her hooking up with Lauren's ex Brody is that big of a deal because I think Lauren is pretty much over him and didn't particularly care if they hooked up or not. I however do think it's disgusting that she went after him knowing he has a girlfriend and is just "whatever, it's not my problem if she (girlfriend) is upset" about it. Spencer is a total douchebag, and his sister is a snake. She instigates all the drama. I just caught up on the shows online and I love that Audrina called her out on her lie about what the text message said. Although, I can't believe Audrina hooked up with Brody when he has a girlfriend. I mean I can see Brody cheating since he is a total player, but for Audrina to hook up with him after he was with Lauren and while he had a girlfriend and didn't even seem to care about it is pretty shitty. 3. They turned out great! I remember seeing you post pics of the dress awhile back. The color of the dress looks so pretty against the blue sky/water.
  4. Congratulations!! You looked beautiful. The convention center set up looked really nice. We didn't get to see that when we were there.
  5. I bought Bare Minerals before the wedding, and have been using it since. I had my make-up done by the salon on my wedding day, however, I used Bare Minerals for our TTD shoot. The only problem with the salon makeup was they used a bit of a darker color foundation/powder on me since I had gotten a bit of a tan being in Mexico a few days before the wedding. I didn't bring anything darker so I had no powder to reapply throughout the day. It was really hot the day of the wedding so I felt like my face got really shiny. It is not noticeable in the pro pics, but the non-pro pics it is and the video is horrible!! I don't know if it was because of the bright light he was using or what, but my face is glowing towards the end of the video. Anyway, I have never liked getting my make-up done so I had planned to have the salon do it and if I didn't like what they did I would have taken it off and redid it myself. I ended up liking what they did, but I was VERY specific about what I wanted and what I didn't want.
  6. I have watched most of the OC episodes, and some of the NYC. I usually watch it when they have a marathon over the weekends when the hubs is working since he can't stand those shows. I tried watching the Atlanta, but couldn't get into that one. I miss Lauri on OC, she was my favorite. Jill and Bethany are my favs on NYC. I can't stand LuAnn "the countess". I wanted to punch her on the episode where her maid came back from the Phillipines and she acted like she didn't know how to do laundry. Give me a break, she used be a nurse so I can't imagine she had a live in maid cleaning up after her then. She needs to get off her pedestal.
  7. Since I recently got laid off I have been trying to think of possible part-time jobs I could pick up to get some extra cash coming in while I look for a new FT job. I'm curious to hear from those who currently sell or have sold. Is it worth it, and how much time/money did you have to put in?
  8. My aunt and cousin threw my shower. I got them each a $50 gift certificate for a pedicure at Nordstrom Spa because I know they both like to go there. I handed out my bridal party gifts at my shower as well. They helped set up the shower, but didn't contribute financially. Everyone got thank yous after the shower. I think a small gift of appreciation would be a nice gesture, but I don't think it has to be expensive. The necklace and wine would be a nice gift.

There wasn't an extra charge for the rehearsal dinner, however, since you will have over 20 guests they will probably make you have a set menu unless 4 are kids and you get kid meals for them.

However, the jeweler that made my engagement ring was able to make two bands for the price of one at other stores. I ended up getting two and I am glad that we did. I think my ring looks complete with both of them and now that the wedding is over and we are buying a house I don't think I would've gotten my second band for a long time.
  11. I just watched Twilight, but I wish I would have read the books first. The way they hyped up the movie I thought it would have been better, but I still liked it.
  12. Either a pant or skirt suit would be acceptable. You definitely want to make sure you get something that fits you right or get it tailored to fit. If you don't want black you do grey or brown. You could also get pants and a skirt with the same jacket and get two different dress shirts. That way if you are called for a second interview you can wear the alternate outfit. I would say wear dress or a small heel over the knee high boots.

I'm planning to marry at the Lindo next January and am drowning in questions and anxiety. We somehow ended up inviting almost 90 people and expect about 60 to make it so far. A) I'm worried about the reception. I figure, when we get a better idea of how many guests to expect, we can make a firm decision about reception sites. But, if 50+ people do show up, what are our options for dining? It looks like the Disco and Convention Center are our only options for a reception party. I gathered that the Disco seems cheezy, but the Convention Center has a crappy sound system and no bathrooms inside? Is that right? Then should I look for dj's who have an extensive collection of audio equipment? 'Cause I was kinda hoping to just use an iPod Mix. C) Lastly, until a decision has been reached, I'm wondering what our paper invitations should say about the reception? How should I word it? "Reception to follow at the Lindo resort but we don't know where yet"? I would wait until you know exactly how many people will actually be coming. We sent out 75 invites and estimated 50 people coming based on people telling us they were coming. When it actually came down to booking we had 31 people. You may not have to stress yourself out about the location unless 60 people end up booking. You send in your details sheet picking your locations, but you finalize everything once you get to the resort so you can make changes up until a day or two before the wedding. We kept our invitations basic. We just listed the ceremony time of 4:00 and then put cocktails, dinner and dancing to follow. We didn't specify a location because we weren't 100% sure where everything was going to be. I did print out a timeline with our requested times and locations for dinner, etc. However, if you decide to do this I recommend leaving the times and locations off and just putting blank lines to fill it in, or bring it saved on a jump drive to print out at the resort. I ended up having to cross out times and locations since we changed teh ceremony location and the cocktail hour, dinner and reception all started a half hour earlier and we didn't find that out until we got to the resort. As far as the music, I didn't look at the convention center so I can't confirm the sound. The resort has one large speaker on a stand that you can use to hook an ipod up to. We used it in the Los Vitrales room, but the room was not huge so the sound was fine. If you are going to be in a bigger room then you might want to rent another speaker or hire a DJ with their own sound system.

Ayita Go to the song you want to edit and play it first to write down the exact time you want to start and/or stop. Then go to "Get Info" and "Options" and you will see the start and stop times. The start is usually at zero but when you play it you may notice a delay or a trail off at the end with dead air. We eliminated all that when we created our playlists so there ends up being no space in between the songs.

I was raised Roman Catholic, baptized, confirmed and all of that but I do not attend mass regularly (only on occasion when I'm visiting my mom because I know it makes her happy). I did go to Catholic school from kindergarten through to the 9th grade and then switched to the public school system for grades 10 - 12. I have my own beliefs and I do disagree (as Carly stated) with many things that the church preaches such as not using birth control and not "condoning" people's sexual orientations (whatever they may be). I do sometimes find it a little close-minded for my tastes but I still believe in a higher power whatever that may be. I believe more in the "church of good karma" as in if you do good then good will come to you and if you do bad then bad things will happen. I feel if you live your life following basic principles such as respect, honesty, etc then that is just fine. About actually going to church, it's not so much that I mind the sermons or anything but I feel like it loses a lot of meaning for me going to the Roman Catholic church where all we do is sit, stand and repeat after the priest. It feels a little robotic to me...like we're saying these words but does anyone actually stop to think about what they mean? Anyway, I picked the option of "more spiritual than religious". Off topic but w00t I totally just dinged "senior member" yay me! I'm with you on this one. I was also raised Catholic, but don't necessarily buy into it. My mom went to private school when she was younger and put me in private kindergarten. I hated it! The nuns were so mean and I was only 5! I begged my mom for months to send me to the other school and after a couple months she put me in public, but the tradeoff was CCD for 8 years. Once a week was much more tollerable than everyday so I fulfilled my end of the bargain. I don't go to church unless it is for a wedding or funeral so I guess you could say I'm a bad Catholic.

  17. I love this thread! I really miss having a wedding to plan. I had so much fun picking things out and planning all the details. I wish I could do it all over again. Not much has changed since we got married since we already lived together for a couple years before we got hitched. The name change and referring to each other as husband and wife was weird at first, but I think I have gotten used to it now. The biggest post wedding change is our impending move to AZ. We leave in 3days. We have been trying to buy a house, but we have been having the worst luck. We went on a house hunting trip in January and made an offer on a bank owned house. After a lot of time and negotiating we had to walk away. After that, all the other houses we liked that we looked at either sold or were under contract. Since we only had a month before my husband started working and since the flights were so expensive we didn't have a chance to fly back out to look at more houses. Then last Friday we found out our second choice house that was under contract becaome available again so we made an offer. It was also bank owned and very similar to the first house we offered on. Unfortunately, we found out last night that the bank pulled the house off the market. We plan on looking at more houses once we get out there, but it has just been such a frustrating process. We are living in temporary housing and decided to keep most of our stuff in one of those storage cubes until we get a house. We didn't want to have to unpack and repack everything in 2 months. We also had most of the stuff that we got for our shower in my inlaws basement because we didn't have space so everything was already nicely boxed up. We are very excited to move and felt this was the best time to do it since we don't have kids and we were both able to transfer with our current companies. I have been looking for a new job, but due to the economy have not had much luck. We hope to start a family within the next couple of years. I think once we get settled in AZ and can build up our savings again after buying a house we will start trying.
  18. We didn't either, but took care of business first thing in the morning. My hubby was wasted and felt like throwing up. I was exhausted and the only thing I wanted to do was take a shower because I was so sweaty from being in that hot ass dress and dancing all night.
  19. The only items I have left are the veil, headband, parasol, boning tool, family charms, regular hole punch, and palm tree umbrellas.
  20. We filed a couple weeks ago and we ended up getting $800 more back for filing jointly. We ended up getting a big refund which we really needed for our moving expenses to AZ. We have an accountant do ours and he only charges $100 so to us it is worth it.
  21. Abbie, I love the new cut. It looks really cute on you.
