  1. Hi, It was Sat. night when we were there too. My wedding was friday, beach party was Sat.
  2. Hi When we were married in Oct. there was no extra tax. If there is a tax it must be built into the price all ready. I dont even know if they have tax in Jamaica.
  3. I hired them just for the ceremony and cocktail hour. I walked down the aisle to Is this love, by Bob marley. I told Chandlyn at our meeting that I wanted that song and she was so happy...lol
  4. Make sure you check travelocity, orbitz, and cheap carribean. When we were married the ENTIRE hotel was sold out, But the weekend before our wedding my dear inlaws gave in and decided to attend our wedding, along with an aunt and uncle, they even called hotel directly were told sorry there sold out. Well I was able to find rooms on those websites. They have blocks of rooms reserved for them so those are the last rooms to be released back to the hotel. Just keep searching the internet sites and hopefully you will be able to find a room!
  5. For the few local Jamaican guests that I had come to our wedding we wrote down there names for Chandlyn AND I went to the front desk to double check the morning of the wedding. My father helped pay for our guests fee's he used a credit card at the front desk and we paid cash for the others to chandlyn directly.
  6. I was EXTREMLY nice to them and they still told me "I am so sorry there is no closet." Sooo I didnt argue I wasnt going to start my wedding vacation with a fight. They swore to me there was no closet in the cockpit that I could hang my dress up in So I just layed my dress across the top of the over head compartment and away we went..lol Dont worry it will be fine. There is also a 2 hour drive to the hotel from the airport and none of the busses or private transfers I saw have closets to hang things up, so its going to have to be draped over a seat or lay it across the top of the luggage in the trunk.
  7. We have flown Spirit many times out of Atlantic city to florida and Jamaica and EVERY flight has been perfect. I prefer Spirit because it flys out of AC and I dont have to travel to the bigger airports of philly or newark. The only hassel is for mexico and jamaica we have to switch planes in fort lauderdale. But for the price I dont think you could beat it. We just went to florida 2 weeks ago on the spur of the moment I booked 3 days before flight and we paid 55.00 WITH TAX each. So DONTTT WORRY, Anything could cause a delay with ANY airline.
  8. Congrats!!!!!! Your pics are beautiful, today is my 4 month anniversary and it brought back so many good memories!!! The Riu was perfect for our wedding glad you had an awsome time too!!
  9. Congrats!!!! Your pics are so beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing
  10. I had a few extras including the band and we paid Chandlyn for everything except the photo fee. We paid cash, but we could have used our cc too.
  11. We ate breakfast every morning at Mammee bay steakhouse on our last 2 trips. We never bothered to go to St. Anns for breakfast, since we were staying on the "suite" side it was just closer. We had lunch every day at the plantation, because it was closer to the Jerk hut. Most dinners we just ate at St. Anns. I didnt like the asian place on our 1st trip, so I didnt bother going back this time. Sir Johns was good, we ate there 2x on this past trip. I made reservations once for 12 and my aunt made them once for 12 people another night this is how we got to eat dinner there 2times in a week. We never made it to the Japanese place but my kids went on there own, they enjoyed the sushi. The italian place we stopped at for snacks a lot, but thats just like a fast food place to grab and run during the afternoon outside they make a lot of shrimp, scallop and paella type foods.
  12. Hi, No the photographer is not included. Its 150.00 for him to come for the ceremony and that includes 8-10 pictures, I cant remember right now sorry, but I did post the price sheet on 1 of these threads. Try to look at Nov's posts.
  13. We also did the sand ceremony, rev. Sheldon did a great job reading it. We got our set on ebay and it didnt come with a lid so I just used saran wrap and rubberbands to keep it all together and put it in the carryon, on the way home it was fine.
  14. I had 19 guests and we used the free package. No limit at the ROR...
  15. The Jr suite rooms do have 2 doubles but they are pushed together to make 1 big bed. There is nothing seperating the 2. I am not sure if they are on 1 frame or 2 but if its just 1 frame you cant push them apart. My children were in a Jr suite and the 3 girls shared the bed. My youngest who is 13 had to sleep in the crack everynight and she complained every morning, so I dont recommend 3 adults in the bed.
  16. Dont worry about the rain cause "A RAINY DAY IN JAMAICA IS STILL BETTER THEN A DAY AT WORK at HOME!!!" By the way if it is raining during your time, There are still plenty of places where the ceremony will still go on. I saw 2 weddings take place in the lobby area and I saw a wedding in the steakhouse during those rainy times.
  17. We used Jamaica tours for our transfers. They are not private like lee's is so they may be a bit less.
  18. Lizz by the way there is no 90.00 an hour fee for him to take pics at the wedding and reception.
  19. No there is no additional fee after you pay the 150.00.. unless ofcourse you buy pictures. With the free package you just pay the 150.00 and that includes 10 free prints. Then you can buy however many other pics you want. I only bought 2 more pics at 8.00 each. With the royal package you DONT pay the 150.00 and you will get 10 free pictures WITH THE PURCHASE OF 24. But 24 pictures cost 160.00 for 4x6 size 240.00 for 5x7 and 240.00 for 6x8. These are 2007 prices by the way. I also got all pictures I think about 190 pictures on the CD negative. I did scan the photoshop wedding price list and posted it on this site somewhere I am sure if you go back to oct. postings it should be there. Mo how many pics did you buy?
  20. We got our GM's shirts at Kohls and the girls dress's at wet seal.
  21. Your right Calia. With the free package you have to pay the 150.00 for him to show up but that INCLUDES photos. The other packages you dont pay his fee BUT you get NO INCLUDED pics. This is why I switched from Royal to free. I would rather pay 150.00 for the photographers fees and get some pictures included then pay an extra 500.00 for the royal package and get NO PICTURES!! So this is the exact reason why Chandlyn switched us from Royal to free and gave me that 500.00 back...
  22. Well Chandlyn is great to work with, I think you should just email her with the # of guests to see if that would be a problem. I had 6 people come from off property I just gave her the name of the guests and she took care of it. Just remember you have to pay 50.00 per guest BEFORE the wedding, at your meeting with Chandlyn when you add them to the guest list. If you dont add them then and they pay at the front desk its 80.00 per guest. If you have that many guests maybe you should look into having your reception at Evita's like Mo did. It might even be cheaper to just have it offsite if you have to pay 50.00 pp anyway just for your guests to get onto the property anyway. Mo said it was pretty reasonalble at Evita's.
  23. Heidi, Didnt you go with the "royal" Package? If you did your Jr suite will be upgraded if its available to the full suite. I say stick with that. When we checked in I asked to speak with Susan the manager and I told her we were getting married on site with the royal package and we were so looking foward to the upgrade and she gave it to us with NO PROBLEM MON!! LOL I have stayed there before and I really like the Jr suites so I would have been happy with that too. By the way there really is NO difference inside with the Jacuzzi suite and the full suite besides ofcourse the Jucuzzi outside upstairs on the balcony. I actually like the Jacuzzi inside the room better. Its right next to the bed seperating the bathroom and the bedroom. By the way the Jr suites also have a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I DONT recommend changing rooms!!! WAY TO MUCH OF A PAIN IN THE A$$!! Sorry girls but honestly when your traveling with soooooo much stuff for the wedding and your there a few days before the wedding you really get comfy in your room do you really want to spend the day before or the day after your wedding moving rooms? I know with all the stuff I traveled with I wouldnt have wanted to move anywhere!! I say stick with the Jr suite and roll the dice if you get the upgrade great if you dont, dont sweat it. Or if money is not a problem just get the full suite minus the Jacuzzi on the balcony! Save that money for the casino or to buy internet time and come online and tell us what a great time your having...lol I do have to say though that getting the full suite did work out nice. It has a walk in closet that made for plenty of room for all our stuff dresses, tux ,wedding supplies and after our cocktail hour on the beach we had the rest of the food brought up to our room and we had alittle party in there for our family until we went back downstairs to the lobby bar. Plenty of room to entertain everyone and for the girls to get ready before the wedding.
  24. Hi We had our things notorized right at the bank, for free. Not sure if they do that in Canada though, sorry.
  25. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Margaritaville!!!! LOL We also went during the day so we could shop and play and I was so happy we did. At night it is actually quieter I heard because the cruise ships are not there. But the pool and beach and shops and people are all part of the fun. Thanks for posting the pics Mo, brings back great memories!!! And the bird man is a character isnt he?? lol
