Just what I needed to hear less then a week from leaving. You know whats weird though.... EVERY post on trip advisor and all the other online review boards the posters talk about the beach and water being so beautiful and perfect. Including when I was there. I hope its straightened out by next week. I AM SOOOOOOOO LOOKING FOWARD TO being back at this beach.

No its not actually in the lobby. Its the bar thats closest to the lobby. Right next to theater. Across from the seagrape bar.

There right dont freak out... I also was able to change my time because the other bride didnt confirm the time. BUT I had to wait 3 days while the Riu tried to get in touch with the other couple just to make sure. I didnt have my travel agent book my wedding on the Riu web site I did that on my own. And yeah I think its silly that you have to confirm that you are confirming...lol

Hi, I have been to the Riu before and I would suggest the lobby bar. The beachside/ pool bars all close by 6pm. You wont be able to have drinks "served" directly to your guests unless you pay for the private party. But if you are all just going to "meet" someplace like the lobby then there is a bar there that you can go up and just have your guests order there own drinks for free.

I was just wondering where you saw that adults are 50.00? The last time I asked I was told 90.00. Never saw anything about children though.

Hi Welcome to the board. I leave in 16 days!!! I have stayed at the Riu before but I cant recall going upstairs in the plantation. But for some reason I am thinking its not a big open space up there its just a balcony area over looking the inside of the restaraunt with just some tables. But if you would like me to take pictures when I am there I would be happy too. Just email me to remind me, I will send them to you when we get back. For any of the other Brides if you would like pictures of something just let me know and I will be happy to have more reasons to take more pictures...lol Just let me know what you guys want...

Hi Everyone, I am going to start getting things ready to pack. We leave in just over 2 weeks!!!! OMG I cant believe its here allready!! From my previous posts you all know that I am stressed out big time with being sick and working night and day, so my brain is alittle over whelmed right now and I am finding it difficult to sit down and think of what I need to pack besides the obvious bathing suit, clothes, wedding dress. What do you recommend/suggest that I bring Thanks for all your help and great ideas all these past months!!!

I have read this review once before, and I still feel the same. I personally feel they took to much effort to complain. RELAX its your wedding/ honeymoon. His 3 big concerns were. 1. Not getting the upgrade, UMMM hello, its not automatic if its available at checkin you MIGHT get it. But dont tell me that if someone was arriving the same day who PAID FOR THE jacuzzi suite to begin with that you should get it just cause YOU emailed the hotel and your a RIU class card holder.You want the full suite that bad book it that way!!! 2. The rooms were not all next to each other. There are over 800 ROOMS in this resort. People come and go everyday. Maybe you might luck out and get 2 or 3 rooms somewhat close together but all your rooms?? Your dreaming!! Also if your GUESTS paid for an OCEAN view then YOU should not have upgraded them to JR suites, Not ALL Jr. Suites are ocean front/view. 3. What normal person dressed in their wedding attire goes to complain about a freakin fruit basket/ suprise gift?? Ok.... Now I have stayed at the Riu before and Yes they do need some improvement in the customer service dept. It was not every employee that I encountered but a few, but NOTHING happened to keep me from going back again for my WEDDING!! I cant wait to go back, I have 2 1/2 weeks left and I am counting the seconds. Ladies you must remember that this is JAMAICA, They REALLY do live by the motto no problem mon. They take EVERYTHING in stride, People will be selling smoking drugs in the open, you will find some employees moving very very slow from smoking the ganja....lol I am from jersey when I go to FL I freak out cause people are so slow, but in beautiful Jamaica I just relax and go with the flow and take in every single second and cherish the relaxation way of life!!!! No problem Mon!!!!

Now those cakes are not the same as what she sent me for free one offered with the wedding package. I saw somewhere not sure where, 1 layer cake free and 2 layer was 150.00 and 3layer was 250.00 let mefind the pic that she sent me and figure out how to post here.

Chandlyn emailed me again to tell me she also received my mailed doc's She probably thinks I am crazy that I sent them both ways...lol It took them 2 weeks to the day I mailed them to get them by mail.

I finally heard from Chandlyn today!!! She told me that the scanned copies that I emailed her came out very clear and that they are just going to use them to process our marriage licence. She did not say that I was missing anything or needed anything extra so I guess we are good to go. I also asked her what kind of minister is doing the ceremony and she told me his name and that he is Baptist. Do I need to tip him or do you think that the fee's that we are paying are sufficient enough? Maybe just a gift of some kind?

Yeah I think that you would definatly need copies of the marriage cert. so you could show proof of marriage here in the USA when you return!!

Thanks!! I really need help finding a perfect verse for our sand ceremony. We are including my 2 daughters so it has to fit and a lot of samples I have read are just for the bride and groom. I cant believe time is going so fast and just a month from today we will be married!! I am very excited!! I picked up all our documents today from the travel agent and I picked up my dress!! So now I need to start writing my lists of what I need to pack and what I need to buy. By the way Heidi CONGRATS!!! to you and reggi, Will you still have your wedding at the Riu?

I actually bought ours on ebay. They engraved the big vase with what we wanted, then we have the 4 small pouring vase's with our names engraved on them. I bought them in an Ebay store. So no bidding, they are brand new and the glass is beautiful. I think we got an excellent price, for the 5 pieces WITH engraving it cost 39.00!!! It took 3 days from ordering to receiving!! I guess I will pack paper towels and Saran wrap and tape to pack it up on the way home.

So, I ordered the vase and its 10 inch's with a 3 in dia opening. and now my problem.... HOW am I going to get this home with out spilling the sand or mixing the sand all up? We will have 5 colors of sand. The 1 base color then our 4 ind. colors. Any ideas ladies

Hi Heidi posted those fees under a thread I started I think its called fees...lol Its on this main page I think. I also booked the Royal package but we have decided if for some reason we dont get the upgrade to the full suite we wil just go with the basic/free package and add on from there. I will let you know what happens since I leave in 28 days. Oh my its coming fast!!!

Well she never answered my email about scanning the docs. I just scanned them and waited to hear what she said. Well she said she could NOT open my file that I sent her and to please resend. I sent them in a zip. file. So when I recent them I sent them in a DOC. format but she has not answered that email yet. I sent out the photocopies on friday and they said about 7-10 days. So I am sure if they dont receive them soon they will let me know because we are down to a month away!!!

Hi, I am having my reception at the mammee bay steak house. We are having a smaller group so the steakhouse is fine for us. I canceled the disco, decided with my small group there is really no need. We really want to go to the beach party anyway. So thats where our dancing will be. I will have our wedding dance on the beach when the steel drums are playing.
