  1. Hey, I have done lots of trash the dress sessions, and I can't believe how well the dresses hold up. We haven't ruined one yet. One bride even jumped in a dirty shrimping creek and one went in a fountain and you know how those can be! A professional cleaner should definitely be able to clean the dress. With that said, you may want to avoid the session or use another dress if you would be upset if your dress could not be returned to perfect condition. It would suck if you were counting on that and it couldn't be done. But...if you just want the dress cleaned so that it could be preserved for memories sake...you should be fine!
  2. Welcome! I have photographed a wedding at Moon Palace in Cancun - but not the Marriott. If you have any Cancun questions I could maybe help a little.
  3. Hi, I photographed Lenita's wedding at Moon Palace in Cancun, and I think it would be a good choice considering your needs. There were children there, the beach is right there, lots of big pools, it is AI, etc. If you would like to see some pictures let me know and I can pull up the link for her slideshow.

    Newbie here

Welcome - what a beautiful place for a wedding!
  5. Oh yeah - one more note. If you happen to have generic brand ink - it doesn't always print the right color even if you monitor is calibrated with your printer. I don't print photos from my printer - just personal stuff and right now I am having that problem also. But it started when I tried ordering some ink cartridges from ebay.
  6. Try this... Take your paper that you printed out and hold it up to your monitor. Adjust your red, green, and blue sliders until what you see on your monitor matches what you see on your paper. Depending on your monitor - you may have to go into the contor panel to do that or you may have a button right on your computer that does that.
  7. Oh wow - thanks y'all. Love the pics! I found a place a little earlier called candywarehouse.com that is super because you can shop by color! I'm just at a total loss for how much to order, but maybe they can give me some advice. I'm hoping to have about 200 people at the party. It will be a cocktail party in the evening with appetizers and music. I was at a wedding where someone had one of these tables set up and good gracious - I saw a few people that were sooooo greedy. Hopefully I won't have those people! haha
  8. Welcome - either place sounds like it will be lots of fun!
  9. have any of you done a candy bar for favors? I'm moving this summer, and I am planning a big launch party. I would like to have a candy bar for favors. I thought I would look for some fun glass containers or candy jars and use candy that is white, blue, and brown. I'm having trouble finding candy and knowing how much I need. If anyone has done this before and has any information - I would reallly appreciate it!

  14. oops...sorry the pic is so tiny. Email me if you are interested and I can send it to you.
  15. I had a local wedding Saturday (ceremony on the beach - reception at a hotel ballroom) where they had cute favors...rosemary infused sea salt. I thought it was a really cute idea and these could be made very affordably. I thought it was a great idea because not only is it a useful gift, but it would be easy for guests to pack. So...I thought of you all and thought I would share...

  17. Hi, I think it would be fine if you tipped them when you got home. Honestly, most photographers don't expect tips. When I first got started and final payment was due on the day of the wedding - I received tips almost every time. Now that payment is made by credit card two weeks in advance, I probably only get tips 10% of the time. And I'm totally fine with that. I have received tips ranging from $20-$500. I love getting emails and handwritten notes from people - they make you feel so great about your job.
  18. Beautiful images Leigh! That stinks about your 2nd shooter. Mine got really sick the last time I was there too, but fortunately she was not throwing up and could work. Hopefully you didn't catch it!
  19. Welcome - you will get lots of help here. I am shooting a wedding there over Thanksgiving week, so I will be glad to share some photos when I return.
