  1. Welcome! I photographed a beautiful wedding at the Audubon House in January. Where will you be married?

  3. From a photography perspective - 1:00 can be a problem. And it doesn't really matter how much skill the photographer has...there isn't much you can do about harsh overhead light during a ceremony. You may have harsh shadows and squinting in your photos. A good photographer can work with it on photos before and after the ceremony - but not during. Now...if you can order an overcast day - no worries. The other thing that you may want to consider is that it really takes up the whole day for your guests. Of course they are there for your wedding - but they would likely enjoy having either the first half of the day or the second half of the day to enjoy the sun - a 1:00 wedding sort of messes up the whole day. I hate to be a downer. Even with the things that I listed - having your wedding at 1:00 is not going to be the end of the world if you really have your heart set on that date. Best wishes!
  4. I have photographed weddings at Moon Palace and Occidental. Well ... the wedding was downtown not at the Occidental. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.
  5. Sorry, but I agree. It just isn't polite to ask for money no matter how you do it.
  6. Why don't you create a schedule and have time slots available. Mail it out and explain that your mother in law is graciously providing stylists. Let them know that if they would like to use them to simply email the time slot they would prefer and mention that it is first come first served as far as choosing times. That would make the process very simple for you - and your bridesmaids could choose whether or not they want to take advantage of the generous offer. They have the ability to decide if the time would inconveniece them or not.
  7. I don't know if you are interested in going elsewhere, but Belize has Mayan ruins. I have been there a lot and know people I could check with. You could really have a lot of awesome places there to do something different. I could think of some really cool places just off the top of my head. Feel free to contact me if you want to know more.
  8. I photographed an AHR here one time. Academy of Medicine It was really nice - I have no idea what they charge. A few pics... And a funny one...glass eyeballs from the display room...
  9. Ohhh....I can't wait to see your pics!!!
  10. I buy everything from B&H. They have great prices and a stellar reputation. It is really hard to give a #1 and #2. For example - a lot of people think that how many megapixels a camera has is a deciding factor - but there is so much more to it - for example - the size of the image sensor. You can have two 8MP cameras that produce photos of totally different quality. I am a Canon girl - so I can tell you about the. If you are planning to stay non-pro - then a later model Digital Rebel would be fine for you. If you have plans to go pro, I would spring for a 40D. You can find a used 20D or 30D online - but be sure to know how many shutter clicks it has.
  11. Maybe you could check with the chamber about when the kids are there to party. I have never heard of that - at Myrtle Beach definitely - but not Hilton Head. Not saying it doesn't exist - I'm sure it probably does. Anyway...if you have any trouble finding out - send me a message. I could ask former clients for you.
  12. Ohhh...I meant to add...this would not be at an all inclusive resort. It would be different places/areas (places where there are no AIs) where the average person would have to go do a lot of trouble to find out what they would need to do to get married and to round up officiants, figure out licensing, etc. I'm not sure if that would make a difference to you - but thought I would mention that.
  13. I have photographed lots of Hilton Head weddings. Renting a beach home is a great way to go! Sea Pines is a popular place to do so. Another cool place is Daufuskie Island which is just off the coast of Hilton Head- you take a ferry over there. Here is an old Daufuskie slideshow: Jennifer & Jason I'll see if I can dig up some HHI slideshows when I get a chance. Good luck!
  14. I am helping out a planner friend and have a question for you if you don't mind answering. If you were going away to be married - and were going to have about 10 or less guests (or no guests) what would you estimate your max budget to be for these things: Ceremony Location Fee Officiant Bouquet and Boutonniere Some flowers on location Good photographer and album Small Cake Champagne Toast License/Registration/etc Fees Taken care of (Airfare and lodging not included.) What would be the max you would pay if these things were taken care of for you, no stress or research on your part, and all you had to do was send a check and show up?
  15. Autumn covered a lot of things! I would suggest looking at a Canon 20D, 30D, or 40D.
  16. Oh wow - your wedding will be here soon! I love Playa del Carmen - I know you are going to have a great time!
  17. I don't have any pics - but I think they rock! I just saw someone with some shots lately - hmmm... maybe Leigh Miller or Leigh Webber?

Maybe my client paid for the resort photographer and just didn't use them? I''m not sure. It was Lenita - if you want to email her and ask her about it - send me a PM and I will dig up her email address for you.

  20. I have photographed a wedding at Moon Palace and I know they do. Also...won't they do a Catholic service at Grand Occidental Xcaret in Playa del Carmen in the park at that beautiful outdoor chapel up on the hill? I think they might. We stayed there for Catherine's wedding, but she was married at a Catholic chuch downtown - it was AWESOME! They had a mariachi parade down to the beach for cocktail hour.
  21. Ohhhh I love the photos! But maybe that is b/c I'm a photographer!
  22. This isn't my best ring shot - but - it will demonstrate my tip. Buy some dental wax from a drug store - you know - the stuff you use when you have braces. Place a small amount of the wax under the rings if you want them to stand up.
