  1. Once you start participating in the chats instead of just reading the threads, your posts do start to add up quickly
  2. clgriffi7 has a vaild point. We are getting married at town hall a couple of days before we leave to have everything done here legally in Canada then having a symbolic ceremony in the DR. We are having a Pastor there and will recognize that as our official anniversary date. If it will keep the peace and make them think the 'won' what difference does it make in the end? You'll have a great vacation with your family and friends, it's just a little sad that his family can't see what they are missing, but you can make the best of it!
  3. How I met your mother - Neil Patrick Harris
  4. lilLablonde - how did it all go in the end? If you are still on the site...
  5. Heidi Dreamtush I know my FI likes my tushy.....hehehe
  6. We chose a DW for a lot of the same reasons, relatives all would have to travel anyways to attend our wedding, mine are in Montreal, Ottawa, NY and Greece, and his, well he was only going to invite his parents, brother and 3 aunts and they are coming to our wedding in the DR anyway! I really didn't want a big wedding, and didn't want to invite the obligatory people so this way, we could invite them and not have to worry about them showing up (I hope that doesn't sound too bad of me)
  7. Like! True Blood (Season just ended Boo!)
  8. Gameface - have you chosen your location for November yet? Cutting it pretty close....we booked ours in March. We are 11/14/11
  9. Awesome thread, great place to vent. I agree with everyone on the rudeness of people not RSVP'g. I ended up personally calling all my relatives that I invited about a week after the invites went out and started the conversation with "I know you probably can't come and I don't want you to feel pressured, just know that if it were possible, I would have loved you to be there." Most of my Dad's family doesn't have a lot of cash, so I get it, and all of my Mom's side is in Greece - so there was no way they were coming, but I was surprised because one of my cousin's over there said she'd love to come over to Canada next summer for our Greek Orthodox wedding. Yes I'm getting married 3 times, civilly a couple days before we go, on the beach by Pastor York, and in Montreal in a Church for my Dad... The Church one is going to be really small, just my dad's side of the family because they all live there.
  10. How big is your group? We have 40 in total including us booked, but I'm pretty sure a lot of them will head off to bed before the club part of the evening begins. Also, are you planning an excursion with everyone or just going to hang out on the resort? The last time I went to an all inclusive with a group, there were 18 of us and we were all in our early 20's so I think this is going to be a different type of group setting. I did throw a pack of playing cards in everyone's OOT bag, hoping to start a Euchre tournament when we are down there one afternoon
  11. I've been on other threads lately and I'm realizing I have to write down a list of things down because I am not even thinking of all the little details like toasts, music for the ceremony, seating, walking down the aisle (I know that one), then the cocktail party after - need at least an hour of mingle music...
  12. Just FYI for anyone going over to the US for a shopping trip - go to Michaels in the US - they carry the same stuff but the prices are cheaper - so the travel candles I bought here for $24.99 with 50% off was $12.50, in the US I found them for $18.99 + my 50% off coupon came to $9.50. Pennies add up....
  13. Reading your posts, my list keeps growing....write toasts...I think I've been too laid back about this process
  14. Liz are you hitting the club on the resort after to go dancing? My FI normally is an early to bed and early to rise - but I'm really going to try to keep him up that night. I think it would be awesome if we were both there in our wedding dresses dancing the night away! We are going to be there 11/11 to 11/18 then are going to another resort for a few days for our "honeymoon". I'm really interested to see what other brides are doing so I am going to be watching the Fri aft and Sat weddings. I assume we are going to meet with the wedding planner on Sat afternoon....we'll see when we get down there.
  15. Wow - I also saw somewhere that one of the bride's was getting digital photoframes and loading pictures from the week....not too much?
  16. We are going really casual, both my FI and the BM are going with long sleeve white linen shirts and tan linen pants. My FI wants to roll up the sleeves, he's so wierd. Anyways, I'm thinking the only difference between the two will be the boutinnere they wear. Oh and we bought nice Dark Brown leather Flip Flops actually. We will have to get the pants hemmed, hopefully the Macy's pants will come unhemmed and you can get that done. If you are close to a Moores, they only charge $9.00 to hem mens pants.
  17. Once I reach 150 I'm using this. It's less than 60 days to the wedding and I'm sure i'm forgetting things...quick question though, I'm just going with the meal at one of the a la cartes, should I still do menu cards for each person?
  18. Hi All, I have just stumbled onto the fact that there are people buying gifts for Parents and In Laws. This thought didn't even occur to me, maybe I'm dense...but they are getting OOT bags like everyone else, and I know we will give each set a framed picture from the wedding, but should we be doing something more? Thanks,
  19. OK - I hadn't even thought of getting gifts for the inlaws beside the OOT bags I am doing for everyone. Should I be doing something more or is that bag good enough? Is giving in law gifts a regular wedding tradition of just something that goes along with Destination Weddings b/c of the OOT bag?
  20. Ok - if I have to add this, does anyone have any other gift suggestions for their in-laws? I'm going to have to get shopping but I don't know where to start.
  21. Hi ladies, I too am experiencing cold feet, but more because I was single for so long, and am used to being so independant, it's scary to share your life with someone. Then I think, is he the right one? He is so amazing and I think because I've been holding out for the right guy for so long for the right guy I'm questioning my choice....somebody smack me upside the head please.
  22. jlarruda - I'm right behind you! I get married 2 days after you at the ME, and I will get to the 150 mark soon hopefully, need the templates for the OOT bags to finish them LOL!
