  1. Looks like you had a beautiful wedding. What great colours and I love the idea of naming the tables after places you've been to!
  2. Some good advice from the ladies that I agree with. From the way you talk about your relationship and the way it is now, it seems like you have something to work out with your FI. I think you really need to talk to your FI and find out what he's thinking, he might be having similar concerns and jitters. Then at least you'll know where you stand and what to do next, it could make things better and alleviate some of the stress and worry about the unknown. Maybe talk to a friend if you can't talk to him for a few more days, just to try and get some of your feelings out. I hope everything works out for you!
  3. Love the OOT bags, and the boxes you sent out prior to departure.
  4. So Davids Bridal just opened in Toronto, I have just started my dress search and thought I'd take my mom and sister to the store. I was searching the dress thread for dress ideas when I found this and I just had to post about my experience for Canadian brides. First of all I knew the place was not the fanciest bridal salon out there however I was surprised at the terrible service I received. I read this thread and I basically had the same experience. I called to make an appointment in advance as I knew they were opening that week. I was put on hold for about 5 minutes, it should have been a sign. So my appointment was for noon but they failed to mention that it was the stores grand opening day. I read on this forum that someone had gone in the store so I was under the assumption that they had already had their grand opening. We got to the store 5 minutes late for my appointment and waited 10 minutes to check in. During our wait the 3 staff members standing there did not even acknowledge us. There was another bride in front of us and she was assisted by someone right away. They told us they wouldn't have anyone to help us for a few minutes. We wandered around the store a bit, then about 20 minutes later we were told that we were going to be helped by someone. It was a man. And he was in the middle of someone Else's appointment. Seriously! My sister wanted to walk out of there right away. I told him what I was looking for and he said he would pull some dresses. So we went looking at them, he pulled two and then walked away to the other bride. Then came back and pulled ones completely opposite to what i was looking for. My sister started pulling dresses and carried them over to the dressing room, my mom had to help me to get on the dresses. I tried on a few but he didn't' really say much to me. He was terrible, he didn't tell me about the opening deals, some other lady walked over to tell me how nice I looked in a dress and to fix my bra in the back and adjust the dress. There were a ton of people that were working there but none of them seemed to be doing much. Overall it was a terrible experience. A word of advice I found a dress I liked at the store, I went on line and the dress is $300 cheaper on the US site. I would suggest driving to Buffalo if anyone really wants a dress from David's with the dollar worth more than the USD.
  5. I'm not sure what you mean by semi inclusive, most hotels in Costa Rica are not all inclusives but may offer breakfast. Most hotels and beaches will be at least an hour or more away from the airport. Your best bet is to fly into Liberia it is the closest to the beaches of Guanacaste. In doing my research for my wedding I found Playa Flamingo, Poetro, and Hotel Sugar Beach to be nice and reasonably priced. I myself have not been to these locations. There are ton of options, lots of hotels great beaches.
  6. I just checked their website say's the store's are going to open on March 3.
  7. Beautiful wedding, the church looked great and your invitations were so creative.
  8. The casa you choose looks great. We stayed at another of Escape Villas properties two years ago when we were in Manuel Antonio. They take good care of their properties and look as good if not better in person. We are planning on getting married in January 2012, we are trying to decide on a venue right now. There are too many nice places to choose from! My wedding planner is earning every bit of the money we've paid for, I think I'm driving her crazy with questions! I will defintely check out the link you posted for the cake, we don't have anything for that yet.
  9. I'm still a year away from my wedding but the biggest stresses so far are planning a wedding somewhere I've never been and trying to pick a wedding location that people can afford to come to. It would be great to win the lottery and not have to worry about that!
  10. No problem! Good luck with planning the rest of your wedding! I'm still deciding where in Costa Rica to have mine. Too many nice locations. BTW what villa are you having your wedding at?
  11. Welcome! I'm a Costa Rica bride as well, there are so many beautiful places its so hard to decide where to have the wedding. I'm getting married in January 2012 and we still have not decided on a location.
  12. Awesome thread, I just stayed up way past my bed time reading it.
  13. These are some great, very helpful tips! I had never thought of Michael's for things.
  14. I have two links that you might find helpful, both the websites are in Spanish but they do have the contact information. The companies are both based in the San Jose area but they probably can help you out. One was sent to me by the hotel I might have my wedding at the other I found through some web searches using my very basic Spanish. I hope this helps you out! BTW I love Manuel Antonio, its so beautiful! http://www.eventosboadicea.com/contacto.html http://www.costamesa.co.cr/index.html
  15. Here is our story, its a little overdue as I've been engaged since October. So here it is. My boyfriend (now fiancee, I love saying that!) went to Iceland in October. We went for a week and drove around the country, it is absolutely breath taking. The day we got engaged would have been one of my favourite days ever but the engagement just made it the best day ever. We went to see glaciers in a lagoon floating out to sea, then we went for a hike in a national park (one of my favourite things but not his) and saw a beautiful waterfall. We then drove about two hours along the coast line to the Hotel Ranga. It is a very expensive hotel in a very beautiful location, that we got a steal of a deal to stay there. We hopped in the hot tub as soon as we got there and then had dinner at the restaurant. It was one of the best meals of my life, just amazing. My fiancee had been obsessed with the forecast of the northern lights for a few days prior. I wanted to see them too but he really wanted to for some reason. After dinner we went back to our hotel room and he took me outside on the porch because he said he wanted to see if we could see the northern lights. They weren't out but he proposed anyways. He didn't have a ring because it was on order and hadn't arrived in time for our trip. So he made a ring out of the grass and put it on my finger. It was awesome! We didn't end up seeing the northern lights but I didn't care!
  16. Thanks for the suggestions. I have to build one weddingwire and mywedding.com both look great I can't decide which one to use!
