  1. Thanks! I believe he got his tie from Le Chateau. The tree is on site and right in the middle of the beach! I've seen other wedding pics with this tree...seems to be a popular photo prop! Hubby's suit is Hugo Boss from a local store in Toronto (store name is The Coop) and the groomsmens outfits are from islandimporter.com
  2. Thanks Everyone! We both got our shoes at Walden Galleria in Buffalo. His are VANS (I can't remember exactly what store it was from). Mine are from Bakers Shoes. Ours was his first destination wedding photo shoot! We're so happy with the way the photos came out. I would definitely recommend the Dunns River Falls/Catamaran Cruise. We had about 30 of us in our group for the excursion and we all had a blast. The bridesmaids dresses are from anntaylor.com. I think it was their spring/summer line of last year. I happened to come across the website and saw the dress on sale in December!
  3. I just wanted to share with you all some pics from my Feb. 12, 2011 wedding at ROR and TTD session!
  4. Yes, they did change the times. I got married there last month. My ceremony was supposed to be at 4 pm. It was only until I arrived at the resort and during my meeting with the WC that I found out my ceremony was changed to 3 pm. I was told that my ceremony was at 3 pm all along but of course I had all my previous correspondence and confirmation emails. Anyway, the WC checked the wedding that was booked for 5 pm and said we could keep our 4 pm timeslot since the next wedding only had 4 people (including the bride and groom) so it wouldn't require a lot of time to set up. I would definitely confirm your ceremony time with the WC prior to your arrival in case you need to make any changes.
  5. You won't need to pay a vendor fee if they are dropping things off. But if they need to come onto the property to set up things like the huppah, lanterns, lights, etc, you will need to pay a vendors fee. Tai Flora and Shangri-La (florists) are both contracted by ROR so if you order through them, you will not need to pay a vendors fee.
  6. I think it's just one string per pillar. They quoted me for 8 pillars and I would assume Tai Flora knows this because they do set ups there all the time.
  7. Hi there...I'm getting married there in 2 weeks!! I'll also be having a poolside reception. Are you inquiring about the string lights wrapped around the pillars or the lit paper lanterns hung up on the "ceiling"? I got quotes for both from Tai Flora - the lights wrapped around the pillars are $22 each and the set up of paper lanterns with lights is $400.
  8. Thanks for the review! Pics look great and you look so happy! I'm disappointed to hear that the staff don't help set up at all. I had previous arrangements with Chandlyn and she agreed to help with the decor so I went and bought stuff that needs to be set up. The new WC said that she would "try" to accomodate any previous arrangements but seems like I'll have to get my guests to help out.
  9. Yes VERY easy to miss that part on their website! I called them today to ask why I couldn't proceed with my order and the rep told me about that link on the top right corner of the page. I asked why the site still gave me the option to enter the province but no option to select my country when checking out and he said "Ya, our website is kinda wonky and we're working on it". Of course they won't honour yesterday's prices which I'm SOOO bummed about it. I think there's only free shipping to Canada if your order is over $100.
  10. I tried ordering because they say they ship to Canada as well but when I went to complete my billing/shipping address, it allowed me to enter the province but no option to select Canada!! I tried calling them and doing the online chat for help but to no avail. So disappointed that I couldn't put my order through =(
  11. PolorI69 - Thanks for the advice. I'm getting married there in 3 months and have emailed the WC's there with no reply. I'm getting a bit anxious because there are certain things that I want dealt with before I get there. Can give me the DJ info you found on Facebook and why have you chosen him instead of the resort DJ? I'm looking forward to reading your review when you get back! Wish you the best!
  12. That's great news!! I also got my locaton confirmed after tons of emailing!!! Â
  13. Hello...I was wondering if someone could post some pics of their bouquets/flowers, centrepieces, etc from Jan's Bridal. I'm thinking of using them but would like to see some of their work. Thanks!
  14. Hello...I'm looking for approx. 40 Tiffany Blue sashes, 4 round Tiffany Blue overlays and 1 Tiffany Blue table runner (long enough to fit rectangular table for 8 people).
  15. Thanks for the replies. Â I guess now my other question goes to brides from the Toronto area. I read online that right after the legal ceremony, they give you a record of solemnnization which has our names and date of marriage, etc but it's not the actual marriage certificate. I would have to apply for the marriage certificate afterwards. Is the record of solemnization sufficient or do I have bring the marriage certificate to the resort and how long does it take for me to obtain the marriage certificate?! I'm hoping also that the resort will forget to ask me!
  16. I plan on getting married first in Toronto, Ontario before going to Jamaica (ROR) for the symbolic ceremony and reception. I was told that I need to forward my marriage certificate to the resort 15 days prior to arrival. I read online that you would have to apply for the marriage certificate in Ontario but it doesn't say how long it takes for them to issue it....does anybody know?! My dilemma is that my future mother in law will be coming to Toronto from out of town 2-3 weeks prior to all of us leaving for Jamaica and we want her to be here when we do our legal ceremony. I'm afraid that we may not have time to wait on her to be here for the legal ceremony and to forward our marriage certificate to the resort. Has anyone experienced providing their documents when they arrive to resort as oppose to forwarding it to them before arrival? Are they very strict with this policy?
  17. Hi Ladies....I'm also waiting for a response from Antonette. As mentioned, I had emailed her over 2 months ago and no response. I emailed the sales dept. in Mexico to confirm my date/time (as I've been hearing that some brides were double booked!!!), I mentioned to the sales exec. that I emailed ROR months ago with no reply. He forwarded my email to Antonette and they responded within 2 days however, she did not answer any of my questions that I had emailed to her prior and when I replied to her email with my questions again, she did not respond!!! This is driving me crazy!
  18. I was told by the previous WC that you must have at least 40 guests to have the poolside reception but I also read somewhere that it was 20 guests so I'm not sure what's right. I plan on having the poolside reception as well....I'm expecting between 40-45 guests. I was also told by the sales dept in Mexico to book your reception as soon as possible to reserve it for your wedding however, now I'm receiving word from other brides that the new WC at ROR is saying that the policy has now changed and you can't book your reception until you get to the resort....doesn't make sense to me.
  19. eddiesheila - I'm really worried now!! I emailed the WC several times to re-confirm my booking of the poolside reception but haven't received any replies from her as of yet so I'm wondering why she hasn't responded to me to even tell me of the policy change??
  20. sweetluna - I emailed the sales dept in Mexico to forward me their 2011 wedding info and on the brochure, the listed MICE managers (wedding coordinators) at ROR are: Antonnete Perry (I believe she's the head WC), Natrisha Campbell and Michael Johnson. They all share the same email address [email protected]. Their phone number is 1-876-972-2200 ext. 6023.
  21. There are 3 types of dinner receptions:  1.) semi-private which is free and is a sit down dinner. I believe this dinner is from 6:30 - 8:30 and does not include open bar (wine is served at dinner)  2.) private reception at the Plantation restaurant - $1000 for 4 hours or $500 for 2 hours - sit down dinner and an extra $10 per person if you want an open bar  3.) private poolside or beach reception - $55 per person - buffet style and includes open bar  If you opt to do the semi private dinner you can do an after dinner reception where you can dance and lounge around at either the poolside or on the beach for $15 per person which includes bar, set up of table/chairs and tikki torches/lights.
  22. eddieandsheila - I'm in the same boat as you. It's been frustrating trying to get a reply/confirmation from the WC. Where did you hear that the policy has changed regarding confirmations?? I haven't been told this and totally unaware!! Other brides have posted that their ceremony time was also double booked and were bumped to an earlier time than what they had booked. I emailed the sales dept. in Mexico to confirm AGAIN my wedding date and ceremony time as well told them that I'm still waiting to hear back from the WC. I got a reply saying that my date and time is confirmed and he has forwarded my email to the WC at ROR so she can contact me...I don't know if an email coming from their office will push the WC to contact me. Just a side note, not only has the WC changed but also the head sales person at the sales office in Mexico and their email address has changed as well...I had no idea. Â
