  1. So sorry to hear that your ceremony time was double booked. Did the sales dept. in Mexico contact you to let you know that they made a mistake?? Did you just find out that they double booked?! I better check with them to make sure my date/time is confirmed...I'm so nervous now! Â I totally agree that they should get their act together. In the end we're still spending quite a bit of money to have our wedding there and we shouldn't have to feel helpless!! I had everything booked and confirmed with the previous WC and since she's been gone, I've been trying to contact them time after time to ensure my bookings are still there but nobody has gotten back to me. Â
  2. I also wanted to book a few things so I contacted the WC at ROR a few months ago (even though I'm not getting married until Feb. 2011). I received prompt responses from Chandlyn as well as her assistant, Roxanne (I believe that was her name) and got the poolside recetion booked. I happened to go there for vacation/site visit in May and met with Chandlyn as well and booked a few more things such as the steel band, DJ, etc. I read elsewhere that when Chandlyn got let go, she took everyone's files with her so I'm assuming that everything that I had previously booked is no longer on file. I emailed the new WC a month a half ago to confirm what I had previously booked is still on hold for me, but have yet to hear from anyone. The poolside reception is listed at $65 per person for 2011 weddings, however when I met with Chandlyn, she said she would charge me $55 per person and DJ is $150 an hour. I don't know if these prices are correct as I read that she was overcharging and expecting payment in cash so she could pocket the money....I don't know what the actual costs are suppose to be! Â

  4. Did you have things booked before you got there or did you have to start 'fresh' seeing that there was a change in WC? I'm worried because I booked the poolside reception and did receive confirmation that it would be held for me but also heard that when Chandlyn left, she took all the files with her. I tried contacting the new WC just to make sure that what I had previously booked with Chandlyn is still reserved for me but of course, I haven't received any emails from them at all. Â
  5. Thanks for the review! Your pics are amazing and glad to hear your wedding went smoothly! I recently read another review from another bride and she had a bad experience with the new wedding coordinator, Tina, and was making me really nervous! Seems like there are a few coordinator's there that are great and some that aren't very helpful...I wonder if we're able to chose which one we want to work with?!?!

  7. Thanks for your quick reply to my questions! I thought I read on the forum that Tina is the new WC? Has this changed again? Also, I thought the white chairs were $5 each for the ceremony (which they also use for the reception)...if you opt out of this, you get the brown chairs....has this changed also?!
  8. Thanks for the review and great pics! Just a few questions... - did you have to pay extra for the chairs at your ceremony? - did you pay to have the extra decor at the beach reception (lights around the tree) or did you bring your own? If they were your own, did you have to have guests set them up or did the staff do it for you? You mentioned that the staff no longer set up help with the set up and I'm worried because I don't want my guests to spend a whole lot of time helping with the decor as well, if I order flowers from an outside vendor, how will I have this set up?! - does the 4 post bamboo arch cost extra? - when you met with Antonette, did she or the new WC have any of your previous correspondence with Chandlyn? Thanks in advance!!

  10. Princess402 - Thanks for your suggestion. I went onto their website for a contact phone number but none is listed!! However, I did call a bridal store to ask if they had a phone number for them but the one they have cannot be released to customers and the sales rep said that she's not able to call on my behalf to ask which stores they have sent a sample dress too....so frustrating!! I just ended up emailing them so hopefully they will get back to me soon! jen_trev - I called a few stores to ask if they are able to order a sample dress for me but none of the stores do that. I'm surprised that you were able to get a sample dress ordered for so cheap! One store told me that they pay almost full price of the dress when ordering it as a sample. Thanks for your suggestion though, it was worth a try!
  11. Hello, I found a dress online that I would like to try on before purchasing it. I'm from Toronto and have called many bridal stores to see if they have a sample of the dress I could try on but no luck. I even called stores within a few hours drive from where I am as well as a few stores in the states (Buffalo, New York). Does anyone know where I can find a sample of this dress to try on?!?!   13. I just got back from Jamaica last night. I was there from May 20 to May 24. Flew into Montego Bay then took the bus to Ocho Rios with no problems at all.

  18. I was never told that they would lower the price (if it comes lower) after the deposit was made. I will definitely talk to my TA about that...I'm always afraid that once we book, the prices drop and I'll be kicking myself!
  19. I say book as soon as possible so you're not disappointed if it's not available. I know some brides booked when they got to the resort and they were lucky enough to get it but you just never know. Also, I contacted the WC and she sent me the menu for the buffet for the poolside reception and it's just one menu...no other options.
  20. Martini - In order to secure the wedding date with RIU, just confirm it on their website with your credit card information. They don't actually charge anything to your card. I was told by RIU that you have up until the day before your arrival to the resort to cancel with no fees, however if you decide to cancel when you arrive to the resort, they will charge you a $250 US cancellation fee. With that said, you're able to hold onto your wedding date but you don't necessarily have to book your flights, etc within the 90 days. Hope that makes sense!
  21. ames/Martini - I was given $1727.16 taxes in departing from Toronto. I was also offered the promotion where every 11th person goes for free (they just pay the tax) and we're also planning to distribute the discount amongst all the guests. I wasn't told that best prices come out in June/July...are any of you going to wait until then? We really want to send out our invites by end of May with all the pricing/booking info but now I don't know if I should wait until June/July in hopes of better prices!
  22. ames - just wondering, what kind of prices were you able to get for your guests? I'm getting married at ROR on Feb. 12, 2011 departing from Toronto!
