Would you sneak in a photographer?

It's crazy that there is so much conflicting information on this subject with Beaches/Sandals. And that's why I wanted to make sure I had it in writing so once we're down there, I have my "proof" that this was all approved ahead of time. And I would definitely recommend the same for any Beaches/Sandals brides. I feel bad that you didn't get the same answers I did, but if I remember right, you booked a photographer to do pics off-site, right? I still think that will work out great for you - maybe even better, since you'll have some unique pics with different backgrounds, and not everything will be done at the resort itself -

Air Jamaica cuts # of free checked bags :(

I have been holding off on booking our flights because I'm pretty sure the prices will drop a little more, but now it looks like the extra baggage fee is going to cancel out any savings. That will teach me for waiting -
Hi Inquisitive Mom! Welcome to the forum! I'm also a Beaches bride in May 2010 - what day is your daughters wedding? I know I'm not a recent bride, but I'll try to help as much as I can. Our ceremony is at 4pm, and while we are still in the planning stages, I'm thinking that after the ceremony we'll take some pictures, have a cocktail hour, and then move on to dinner. We are debating between on having a private dinner or not...I like the idea of having it private, but I think spending so much additional money when it's already AI doesn't make sense either. Have you received the menu selection for the private dinner? If not, let me know and I can post it for you. In my opinion, the menu looked good, but nothing extraordinary. For the ceremony we will be using an iPod and probably bringing our own portable sound system (FBIL has a nice one he can bring). I think I'm using Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole when I walk down the aisle, and we have a few songs picked out to be played while the guests are being seated as well. There are some great threads on here for song ideas for the ceremony, first dance, etc. I like the idea of the steel drum band for the cocktail hour, but we are also considering just using the iPod for everything - we have some really great songs picked out and it would save some money as well. I wouldn't worry about the hassle part - the resort staff will take care of everything so it's exactly as your daughter wants it. I'm not sure if you are looking to have a private reception for the dancing part, but I do know they can set up a dancefloor on the beach or in the garden (wherever you are having your private dinner) and I believe the fee for that is $200. Good luck with your planning

Would you sneak in a photographer?
hockeymom97 replied to eec129's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
This was a HUGE concern of mine when we originally booked our DW - my pictures will last forever and it's important to me that that I get what I want - especially for the amount of money that wedding photography costs. Don't get me wrong - a good photographer is worth every cent - I'm just saying it's one of the bigger ticket items when planning a wedding. Anyway....I think I first heard it from TA Jennifer that Sandals/Beaches was changing it's policy so that outside photographers were allowed as long as they booked as a guest with a min 3 night stay. I confirmed this with my TA as well, and I also confirmed it by calling the Beaches Negril resort myself. Even with all that confirmation...I still wanted more, lol. I am following their rules, and I am flying in my own photographer from Chicago, and she will be staying as a guest for 3 - possibly 4 days. But I do NOT want to have any issues on my wedding day, especially when I heard other brides mention that you could have the photographer, but not with all the additional equipment. So I emailed both the resort, as well as my WC, and I have it in writing that there will be no issues. I've already made the reservation for my photographer and her reservation is "flagged" as my photographer, so they know not to give her a hard time. For peace of mind, if I were you I would confirm this with the resort ahead of time, just so you can have it in writing to prevent any problems while you're there....but I think as long as you play by their rules, you'll be fine with using an outside photographer. -

Beaches boscobel brides!
hockeymom97 replied to Shakara's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
Congratulations Shakara!! And to the forum!!! Beaches Boscobel is a beautiful resort and we were considering it for awhile but ended up at Beaches Negril instead. I think we Beaches brides are outnumbered on this forum, but there is still a TON of information here for you to research. I'm sure you'll find everything you're looking for and more!! Happy planning -

Has anyone used a "send and seal" invite for their DW?? I have been going back and forth about our invites. I really wanted to do a pocket invite, but with the number of invites I need to do (approx 115) the cost is just insane. I even looked into doing it myslef, but it was still more than I wanted to spend and realistically, I don't have the time right now. And when I looked at other invites that were more reasonable, I just didn't find anything that stood out, where I said, "oh, yeah; that's my invite!". And I'll be honest - it just kills me to spend $500 - $1000 on invites that are going to hang on on someone's fridge for a few months and then be thrown away. We're trying to have this DW on a buget and I need to skimp where I can so I can splurge in other places. For example, my OOT bags are costing lots, but I know those are things our guests will keep and use again. I just don't want to come across as being super cheap, because I'm not - we just need to save where we can Anyway......I received a "seal and send" invite for a co-workers wedding not too long ago and I thought this might be perfect for a casual beach wedding! They were really cute and it uses much less paper so it's kind of "green" if you care about that kinds of stuff, which I actually do. I didn't find a design I liked online so I'm designing ours myself. I'm almost done and will post pics soon!! But since I hadn't seen anyone post about this style before I was just curious if anyone else had done this?? I've attached a couple samples - but these are not my invites. They're just to give you an idea of a seal and send invite of you haven't seen one before. sas sample.pdf sas sample 2.pdf

Does anyone have pixs from Beaches Negril Wedding?

We choose the Tropical Passion Package $1800 & then bought all our photos (over 300) for $2000. The photo album is very nice & comes in a box as well as the video. They actually stayed over our time limit to finish capturing our reception. Our whole group felt at ease with both Nicola & Vevan and throughout the rest of our stay they both remembered us by name as well as our family. They made our experience very personal. I was worried about the photo’s before we left, but there was nothing to worry about with these two. Welcome back I'm so glad to hear that you were able to capture the pictures you wanted! The photography definitely seems to be one of the major stress points with Beaches/Sandals brides, so you have to be so relieved that everything exceeded your expectations. I can't wait to see your pictures!!!! -

Airtran flying to Montego Bay!!

If the flights are cancelled, or run into a mechanical issue and you do not make it to the destination in time -you may not be able to get legally married! Or, if your guests book on these flights and run into these issues they will likely miss your wedding!Of course if you put in a few days wiggle room then you won't have to sweat it out! Without codesharing there are extremely limited options on what these airlines will do to get you to the destination on time- they will not care ( unless your lucky!) that you will not be able to get married. There obligation is to get you to the destination on the next available flight- that could be days later if the next flights are full ! I'm certainly not trying to be a party pooper- just wanted keep from any future heartbreak! The good news is these will be great at possibly keeping the prices down as more seats will be available and this will be great for site visits and vacations! Thanks for the info! Does Air Jamiaca "code share"? Right now it seems like they have the only non-stop flight out of Chicago and is probably the airline we will end up using. -
If you do a search under DIY thread, I know I have seen brides post templates for these

Any Chicago area 2010 brides out there?
hockeymom97 replied to hockeymom97's topic in Brides Roll Call
Hi everyone - I'm really sorry that I've been MIA I really haven't been on the forum for the past couple of weeks - sorry!!! Things have been even more hectic than normal in my life including drama with my ex that I don't really can't get into righ now, and then I had to go out of town to Michigan last week for my son's hockey tournament. We obviously missed our date of 9/22 for getting together but maybe we can try again sometime? I at least wanted to stop in and say hi and let everyone know I'm still alive, lol. How's everyone's planning going? -
Hi Everyone - I was so excited about joining season 7 but things have been too hectic here and I haven't been online for over a week I guess I need to go back and read the rules, but is it too late for me to join?

Need advice for Turks and Caicos alternatives!

Just something to think about.... Kim This was unfortunately one of the deciding factors on why we didn't choose T&C The airfare was much more expensive than any other destination we were considering (even tho T&C was my favorite pick) and this may have changed since then but when I was researching resorts I was unable to find any non-stop flights to T&C. Flights with layovers worry me as it's just one more chance for luggage to get lost and for my DW that's the last thing I need. But the island looks gorgeous and we are definitely planning a trip there later on - maybe 1 year anniversary But if you do decide to stay with T&C, I would still consider Beaches - my son is going to our our Beaches wedding in Jamaica and he'll be 13 at the time so he is WAY past Sesame Street age, lo - so I wasn't specifically looking for a kid friendly resort, but I did want somewhere that had a variety of activities that could cater to us, as well as all of our guests, and I really think Beaches does that. And like others have mentioned, there are ways to have adult time and not be constantly surrounded by kids. Whatever destination/resort you choose, good luck with your planning! -
I may be a little late but here are my babies.....

This dress in Cancun?
hockeymom97 replied to angelalanahung's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think you should wear the dress that you LOVE and makes you feel beautiful I don't think you should have to choose a less formal dress just because you're on the beach - it's YOUR day! But I do think you should consider how you'll feel in the dress as well as how you look. For me personally, I know I get very crabby when I'm hot, lol - so I've been thinking about comfort as well when looking at dresses. No matter how good I look in a dress, I know I'd just be too miserable if I was hot and sweaty and that's no fun. But if you think you'll be comfortable in the dress - then I say go for it! -
Congratulations and to the forum!!
