I'd love to meet some other Chicago brides. We are currently waiting for confirmation that our date has been approved from Paradisus Punta Cana and I'll finally be able to breath a little! And NO I haven't even started thinking about my dress yet. Sorry to hear about your cousin and your godmother What horrible news and how sad to have 2 very close people to you impacted like that. My thoughts are with you and I hope they both pull thru ok. And similar to what you said I'm worried my mom may not be able to travel to our wedding now. There's a part of me that almost wants to cancel the destination wedding - or at least postpone it. My parents were probably going to be my only family able to make it. It's just kind of sucked the excitement out of me. In the beginning I was obessed with this site and I loved looking at all my planning stuff but now it's like a chore - just one more thing I have to do. And I know it shouldn't feel this way....... I think I just have to take it day by day for now and hope things improve. But omg, do I need to get moving on my dress. I think I'm going to see if I can make it into David's Bridal this Sat and see what happens.
  2. I sent out our STD's about 11 months in advance. The STD had our wedding website info, which contained all the travel info so guests could start booking well in advance. However I didn't send out the actual invites until the beginning of January (about 4 months in advance) with an RSVP date of Feb 14th. I figured that gives me about 2 and a half months for things like the reception, OOT bags, etc. In retrospect, I wish I would have sent them out a little sooner, but not too much.
  3. Congratulations and welcome back!! Your dress looked fabulous and you both just looked so freakin happy - it's awesome Can't wait to see more pictures!!
  4. Very sorry to hear about the cancellation I know it sounds cliche but like others have said I really do believe that everything happens for a reason. Hang in there, sell those dresses, and use the money to splurge on something totally indulgent for yourself!
  5. If you are having an adults only wedding then I think Sandals is a great choice. At first glance it may appear to be more expensive, but when you consider all that you get for the price, in my opinion it's worth the cost. Their resorts are fabulous, and all your food, drinks - this is especially something to consider if your family tends to run up a large bar bill when on vacation and entertainment are included, as well as your transportation to and from their airport. Plus, it's just my opinion, but I like knowing all my costs up front and choosing an all inclusive makes that part easy.

The cups (steins)... they were HUGE hits. People not in our party wanted mugs, we gave out a few extras! (factory 21-ebay) Nips- mini bottles of captain morgan's and malibu rum were put in each cup. Beach Kits- gel san, mini chocolates, gum, scentsy tins, SPF, tylenol, immodium, tums, band-aids. I think people looked at the welcome letters and really liked them, but that was the extent. Things people did not use: Mini beach balls which was an added thing we had leftovers from our almost married reception. Deck of cards- never saw anyone playing with them. Pashmina's- not one girl wore hers. Postcards as our guest book.. Im pretty sure we wont get one of them back! I feel like Im leaving out a few things. But all in all. I think all you really need is a fun "beach kit", a beach bag, and the cups/steins to make a perfect OOT bag! Guests really love them. Welcome back!! I can't wait to see your pics and hear about how everything went!

  8. I'm glad to see this thread is still alive I haven't been on the forum at all in what seems like ages and I feel SO behind in my planning My mom was diagnosed with cancer not too long ago and has been in the hospital for about the last week. It's hard to think about the wedding while dealing with her not being well. But I'm trying to motivate myself so I can start getting things done. My wedding is in 3 months and I have not even bought my dress yet...I'm so stressed!!! How is everyone else's planning going?
  9. Thanks for sharing your list Sherri!! I love all the pictures being under one account and being able to buy one CD that has all of them!

  11. I know I'm a day late (I haven't been on here in sooooo long!!) but wanted to say Congrats Lisa!! Hope your day was fabulous and everything you ever wanted Can't wait to see your pics!!
  12. I'll admit that I do LOVE corset backs as well, but I think this dress is gorgeous just the way it is and you should definitely leave it as is. The buttons down the back look amazing and I think someone else mentioned this as well, but what if they mess it up when adding the corset? Just leave it as it is

  14. I just bought the DVD and I'm undecided about it. I've only done level one so far and my only real issue is that I HATE jumping jacks. I've got a big chest, so any bouncing like that is not good, lol. When I do cardio, I go for things like the elipptical or the stationary bike - definitely no running. Maybe I can just do some other form of cardio during the jumping jacks part...not sure.
  15. I hope it helped at least someone out I thought it was a great deal, and if all our money wasn't going to the wedding right now I think we definitely would have planned a vacation there!
  16. Hi Ladies! I haven't been on the form at all in so long - I think it's been weeks! Just so much going on at home and at work, that anything wedding related has kind of been pushed to the side for a little bit. I've missed being on here so much tho! Plus the whole diet/work out things hasn't been going so well I've honestly been watching what I eat and keeping my calories under 1500 a day and doing at least 3 hours of cardio a week, plus some weights. In the beginning I lost about 15 lbs...and then NOTHING. I've been stuck there for the last few weeks even tho I keep doing the right things and it's so frustrating. I seriously think something may be messed up with my thyroid or hormones or something because this just doesn't seem right. And because of the weight issue I've been procratonating like crazy about going to buy a dress. Now I'm under 6 months out and still no dress. I'm going to force myself to go in the next couple of weeks. I just dread going to try on dresses and being the fat girl that they can't squeeze into the sample sizes...uggg. Now on to a lighter note... Quote: Originally Posted by Prettyhazardous Hey ladies I'm back from my wedding and Now I get to say "To hell with dieting I've got my man" hahaha. LOL J/K but I'm done dieting. How's everyone been? Your pics are beautiful and I LOVE your dress! I was worried that if were to pick a "flowy" dress that when the wind was blowing it would cling in all the wrong spots but you look fantastic!! It's making me think a "flowy" dress may still be an option Quote: Originally Posted by Erika J Opps posted before I was done and then had major photobucket issues! Also I think my fake teeth look totes good too! Erika - you can't even see any scars at all! You look beautiful!! If I could look that fabulous on my wedding day I'd be super happy

Ms.Tiffany Yep, I've seen the pics on the web site and I have a bunch of Beaches brochures as well - but thank you! I was more curious about if it makes a difference which building your in. For example, the Grande Lux category is available in 3 different buildings - Santa Cruz, Savannah and Montpelier...so was just wondering if anyone had opinions on one building over another.

Some of the colors are a little hard for me to make out on the website. For example, what's the difference between P-017 and P-019. I want a variety of bright colors. Could you tell me some of your best sellers? or give me recommendations? Thanks! Tricia Hi Tricia. To get a faster response you might be better off emailing me at [email protected] As far as the 2 colors mentioned, the 19 is more fuchsia/hot pink. It is definitely brighter than number 017, and it is also one of the best sellers. As for best sellers, all of the purple shades are going really well, and the silver number pa-028 is a big seller. For solids, numbers 35, 25, 13, 24 have also been big sellers. It seems like almost every order these days includes number 13. If you have any other questions just let me know. " Thanks so much for posting this - it really helps with making a decision because PA-019 does not look pink at all on my screen - at work it looks more coral and at home it looks more red. I think I'm going with the 19. I know I could order a more neutral color to be on the "safe" side, but I think the fuschia is more fun
  19. I'm also torn on colors I really like the idea of ordering them in my wedding colors (fuschia and bright orange - but was only going to order fuschia, not both colors). However on my computer screen, none of them really look fuschia. Do any look fuschia to you guys? Someone mentioned PA-019 was fuschia but on my screen it looks more coral/red. So I'm not sure how to really tell what the true color is. I don't want to get stuck with a color that doesn't match at all. My second choice was just to go with a lighter pink that might be more nuetral anyway - PA-031. Or I could just skip the wedding colors and do white. I think I'd prefer to do a color - just not sure which one. Decisions, decisions....
  20. I was just about to email my order, but I just realized I'm not sure what the price is, lol. Yea, that might help Can you let me know what the cost would be for 15 pashminas, shipping to Chicago? Thank you!!
  21. We are having a semi-formal AHR. It started out as a casual party, but once FMIL added her opinion (and checkbook, lol) it turned into more of a traditional reception. I'm excited about being able to celebrate with all the people that won't be able to attend our DW, and I love that I'll get to wear my dress again. However I'm trying not to stress about the details too much, because I have a feeling once the DW is over, I'm not going to care as much about all the little things that seem like such a big deal right now. I really think that's the beauty of a DW - all the rules go out the window!! No one "expects" anything to be a certian way, and you have flexibility and creativity with planning both your DW as well as the AHR (if you decide to have one).
  22. I had never heard of this diet until I saw someone mention it in another thread today, so I searched the forum for more info and found this thread. It's definitely an interesting concept, but I have to say, I'm kind of nervous/skeptical about buying this type of stuff online. Meagan - what site do you use to buy the drops? Are the drops less potent then the actual injections? I know there's no way I could do injections - I hate shots!
  23. If anyone is still deciding on a resort or has any interest in the Palace resorts, I just received an email that they are offering a $400 airfare credit. The link to the promotion in below. Just thought I would share - I hope it can help someone save a little money Palace Resorts - Welcome to the Official Site
  24. Like others have posted, we included our wedding web address on our DW STD. When we sent out our STD magnets for the DW, we did not have details for the AHR nailed down yet, but we included information on the web site that said something like - we understand that unfortunately not everyone will be able to celebrate with us in Jamaica, but that we'll be having a second reception one we return home, so that hopefully everyone will be able to celebrate with us. We also included that we didn't have a set date or location, but that it would be somewhere towards the middle of June (because that's about all we knew at that point). Then once we set the date and location for the AHR we sent out another STD, just for the AHR. I know 2 STD's may seem like too much but for us, it was just the easiest way. Quote: Originally Posted by midnight24 my question is for anyone who can answer is...what if we aren't sure we are going to do an AHR before we send out the STD's? is that ok? There's nothing wrong with that - if you don't know, you don't know. But I would recommend letting people know as soon as you do figure it out. The more notice you can give them the better.
