I found my dress!!!
hockeymom97 replied to mlabbe's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
It's beautiful, even with the "poof". But I do think it will look even more beautiful after the alterations. And you look amazing in it as well -
Save the date etiquette help!
hockeymom97 replied to alberthathrasher's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Another vote for including your wedding website on the Save the Date and then you can list more detailed infor about the pricing and how to make travel arrangements as well as information about the AHR as well. That's what we did -

I'm at work so haven't had time to read thru the whole thread (I should probably be working, lol) but are we able to pick our colors? I was going to order pink ones from this same site, but was just waiting until it was closer to my date. I have no ideas on numbers since I haven't sent my invites out yet, lol but I can guestimate. If we can pick our color, then I think I'm in. I'd probably order 12 to 15.

Aw My Enagement Teasers!
hockeymom97 replied to xxashleyxx007's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
They are adorable!! You look SO happy :) -
Congratulations and to the forum!! It sounds like you are flexible on your actual date so that may make things easier. We booked a year ahead of time, but had a specific date in mind, and even at a year out, some resorts were already booked for our date. I agree with other posters that just because a resort is situated on the beach, it doesn't mean you are limited to the ceremony on the beach. Most resorts have at least a couple of locations - especially the larger AI type resorts. I love using an AI even though it may seem more expensive upfront, I really think it's a good value once you figure in the food and drinks (especially your bar bill!!). So I think the first step is picking a resort that you like - there is tons of information on this board, including some very, very helpful TA's who can provide lots of insight and assist in finding a resort that fits your requirements - whether you decide to go with an AI or not. Then you can narrow down the date based on the resort availibility and pricing - for example, I think May would probably be slightly cheaper than June/July when kids are out of school and families start to travel. And once you get the resort and date picked, you can move on to the fun stuff Happy Planning!!

Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!
hockeymom97 replied to 2bebridejamaica's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Quote: Originally Posted by SheriB Beaches Turks & Caicos was one of my top picks but then I got looking at travelling from Western Canada - long and expensive!! Had to rule it out I think. Beaches T&C was also one of my top choices. I especially liked it since it was somewhere that neither FI had ever been too, so this would kind of make it "our" place. I've been to Jamaica many times, including some trips with an ex-boyfriend which I'm sure FI would rather not think about, lol. But after a little research, we discovered there were no direct flights to T&C (at least from Chicago or MI, where most of our guests will be traveling from), and the airfare was much more expensive. I was ok with paying the additional cost but didn't want to burden our guests with that. So we decided Negril was a compromise Even though it wasn't my first choice, I still think we're going to have a great time! -

I may also have to cut paying for an excursion for all our guest wheewww I don't event want to think about how much that would cost to pay for 80-100 guest to go on an excursion lol.... but I think by teh end of December I will have a better idea of how many people will really be there, give or take a couple guest may book at the last minute but most people need more time to make payments. Has anyone had guest book a month or 2 before the trip ? Not to stress you out, but I've seen brides post on here about guests who literally booked the week before!!! I'm sure this is the exception, not the rule, but I'm sure it does happen to some people. Congrats! I had a feeling they would give you your room for free because of the high numbers you have. I think our resort does the same thing - if you book at least 25 rooms, then your room is free. This should definitely help with your costs and depending on your final guest count as the day gets closer, who knows...you may be able to add back some of the things you thought you had to cut out

Any Chicago area 2010 brides out there?
hockeymom97 replied to hockeymom97's topic in Brides Roll Call
Based on how hard it's been to get everyone together it seems fair to say we all have some crazy schedules, lol. And I feel guilty baout not being able to make any time for this, especially since I was the one who started this thread I'd still love to be able to meet up, but recently my work schedule isn't allowing for much. Last week I think the earliest I left work was 6:45pm; and one night I was even there until almost 8pm!! And then trying to make sure I fit in at least 3 or 4 nights at the gym each week - it's been tough. I think the bottom line is that we probably all won't be able to make it on any given date, but if someone wants to set a date and hopefully at least a few DB's can make it, I think that would be great. Unfortunately my schedule has me doing a lot of things last minute since I never know what's going to come up at work. So when we have a date set, I will definitely do my best to make it, but it may mean a last minute decision for me. Sorry ladies -
TV Show "Say Yes To The Dress Wedding Dress"
hockeymom97 replied to SgtPepperette's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
I LOVE Say Yes to the Dress!! And I LOVE Randy!! He seriously pickes THE perfect dress for every bride without even blinking an eye - he's awesome! I would love to go to Kleinfelds just so Randy could put me in the perfect dress. Too bad most of their dresses are way more than I want to spend. Although I have seen a few episodes where the brides say their budget is like $1000...but then the salespeople just look at them like they're crazy, lol. -
Airtran Airways flying to Jamaica
hockeymom97 replied to msmoodyr's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I'm surprised....I just checked out the Airtran flights from Chicago and it's only $30 cheaper than if we use Air Jamaica! Plus...the AJ flight is non-stop, where as Airtran has one layover. I think I'll stick with the non-stop flight. -
I can't find the thread right now but one of the TA's on the forum said that they let you take them off for the day. And I'm going to belive this is true, as I haven't seen any brides (or guests for that matter) with wristbands on in nay of the DW pictures posted on this site.

Very cute! I had been looking at including beach towels in our OOT bags but everywhere that did the embroidery was much higher priced. I think you got a great deal on these How was the quality on the towels? And what size did you order? -

Sister's Wedding Cancelled - Lots to Sell!
hockeymom97 replied to JHune's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I'm really sorry to hear about your sister. How horrible to have to deal with that I know you mentioned that the ornaments and the blue boxes were sold already, but do you happen to know where she purchased them?
