  1. Congrats I love the dress-it looks great on you! I hope I have the same problem with my dress!
  2. I guess I'll be the first to post a pic of Halloween! We didn't see many original costumes - my friend was a Russian dancer that was pretty funny, my brother was a hipster also clever (he wore my skinny jeans!) and on Friday he was Marty McFly with his friend who was Doc Brown from Back to the Future. Tif- I love the baker and cinnamon roll idea! Everyone else post pics I love Halloween costumes! Brother & Friend as Doc Brown (complete with Flux Capacitor print out) & Marty McFly My Brother as a hipster complete with my skinny jeans- FI & I as Wayne & Garth Party On! Us Again: And My Friend as the Russian dancer w/fake beard! (a little blurry)
  3. My inspiration for the bridesmaids is similar to Rach's here is my pic:
  4. I think its fine too - I kinda did half and half I didn't know who I should say and guest and not say it for (divorcees? Widows?) But I'm sure if they really want to bring someone they will.
  5. Tough situation- my parents are paying for the whole wedding and asked for no gifts while my FIL's are not contributing anything - not that we expected it but we are saving them money by not having a rehearsal dinner and such- but they keep complaining about how expensive the wedding is and how much we are putting them out - and I know they are expecting gifts (probably a diamond necklace like your FMIL) Good luck - these things never work out well IMO.
  6. Congrats What a great engagement story! Post the Pics when you get them!!
  7. I think that if you just tell her that you don't have the money for both she will understand, or just kinda throw it out there and she how she reacts. She could do her hair and makeup herself so its not like she needs to spend more money if she doesn't want to. I would just talk to her and see what you guys can work out. Good Luck!
  8. Oh I like those belts and I never thought of moving the skirt up I thought I had to live with it low like that (and I'm not sure how that would look with the short length) Now I just don't know how to do something with the top I feel like it needs something so its not so plain
  9. I agree with Jess I would have your Dad compliment the guys but not match. Good luck!
  10. I hope everything thing goes ok! What a horrible situation. All the advice is great on here, the one thing I keep thinking is that your Mom probably really wants to come to see you get married so you should make it clear that if she is going to be there then she can't pull this crap. Maybe you can say how she will get attention because she is the mother of the bride so she doesn't have to cause a scene for attention. Good Luck
  11. I think that any veil would look good as long as it was simple to compliment the dress, also if you want you could just wear it for the ceremony. I love the shoe idea -great choice.
  12. Nikki mine took a couple of months, but I think she might have lost it or forgotten. It was definitely worth the wait though!
  13. I need some ideas. I have been searching for a white cocktail dress to wear for my legal day, but have found nothing. I went to the bridal shop I got my actual wedding dress from and found some nice BM dresses that come in white but they were all around $200 and I really wanted to stay under a $100. I have been thinking about having light in the box custom make a dress I like on the website for me in white but I am worried I won't like the way it fits me when I get it and I don't really want to waste a hundred bucks. Anyway today while I was at the bridal shop I was just browsing and found this dress on clearance. So I bought it thinking I can alter it to what I want or just sell it if I find something else. So I need some ideas of how I can make the dress into something I can wear again, I am definitely making it knee length and I am wearing blue shoes so I thought I could do a blue sash or something, but I don't want it too look to bridal. Any and all ideas will be appreciated thanks soo much for your help!! Here's me in the dress:
  14. This is a great thread! I wanted to know the same thing a few months ago!! I am paying for my photog's travel and half of her second shooter's (her FI) travel & stay. It includes our engagement shoot & a cd of all the pics taken, my BD shoot and all the pics, full coverage on the wedding day by both of them and our TTD. She is GREAT to work with and she is moving to Hawaii so if you either live in Illinois or are getting married in Hawaii I totally recommend her! here is her blog: Britten Traughber Photography
  15. Congrats! What a great engagement story! Good Luck Planning - Rivera Maya and PV are my favorite Mexico spots
  16. they look great I can't believe its a DIY - looks like you bought the napkin ring! Good Job!
  17. I love dress Number 1 and think it would be perfect for the beach wedding, I agree the other one is a lot more formal and is so dark, it might stick out. That being said if she is soo convinced number 2 is right for the beach maybe this might be a battle you shouldn't fight. Also maybe she will find a dress she likes better that is more formal than the first but still beach appropriate - then she can wear the first one to the rehearsal - doesn't hurt to look she might realize she already has the perfect dress. Maybe when she sees the bm dresses & MIL dress & your dress together she will see it is really formal. Maybe create a collage of all the dresses and one with dress #1 & dress#2 and you mom will see the first dress is great for the beach. (or maybe she can change after the ceremony so she gets best of both worlds)
  18. Your pics are Great!! You look amazing! I love your dress it is very similar to mine! I am hoping my photog will take pics throughout the week like this too!
  19. I have never done it in Jamaica but several times in Mexico, you can go through the concierge but we always went through guys from the marina. I just got back from Negril and there were a lot of deep sea fishing salesmen on the beach. My Dad suggests that you look for some options online and then talk to the guys at the marina (if you are close to one) or the concierge (if you are not close to a marina) Good Luck its tons of fun - make sure you tell them if you want to catch fish you can eat or mounting fish. We also go for the fish you can eat & have the hotel restaurant cook it for us. Lots of restaurants do this. Also we bring extra fish home
  20. I am not doing these as we will be at an AI and wont need to carry cash on us- but I know a lot of brides have done them but I am not sure how waterproof these ones are, they are the ones I most commonly see.. Personalized Beach Safe Containers I always just leave my stuff in my beach bag I might be too trusting oops!
