  1. Well I think it kinda depends on what kind of veil you want - I think there are some that go good with pretty much all dresses. I would just go to bridal shops and try on a bunch then see if you like a certain kind. Also what kind a veil you like might help you decide on your hair-do. Maybe bring a photo of your dress to show the sales ladies for advice on how to match your dress. Good luck!
  2. You guys look great congrats! We just did ours and I can't wait to see them!! I like your studio session too - our photog suggested we do one and your pics make me want to do it now!
  3. AlexsBride - I think it is cheaper to DIY but it does require more (a lot) time on your part. I made 150 boarding pass invitations and they were only $180 including stamps and envelopes. And for the jackets I just got white card stock and printed a colorful design on it (so it was super cheap!) I think if you have the patience it is worth it to DIY - it makes it so much more fun and you are so proud of your work! We got so many compliments on the invitations- they even said they were better than some professional ones they saw. But also I really enjoy doing things like this - so I really recommend it! Good luck - either way your guests will love them
  4. I Forgot to post mine!! I just LOVE IT!! THANKS MISTI!!
  5. She did mine a few months ago!! I just love it!! I already sent it to be a luggage tag for our 'reminders'
  6. I like finleys idea of writing it on the side when its closed - or maybe you could write the date on the inside when its open - not sure how that would work!
  7. Ok now Im confused - do we all have to get the same colors for the discount? The website that SuzyQ posted it seems like you can order different colors.
  8. I think your good - the pails won't start on fire or anything (I think) I really like the way they look and with more sand and shells they will be perfect!!! I think you can check this off the list!!!
  9. I'm jealous we did ours Saturday and our Photog said it would be a while until they were up!! You look great!! The jeans look good together and your FI rocked his sneakers!! I really love the engagement ring shot - I wish I saw that before my shoot I really wanted a creative way to take a pic of it! And I love the balloon pic! Congrats!
  10. Aww thanks Christie!! I mentioned liking the mantilla veils and the lady grabbed that one - I love the edging how its more delicate, and even better it was $60 on clearance! I just love veils - keep them coming ladies!
  11. Here is her website and here is the contact page that is how I contacted her! ABOUT MISTI CONTACT This I think is her email you could try that too! [email protected]
  12. I think it is a great idea and you only need the placecards if you want them!
  13. I was looking through the engagement stories today and thought I would post ours! My FI wrote about the engagement story on our website so I thought that would be the best way to tell you ladies also! Preface: I figured he was going to do it,but it was still a surprise and surreal. I made it real hard for him because I kept telling him to wait because I was trying to do my hair for dinner - we missed most of the sunset but it was awesome. Also the ring didn't fit (it was just a bit snug) so I had to go back to the room and stick my finger in the ice bucket before I could slip it on! There was NO WAY I was going the next 11 days without my ring! lol. Here is his story and some pics!!! She said Yes! In early January, 2009, I had decided that I was going to propose to Annette, and I had already had a plan in mind: I was going to surprise her with a vacation. In my initial plan, I was going to propose to her in Paris... too cliché. Then, I was going to take her to Spain, however, that was too expensive. Finally, I remembered how she had always talked about Jamaica, and how she wished she could go back. So, Jamaica seemed like the natural choice. I began looking around and eventually I decided on the RIU Tropical Palace in Negril. I booked the trip, however, there was a few obstacles remaining. First, Annette had planned her graduation party during the time in which I had already booked our trip. Second, I didn't want to mess up her luggage. After discussing it with my Mom and her Mom I figured that it would be best to tell her that I was taking her to Jamaica as a graduation present. So, Annette's Mom put a picture of the resort, which she had obtained via "Vacation Magazine," in a box and wrapped it up. Annette opened it and a few days later we were flying to Jamaica. My plan was to propose to her on the beach on the first evening so that the rest of the vacation would be a celebration of our new engagement. However, getting her out to the beach that evening was entirely too difficult that evening. Somehow, we managed though, and we made it as the sun was just about finished with setting. We stopped at a couple of lounge chairs where I pulled out the ring and asked if she would marry me. Immediately, she dropped to her knees in shock and her eyes began to tear up and that is when she said Yes! Right After! Don't mind the cuts - jeez I was not ready for hand close ups! I got a little obsessed with the ring during the vacation
  14. As I said my parents just got back from PV and they visited the church. My mom took some pictures and she got some of the alter & the flowers displayed (it was a Monday morning) so I am assuming that the flowers will be similar for the weddings they do. Also I just talked to Padre Gonzalo today and he said to wire the money to him to pay for the wedding - did anyone else pay like this? I am a little nervous we are going to show up for our wedding and no one will be there!!!

After this decision was made, I couldn’t go wrong! Video – I am glad we got this; it wasn’t the best video but it let me see things that I missed either because I wasn’t feeling well, or because I just wasn’t around when it happened. And if there are any guests that couldn’t make it that want to see, they’re able to watch the video. Welcome Dinner – I’d do the dinner again; but I would make sure the details were clear. I’d also maybe have it more casual (well, technically this is what I asked for!). Marilu screwed up about everything! It was nice for everyone to be in one place and meet the day before the wedding. Bus to the Marina for Wedding- it was so nice for all of the guests to arrive in one, easy way. DJ – I just didn’t want to deal with any of the music, especially on the wedding day. Paul had made some CDs and he played some from those, and some of his own music. He did a great job of reading the crowd and playing some fun music. Trio – Everyone said they were good, and I briefly heard them before I walked down the aisle, but not much beyond that. I am sure it was great for the guests as they were arriving and during cocktail hour – so I am glad I did it. Maybe I’d ask for them to be closer to the ceremony if I did it again. Chuppah - I’m glad I went with the bamboo chuppa and decorated it the way I did – it was totally us, and I thought it looked nice. Rose petal toss It made for some funny pictures when the petals went down my dress! Dreams – Everyone loved this place! It was perfect for our group – it had everything we needed. Leigh Miller – This is one area where I don’t regret spending the extra $$ - so happy with our decision here! Not only because of her work, but she’s a great person too – fun to be with and hang out with! OOT Bags – Guests loved some of the contents, and some didn’t get used as much. But it was fun for everyone to get a bag w/their little gifts. Laid back attitude – For the most part, I let Nicole (the WC) run with everything. I had given her some pictures of what I liked for the cake, bouquet, centerpieces, chuppa, etc. and she did a fabulous job. I am so glad I never got all stressed out about the minor details! I WOULD CHANGE: Cake – Not that I wish I had skipped it, but it really wasn’t necessary if I was looking to cut back. Paul did want the cake cutting pics – but beyond that, not sure it needed to be there! OOT Bags – I’d do these again, for sure, but I’d do them a little differently. I’d get the soft-sided coolers I think, something more useful and practical. I don’t know that any of my guests will be keeping their bags – not sure I even will! TTD We bailed on Leigh the night before because we weren’t feeling. Part of me just wished we had sucked it up and done it – those pics would be so fun! We’re still going to do it though … Flight Schedule – We left the day after the wedding for Hawaii – I totally wish we would have had one day after the wedding to relax, and say goodbye to all of our guests. Dress – I’m torn on this one. I loved my dress, but I really didn’t need to spend as much as I did on it to feel the way I did. I can honestly say that I think it would have been just as amazing had I worn my $99 David’s Bridal dress. That could be because I didn’t feel like a million dollars that day (sick), but I wish I just would have gone with something simpler – it wouldn’t have taken away from the whole experience. Ann - What company did you use for the bus? I need a bus to the marina from our hotel also!
  16. This is some good info, when I first came to this site I noticed how many people get married in Cuba and I hadn't even thought of it as an option (apparently for obvious reasons! lol) I would be scared though to go and worry about not being able to get back to the US or something. Which probably wouldn't happen but I'll explore Mexico & the Caribbean more until its on the up & up to visit! Also I think many vacations spots seem scary to some people but after you have been there you get desensitized -which could be a good & bad thing!
  17. I love the idea of raffia I saw that post too!! You are on to something here..
  18. Congrats and welcome!! We are also doing PV, Barcelo la jolla de mismaloya. Good luck finding a resort PV is an awesome location!
  19. I love birdcage veils I want to make one for our legal day. I love #2 because of the way it goes over your face a little. Here is my veil with me & my dress! It is a mantilla style cathedral length veil. I am going to make a blusher for the ceremony. I also got a cathedral length veil for our ttd from a bride on the forum it has a blusher and no establishments. And I agree that this is the only time when you can wear a veil so go for it!
  20. I bet they turn out fine - I had to switch my shoes (since the ones that matched my outfit killed to walk in) and my photog said that most pics my shoes wouldn't be in! I bet they will look great! Congrats
  21. I LOVE your dress! I need to find one for my legal day and it has been soo hard!
