I really wanted my FI input on my dress. He is always very honest about what things he thinks look good on me. I even tried to convince him to come shopping with me, but he really wanted it to be a total surprise for the big day, so I guess I am on my own for determining what looks good.

Hi Sweatpea and all other montreal brides! To answer your question, I was originally planning on getting married in Tulum. I have family in the Cancun area and we have been going down to Tulum now for close to 25 years, and i absolutely love it. After discussing with my fiance we decided to stay in the Cancun area itself. Our guests ages ranges quite a bit. We have a fair amount of elderly people coming down, and at least the hotels are a little more accessible to a hospital god forbid anything were to happen. But for the younger people we wanted them to be able to go out and party their little hearts out! I had gone down for a site visit for the Hilton cancun. Spoke with the wedding co-ordinator and actually started to make arrangements. Then out of the blue I got an e-mail saying that they had a buy out and that they would not have enough rooms for my guests until the day before the actual wedding. This would have been fine, except the majority of people are coming down the week before, which would have meant that everyone would have had to check out of a hotel and then check into the Hilton. All that to say it was way too complicated and not want i wanted people to experience for our destination wedding! I decided on The Gran Melia Cancun! I am lucky that my aunt lives in Cancun so she was able to go and take pics of the ceremony site and the reception area to help me out. So that is my long winded story hopefully i did not bore anyone to death. But if any of you girls are getting married in the Cancun area I would love to help you out. As i said i have been going there basically since birth! Happy Thursday!!

I think mine is the control factor. I really want everything to be perfect and trying to plan a wedding via e-mail is pretty stressful for me. I am so worried that so much of what I want is getting lost in translation. But I am trying to work on my deep breathing, and realize that a lot is just going to have to be done when we actually get to the resort!

I agree the more time the better! gave my guests about 15 months notice as well:)

Nonnie I am so sorry to hear about your dad. It would be great if you can capture your big day on tape for him. I hope that everything for you goes well as well as your father. I can only imagine how upset you must be. Good luck!

I think that you should wear what ever you love! It is your day and you should not let other people change your mind if you have your heart set on something, and age should not be a factor. As long as you love it that is all that matters, and if emphasizing the girls then go sweetheart all the way and knock em' dead! good luck this weekend! let us know how it goes!!
