YAY! Congrats on your legal day!!!!!!!!!

here is the biggest thing that helped me save: I set up an automatic transfer from my checking to my savings. I set it up for the 16th and 1st of each month (the days after payday). I never saw the money and forced myself to budget on what was in my checking and not touch my savings. Because the transfer was set up automatically, it felt like i never had it in my checking long enough to spend! I cut down on eating out, getting my hair/nails done, and limited my shopping and it worked amazing for me. Good Luck!

I havent picked out my special gift yet for MOH, but I Plan to go to her room the night before and suprise her with it, so that it's private. I know the other girls wouldn't mind, but I want to keep it on the DL that she's getting something extra & I'm looking forward to sharing some private time the night before! woo hoo!

you are probably best getting a hotel in the suburbs then, right outside the city, and taking the L in. I'm pretty sure most hotels in the city are going to be around $200 a night!

I dont know if it's normal......but I was planning to do the same thing! BM is FI's only sibling, and my MOH is my best friend since childhood. We're going to do something more expensive for them & extra special!

Its close to the taste (definitely walking distance) and we only paid $159 with tax, which came to around 175. OK this is just me and my relationship.......but I know I could throw them away and be honest with FI about it. I'd say something like "Hey babe, i was cleaning and found stuff from your ex, I figured you definitely didn't want it around so I threw it out.........I knew you wouldn't care". And just Me and MY FI.....he'd be totally fine with that, as long as there was no fight and I wasnt bitching or freaking out. I do like the idea of putting them IN the trash (or gathering them in a box) and telling FI and letting him actually throw them out or take the trash out....that way he is sort of involved. If you say he'd never know and doesn't know he has them then just throwing them out is fine too. If he ever did realize they were gone, he'd probably just figured HE threw them out years ago anyway. Keep us posted!

Wasn't sure where to post this....its kind of a vent and a random thought at the same time! Our legal day is 7-17, and we recently went to the courthouse to get our marriage license. When we got there, we had to show our Drivers License, etc.... so we go through the whole process and get to the end and I realize that my DL (which I got when I was 16) says "Josie" and not my full name "Josephine" don't ask me how it got issued this way......but anyway, they will only issue the marriage license to MATCH the drivers license.....so it says Josie. We pay the $40 dollars and I ask if this will be an issue and the lady says "Yes"....but I can't refund your money now. Oh, thanks lady! She basically tells me that I will not be able to change my last name after we get married because when I send in the paperwork my first name on my SS card and Birth Certificate (Josephine) will not match my marriage license - Josie. She tells me I have to go to the DMV and bring BC & SS Card and get a new license. No big deal, right? Well THEN, I get a speeding ticket and my license is taken by the cops.......so now I don't have one at all!! To make matters worse, the place is only open on wed. and this wed. is FI's bday so we can't go.....so I guess I'll have to pay to get a state ID with "josephine" go back and get another marriage license that says josephine, and pay another 40 dollars........because even though I told the lady about the name issue, she wouldn't refund me! wow, like I don't have enough to do at this point! Anyone else have weird issues with the marriage license?

WOAH!!!!!! She sounds extremely immature. How lovely of her to tell you your babies will not be important to MIL.....that is just disgusting that anyone would say that! To be honest, I highly doubt the family will make negative comments AT your wedding. She is an adult and if she doesnt want to come, it is her choice, and shouldn't effect anyone but her....I am sure that if she ever matures, she will regret her decision, but DONT LET IT RUIN your day.............and DEFINITELY don't let it ruin your plans for a destination wedding! IMO, you will probably have a better time without her there!!! If she does come, she'd probably be pouting the whole time anyway! I'm sorry to hear this!
