  1. OOOH Girls! Loving the news about he maggies only taking 3 months! I ordered mine in April, and they told me it would come in around September............hope it gets here earlier! i have no idea what to expect :)
  2. yay! can't wait to see pics the whole house buying process is DEFINITELY an experience!
  3. I think anything goes for DW... Bridesmaids are USED to paying for their dresses, so its not a big deal. In my case, I AM paying for their dresses as a gift for how much they are spending to come to my wedding........however I found the dresses at JC Penny for $25 dollars and they all loved them! So it was a win-win
  4. Ashley - Your situation sounds extremely painful. I can only tell you that my mother was a victim of extreme abuse both physically & sexually, as was her younger brother. (Abused by a stepdad). My mom was able to cope with her feelings, forgive and move on, but her younger brother could not do the same and cut off all contact with our family, until we recently when he came back into my mom's life and ended up passing away due to drug use, etc.... The point of my little story is that people cope with things in VERY different ways. It sounds like your FI, like many others, has chosen to push the issue aside and not deal with it - by cutting out the family. It is probably less painful for him than having to re-live those events in his mind or be reminded by having a relationship with his mother. I think it's important to understand, and try not to feel guilty, about not inviting them to the wedding. At the time you did not know better, and had only heard one perspective....that part of it is out of your hands now. It is clear that Brian's family is reaching out to him, and trying to establish a relationship. Whether or not he is ready to take those steps is up to him. All you can do is encourage him to talk about these past events and ask him if he will be ready to forgive and build a different foundation. I would just try to be calm and loving, because it's clear that this is a very touchy situation. Would he ever consider professional help? Some things are just out of our hands and professionals can really give the best treatment. Just be the best support system you can be. What are your true feelings on the situation? What does your gut tell you? Good Luck!!! I'll keep you in my thoughts
  5. Katie - Don't worry girl!!! I'll give you the most extensive info ever!!! And I promise to send you ALLLLLLLLLLL my pics and to take a bunch of pics of the rooms, etc

  7. Congrats to you!!!!!!! Moving into your first home is so excting
  8. My final MOH dress fitting is tomorrow...... its a size 10 and I've only lost about 5 lbs so I think they'll have to add on some fabric to make it fit. This week was FI's bday and his parents are coming to town this weekend. Deishue I'm trying my hardest to be super disciplined for you (and of course me). Congrats on the new tatt! Crystal - I can relate girl!

(2) Is anyone having an adults-only reception, and how are you handling this? My FMIL has offered to help with a nanny for that night, has anyone considered this? I'm wondering. PS. MegaShay -- your welcome dinner invites make me want to go to your party right now for a margarita! Josie -- your mom is so sweet to help out with invites -- it's so nice to have someone take that off of your hands! They turned out beautifully! Gr8ful - Thank you I have no idea when to expect respone cards. My guess is that they will come back sporadically. We put a date of 10/18/09 I think as our final date.....but I'm sure people will book even later than that because we have some "last minute" types in our crowd! We're not having an adult only reception, so I'm unhelpful in this regard! But that is nice of your FMIL! best wishes
  12. Des- your shower looks amazing!!!!!!!!! The girls hosting did a wonderful job!!!!!!!! It wasnt a slideshow, just thumbnails
  13. Thanks Girls - I will take your advice. My mom is so excited b/c I told her she could do the invites. We picked them out together but I let her do all the wording. Its kinda silly.......but it's her and I love that. Here is tentatively what they look like, but as you suggested I'll ask her to change the times & put info to follow........like Lisa we'll do a welcome letter with the agenda I'm excited!!

  17. OK Girls - need some help! I'm FINALLY getting around to putting my invitations together. To my fellow NOV brides who've already sent them out - what did you do about the welcome dinner (if you're having one) and the reception times/location & cocktail hour info? My resort won't know which restaurant is available until 2 months before? Also not sure where the cocktail hour/welcome dinner will be? Did you girls address this in your invites? Or how did you get around it?

I am kinda bummed bc the only time left for a wedding is 3:00 and I was really hoping for the latest possible (I've been known to procrastinate)- so I was just wondering for anyone also booked earlier are you concerned about your guests and yourself being HOT, and what are you going to do bt the wedding are reception? Also, what is the earliest that the reception dinner can be done?? Paige - Welcome!!! So excited to have another RIURM bride! My wedding is at 3PM - and to answer you I'm not too concerned about the guests being hot. Mainly because the ceremony only lasts about 1/2 an hour, and November temps at 3PM havent been known to be TOO high. About the reception- it depends on whether you want it private or not. If you're doing a private reception it has to be 2nd seating which is 8:45 or 9PM. This is what I'm doing. Originally I was stressing about about the long time between ceremony & reception......but I think we're going to do a cocktail hour around 7:30 to get the guests back into wedding mode after the ceremony. Also - I figured it was all inclusive and they would have no problem finding fun things to do inbetween and might also like a little down time!
