  1. I am in a similar situation but would advise you to try on dresses that have that "universal" appeal now to a least get the feel for the dress. Yes you will have a new body but I am one to err on the side of caution and order the dress by November and get a really good tailor. That way-picking a beautiful dress that can complement most shapes and sizes would alleviate the nightmare of having something that would look totally different. I too started weight loss for my baby weight and plan to be done with weight loss by December, however, I ordered my dress in my current size and will alter according to weight loss later, as long as I have my dress. Some dress stores not only take a while to get your dress in, but alterations can take a month or two as well. Good Luck. I loved Nicole Miller by the way and is who i went with--awesome, simple and elegant gowns for DW!!
  2. Hi RIU-MB brides. I selected the Caprice package but am thinking that All the extra stuff is not necessary. I would rather concentrate on the decorative part of the ceremony (flowers and trimmings), but other than flowers and linen, the RIU decorations don't really include all that much. What package did you pick if you decided to bring ALL your decorations or a hybrid of bringing some decorations and using RIU's vendors? Trying to piece it all together. So confused.....
  3. Hey! According to Keneika, we are only given one microphone during the ceremony. So I am thinking sound dock and extra mic connected to the sound dock would be a backup option. Good Luck!
  4. I did some research on the provisions offered by having wedding insurance, however, while it sounds comforting for some unforeseen mishaps on your wedding day, I am not sure it is a critical component. Anyone here purchase the insurance and what did it cover? I have a special needs son so I am trying to think ahead in case he gets sick and I have to cancel God forbid, I will be covered with the costs we have already put out. Input definitely welcome!
  5. BB2Be, Thanks much for your input. I could have not said it better. We are having an overflow of about 30 people which translates to approx $1600 extra than we planned. May seem small, but for us its a lot. The kicker is the folks that were invited can well afford it, however, as you said it would be rude to ask them to pay so in the end, its all up to FIL. i really cannot let this stress me too much.
  6. Where is the Fashion Police Kojo when needed? Thanks for the laugh
  7. I would just let them know via a call that you and your FI spoke and changed the venue to open up to more guests. You wouldlove for them to come, however, you would understand given the financial constraints if they can't make it, however you and hubby-to-be would be honored if they could make it. Don't worry about it--i am still inviting add-ons!
  8. Thanks Ladies for the advice! I really appreciate it, JUST US TWO, no we did not tell the FIL about the extra costs and that it was not in the budget, not that I think that will do a world of good. Ole heads (no disrespect), especially in the Jamaican culture would probably not take too kindly to being told this, kinda like suck itup and make sure they are there. SO, it will be a delicate conversation I am sure, in which I will be the demonizer, however, I have no problems letting them know this. As a matter of fact, I will be making notes letting them know in their RSVP, that those that were not originally invited are responsible for covering their day pass.
  9. As for an upbeat recessional song, I plan to have the song played" Everlasting Love - By Natalie Cole"--It is a very "happy, happy joy joy kinda song and I have always loved it".
  10. To add what was already recommended - I would also suggest going to Trip Advisor and checking these out as well. The reviews are very candid, albeit biased of course.
  11. Fab dress! Can't wait to read the review and see more pics.
  12. Is it me or does the Reception Menu for the Steakhouse really suck? Am I expecting a bit too much??!!
  13. MY FI and I are planning a small DW. However my FIL decides that he will invite the whole country of MoBay and Negril to the wedding so we are looking at a sizable amount of $ to pay for these folks to come to the hotel. What should we do? Make them pay for their own day pass? This added cost is so NOT in the budget! i don't even know half of these people! Is it bad taste to ask them to pay for their own pass or ask the FIL to?
  14. asianideas has the lowest that i have come across. in egards to program fans, the lowest i have seen is on the following website: Helping to make memories unfortunately a lot of places require bulk orders of 100+ which i find to be very annoying.
  15. It is not the end of the world that you bought two dresses! BUT without question, dress #1 is the stunner!
  16. Our TA handled all this for us with the all inclusive package. That is with the exception of the departure taxes that you will be subject to leaving the island.
  17. Our budget was supposed to be $10k, but the costs for decorations, photography and my dress is driving the price up to approximately $13k. This total is not inclusive of airfare (which is for 2k for me, FI and our son). You are on the right track. Had this wedding been at home, we would be paying at least double because the guest list would not be so small..you know how that goes!
  18. Absolutely gorgeous you are Karma. You are in your best prego months so enjoy. Congrats!!
  19. Fannie, Would you mind sharing what you ordered and the price for your package?
  20. OMG OMG! That is the toughest, most unfortunate turn of events Indigo. I am sooo sorry to hear of your loss! I could not even imagine. Right now, the last thing you need to feel is stress and pressure. You have not have the chance to even try and internalize the situation to know what it is you want to do next and you can't put a time stamp on a situation like this. Please take time to breathe, TALK it out if you are up to it and if spiritual pray for guidance. You will know what to do based on what your heart tells you and also what the spirit of your sister wil guide you to do. I know she would want the best for you. I will keep you in my prayers. I am so touched!
