  1. What a nice alternative to OOT bags! I never would have thought of doing boxes.
  2. Wow, have things changed! When I was young(er) this was called the Rhythm method, and if you were OK with unplanned pregnancies, then Rhythm was the way to go. I guess NFP is the scientific version of Rhythm and I'm honestly flabbergasted that it works as well as everyone claims it does. I'm well past the baby stage now, but it's nice to know there is a natural option available for this (and future) generation(s) of women.
  3. Great job Toni! I did a similar one for Dreams & Punta Cana when I got married and I had a ton of fun sourcing all the info. I guess I'm just a big geek
  4. There's a forum for OOT bags, where I'm sure you'll find tons of suggestions from the posters. Here's the link: Registry, Gifts, and OOT bags - Best Destination Wedding Forum ~ The Ultimate Destination Wedding Resource
  5. Courtney's right. A gift with conditions is not a gift. Hang in there! If she's a good friend to you, you want to make sure she stays that way and arguing over money is the quickest route to ending that friendship.
  6. Wow, he's definitely a keeper! What a sweet and thoughtful proposal *sniff*
  7. Everything looks fantastic! Have a wonderful wedding and enjoy your stay at Dreams!
  8. There's two vendors right here on BDW that can take care of those for you! Sarah Sprouille and Allurements by Rebecca! If there are others, I apologize for overlooking you!
  9. LOL! I wonder if that's where I got my list from. It's been so long I can't remember! Thanks Twinkletoes! Here's a page from my survival guide where I incorporated the souvenir list. Just an example of how we help each other out! Most Popular Dominican Republic Souvenirs.doc
  10. Mods, I'm sure there's a thread on this topic already, but I couldn't find it Feel free to move/join this one if you know where it is! I thought it would be neat to share our "how we met" stories. Here's mine: I became good friends with my former manager (Rachel), and another woman (Ramona) that I reported directly to. The three of us hung out, both at work and socially outside of work. At the time I was dating someone, but Ramona was single and one day Rachel decided she would try setting her up with her husband's best friend, who was also single (Tim). I was in on it and we decided to keep Ramona in the dark for fear she would freak out about being "set up". We were extremely busy at work and the three of us had to work on a Saturday. It just so happened that Tim was going to be at Rachel's house that evening, so she suggested that after we finished up, we head to her place for pizza and beer. So we did, and we had an enjoyable evening. Ramona had no clue that the accidental meeting with Tim was no accident and when it was time to leave, she drove me home. After we left, Rachel asked Tim what he thought about Ramona, and he said "she seems very nice, but tell me more about the brunette ......" Well, I'm sure you've guessed by now that I was the brunette (Ramona was blonde at the time), and he asked me out the very next week. "Tim" of course is actually my DH "Tom". The other names have been changed (to protect the innocent, lol). Ok, who's next?
  11. My personal fave: "Make sure what you do today is important, because you are exchanging a day in your life for it."
  12. My in-laws are well-seasoned travellers. They stayed at the RD and were soooo impressed they went back, even though they like to try out new places each time. They still comment on how great the resort was, how wonderful the staff was, and how beautiful Panama is. I don't know if you've been there yet, but if you haven't -- good choice!!
  13. Strawberry Daiquiri, hands down! Especially if it's made with fresh strawberries. I usually add some to the blender along with the Bacardi SD mix. Mmmm.
  14. If anybody's interested in doing a no frills program, here is a picture of mine as well as the template: Ceremony Program BLANK.doc
  15. They're not absolutely necessary, but they are nice keepsake. I created a simple one in Word and printed them off on good paper at home, so they cost practically nothing. Mine was also quite basic - I identified who was in the wedding party, the parents, the list of events (intro, vows, etc. etc), and the back page was a memorial to my late father and DH's late brother. If you'd like, I can send you the template when I get home tonight.
  16. Sarah made my monogram too (see sidebar)! You can easily have your monogram turned into a stamp, and then you can stamp away on the box!
  17. TripAdvisor has misled me more than once. I believe that those who have only negative comments love to post them on that site, but those who had a positive experience don't often share it. I think it's pretty skewed, but that's just my humble opinion! Your best source of information are the brides who were actually married there. You might also find some info in the Wedding Reviews section. Give it a shot!
  18. Congratulations and welcome Melissa!
  19. Plenty of brides have done exactly that! It's not uncommon at all. Personally, I did have a private reception, but that was just my preference. Being that you're having a DW, you can do whatever you want - there are no rules!!
