  1. I love the hour glass concept! But reminds me too much of the soap opera Days of our Lives with the hour glass at the opening.
  2. I bet they say four days as a safety net. But defintely get in touch with your WC and make sure they understand when you are arriving and all. I have heard of them not going entirely by those guidelines which is why I am thinking it is just a Dreams thing.
  3. Your fear is completely understandable! But like previously mentioned the coordinators do this daily and I think sometimes they forget that we dont do this daily (ha). So to them it is very routine. I have heard of them not being in contact until it gets 1-2 monts from your wedding but I would still try to contact the coordinator now for peace of mind if nothing else. No offense to your TA but you dont need the added stress.
  4. You totally have to let us know how it went, gotta know if it's at all worth it! Hope you are happy with the results!
  5. Ahh yes the details, they will kill you every time. I dont think anyone would care or notice. They will probably think the postcard is fun and creative! My vote is the postcard, always save a little money when you can!
  6. Welcome to what I like to consider the greatest treasure any DW bride can find!! Congratulations and happy planning!!
  7. I am doing my trash the dress pics the next day too, dont want to be all wet and soggy looking for our reception and all. I wasnt going to get another dress even though mine is fairly traditional but now I am leaning towards getting another one (a great excuse for another dress, ha). I found one on JCrew's website. I know some other gals found some at White House Black Market and ebay. As far as signifigance I think it is whatever you want it to be. I know we are doing ours for some intimate photos. But ones with your girlfriends sound like a blast too! Its your time, anything goes!!
  8. Does anyone know how the shopping is in Cancun? We were thinking of buying each other wedding presents while we are there. Is there good jewelry shopping there like at some cruise ship ports? Thank you all!
  9. Is that particular date meaningful to you guys as a couple (besides the obvious V-day)? If not then if I were you I would pick another date that is available at your first choice location. To me, if the date isnt all that important (i.e. dating anniversary, parents wedding anniversarym etc) then the next most important thing is the location and there is a reason you had Casamagna as your #1 choice.
  10. Congratulations! Let the fun begin! You have found an awesome resource here!
  11. You just described Dreams Cancun! We wanted all of those things too. We wanted our nieces and nephews to join us...guess what kids are free with paying adults, sweet!! They have a dolphinerium on the property where you can swim with the dolphins. It's all inclusive. The wedding gazebo is breathtaking with the carribean sea splashing up behind you. Here is the link to the resort. I did the comparison thing too, I wrote out rankings on trip advisor and all of that. You deserve to have the best place for the day of your dreams, you should be picky!! Dreams Cancun Resorts & Spas: Unlimited Luxury Defined
  12. First of all you dress looks gorgeous from what you posted!! Oh la la!! Second of all definitely something with a little bling on it. Like these for example... rsvp Kellia (White Satin) - Sandal Bridal Shoes
  13. There is a great thread on here about taking your dress on the plane. One bride said she had an awesome experience with Alaska Air. Everyone recommended to call the airline just to check the policy. A good point was made though that the person you talk to is just someone at a desk not someone at the check in counter and maybe not even at the airport, ha! But I sent Northwest (our airline) an email and they responded within 24hrs. Not only did they say that they would make every attempt to accomodate my dress but they kept saying congratulations to us! It seems like most peoples experince is that the flight attendants love to have brides and grooms on their flights and will help out as much as possible.
  14. In order to cut down on expense a travel agent recommended to us to do the legal ceremony here. But it was more important to us to have the legal ceremony in front of friends and family and in the location of our dreams then the few extra hundred dollars. and yes it is a little bit more of a hassle (blood tests, having to arrive early, etc) but to us it is worth it. Unfortunately it is a matter of personal opinion. If the religous one is most important to you then it may be worth saving money and hassle to do the legal one here.
  15. Welcome to the forum! You will find so much great information. I am a DC bride too! If you need anything just let us know!! Congratulations!
  16. Glad you ordered them! They are great! Will get everyone in the mood and love the magnet idea, its a constant reminder to people about your special day.
  17. Oh my gosh how awesome is that website!! Here is the link... Dreams Cancun Resorts & Spas: Unlimited Luxury Defined
  18. Oh my gosh! I am so excited to have found this thread! I cant wait to find some great stuff and contribute to this thread! Thank you all so very much!
  19. This was northwest airlines reply to my emailed question about taking my dress on board... Carry-on luggage will be limited to one piece plus one of the following: a purse, briefcase, or laptop computer for all flights. A carry-on piece can have a total linear measurement of up to 45 inches. On all Northwest jet aircraft, a closet is available in the cabin of the aircraft to store some items. This closet is relatively small, it is not full length and a large wedding gown would be compressed in the closet. The space for this closet is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, kindly explain to the agent at your departure gate the need for you to store your wedding dress on board the aircraft. If space is available, we will be happy to accommodate your special request. Hope this helps a little!
  20. Well I have to count myself out this time (just found out my FI is having knee surgery Feb but hopefully next time! Enjoy ladies!
  21. Welcome to a wonderful treasure!! I am a DC bride too! Please let me know if we can help in anyway. If I cant I am sure someone else here can. Congratulations and have fun planning the wedding of your dreams!!
  22. Our ceremony is at 5pm, with cocktail hour at 6pm and dinner at 7pm. Loved the idea of being near the sunset time. The WC said all would be fine with pictures and all guess because the ceremony is so short.
  23. Where did everyone get their seperate dress for the TTD? I've seen ebay and White House Black Market...anywhere else? Thank you all!
