  1. PaulaV I love that term "brides minute"! It certainly looks like it will take an eternity!!
  2. We are getting married at Dreams Cancun and are expecting about 30 people. If you want to have a private reception then yes it is extra. Our reception which is included in the previously mentioned higher price package of $2650 is for 20 people and then we pay extra per person over 20 people. This includes a cocktail hour and nice reception dinner. Most of our guests are planning on staying at Dreams because they have seen the pictures and agree with us as to how awesome it looks. As far as planning outings, no way. Call us selfish but this is not only our wedding but our honeymoon too. To thank our guests for coming we decided to pay for a nice reception but we are making it clear we are not going to be social directors all trip.
  3. Do I need to think about a cake topper? or is the cake not big enough for one? or are there just flowers on the top? Anyone know what comes on reception tables?
  4. We are so excited and so thankful to have this board with all of these helpful and wonderful ladies!!
  5. We are getting married on a Saturday so I know they do that. I would guess they do weddings every day. But I bet not too many on Friday the 13th, ha!
  6. I am a Dreams bride but I have been to Moon Palace in the past. Moon Palace is gorgeous but it is a lot further away from not only the airport but the action. With Dreams it is right in the middle of the hotel zone and also a lot of the bars (like Senor Frogs, Pat O'Briens, Hard Rock, etc). We too were torn because we are at an all inclusive why would we pay extra for a reception but we decided it was the least we could do for our awesome friends and family who are making the trip down to see us. And the cost is nothing like you would expect here. Plus Dreams is close to other hotels. For example, my aunt has a lot of marriott rewards points so they are going to stay at the nearby marriott and then on the day of our wedding just pay the $50 day pass to come to Dreams.
  7. Any DC brides use the resort provided DJ? We are thinking about this option and want to know how he/she was and what kind of music was played. Thank you!
  8. I know our original travel agent had suggested we go to the court house and get married legally here and then just do a symbolic ceremony in Cancun to help cut costs if we wanted.
  9. SunBride, When is your wedding? I hope I get to hear your thoughts on the caribbean trio. I know seems silly but like you said we like the laid back sound of caribbean music too.
  10. For those married at DC...any thoughts/opinions on the Mexican or Caribbean trio? I know I know seems weird to even consier a Caribbean trio in Mexico but just keeping our options open. Thanks for any info!
  11. I have been told if you dont use something in a package then you dont get a credit for not using it (bummer, eh?)
  12. They are included in the Dreams Ultimate Wedding package according to the info I got. But the breakdown I have only says "coloured chair covers" $4.50usd + 10% tax each I dont know if white chair covers are less expensive, sorry.
  13. I just re-checked my contract that is dated Nov 22, 2007 and is for our Nov 8 2008 wedding. We have the ultimate wedding package (no clue if that matters) and it says the following: For additional people for cocktail hour: $19usd+15%service+10%tax For additional people for reception: $38usd+15%service+10%tax Hope that helps a bit

  15. Does anyone know the cost of a ceremony rehearsal at Dreams Cancun? The info I got from Daniela just says "Extra charge". Thank you much!!
