It is a bit of a pain, but it may be the best option right now. I wish I had time to go to the store to see what they have. I only checked online, and the size options were very limited. I would rather her just tell me a size range so I have an idea of what to order. I don't care if I have to send stuff back. I know she is embarrassed that her kid is heavy, but it's not like if she tells me the size it is going to make a difference. I feel bad for the kid because he is so sweet and lovable, he's just big!

Trisha0612's Planning Thread *PIC HEAVY*
beachbride08 replied to trisha0612's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Everything looks great, but I must say the OOT bags are my favorite but that could be because I have the same ones! Ha ha! Your dress and ring are beautiful! I love all the paper products and how coordinated everything is. Great job! -
BM planning on proposing during our wedding trip
beachbride08 replied to tvt's topic in Random Thoughts
I wouldn't let it bother you. I would think he would have enough sense not to propose during your wedding or something like that to make it obvious. I think that would be kind of a cool story to tell when you get back. -
Hi Ladies! I finally had some time to log back in and catch up on posts. I'm in the office today, and I forget that I don't have my password saved so I always get logged out! That is great that Jayson's dad will be able to make it to the wedding. I'm sure he is happy his dad will be there, and it will also take some stress of of you. Erica-You are on a roll with your wedding planning. I am such a slacker! Want to come to Chicago and finish my DIY projects? Ha ha! Celina-That is crazy about your TA, hopefully, he will has everything under control. I know I'm forgetting to comment on a couple of things. I don't have much of a wedding update for you all. I still haven't done what I've said I was going to try to do. Ha ha! I did, however, get the rest of my OOT bags. Stephanie sent me her extras - THANK YOU!!! BTW-your check is in the mail. I found out over the weekend that Mike's nephew, who is one of our ring bearers has nothing to wear for the wedding. I bought my brother's outfit because my dad and his wife are incompetent and I knew they would wait until the last minute. They were the last people to book to book their trips! They drive me nuts, but anyway. Mike's nephew is 3, but he is really heavy so they have a hard time finding clothes and shoes that fit him. FSIL's mother lives in Paris and is a costume designer for some theatre over there. She offered to make him an outfit for the wedding. I told FSIL that I was getting my bro khaki pants, and a white short-sleeve button down shirt and he was wearing brown flip flops. Her mom was supposed to be coming for a visit last week and was going to bring the outfit. Well, my FMIL told me that FSIL got into an argument with her because she didn't make the outfit. So now he has nothing to wear! Now, I offered to get his outfit when I was shopping fo rmy brother, but FSIL couldn't give me an answer of what size he wore because she said he has to try everything on, or get it altered. They mainly just put him in t-shirts and elastic shorts or pants in regular boys sizes. Well for his RG gift I bought him a pair of basketball shorts and a polo in boys small and it was too small. You think she would just exchange it for the correct size (I got it at Target), but no she gives it to FMIL to give to me to go exchange it, but doesn't tell me what size. I was so irritated! Who gives back a gift to the giver to return? Anyway, I took it back and just got a merchandise credit card to give to her. I mean I'm not going to pick out the wrong size again just to have her give it back to me to return. So then my FMIL goes and buys material at Wal-Mart to make the kid an outfit. Well, the thing is she doesn't know how to make clothes. She can sew and fix a hem or sew on a button, but making an outfit from scratch is a whole other story. I looked online and I did find a similar shirt to one I got my brother at gap Kids, but I don't know what size will fit him and they only had two sizes to choose from. I found some regular khaki pants, but they are not elastic so I have no idea what size, and whatever I get will definitely have to be shoretened. I don't care if the outfits don't match, but I don't want him walking down the aisle in basketball shorts and a t-shirt either. I don't understand why they couldn't just let me get an outfit, and if he didn't need it we could have returned it. Now we are going to scramble to find something when all the fall/winter clothes are out. What do I do?

We are having our wedding at the Lindo, and most of our guests booked through the travel agent we used. Our TA offered a group rate, but we had to have a minimum of 10 people traveling on the same dates, and we had to pay a deposit of $100 per person up front to contract the group rate. The discount would have been around $100 or a little more per person, or one of the guests could have gone for free. We couldn't get enough people to agree on the travel dates or early enough to make us comfortable paying the deposit so we didn't end up doing it. If you just need a discount on the rooms, maybe contacting the resort directly would give you a room discount. FYI-The trip packages that were offered through FunJet were cheaper than Apple, and the prices online were a lot more expensive than what our TA offered.

We just got our cake topper!!!

It is very cute, and $30 was a great price! -

Keep you fingers crossed for her and good news please. Oh yeah, how could I forget. Not only does my Aunt have leukemia, but her youngest daughter just found out she has a blood clot in her leg from her groin down passed her knee. The Dr said that it is the biggest blood clot that he had ever seen!!! The first hospital she went to told her it wasn't a bloot clot and sent her home after an ultra sound. The second hospital found it. Like WTF!!! OMG, I hope your aunt and cousin are OK! Quote: Originally Posted by amyrak oK..here goes.. Your dress is beautiful! Demetrios (in Schaumburg) has a destination line, but the sample sizes in the store were all like size 4 so I didn't have much luck there. I bought my dress from House of Brides, and I got my dress 2 weeks after I ordered it. I bought mine the weekend after Thanksgiving and got a great deal so I would recommend buying it then if you can wait or if you find something there.

Unique Idea of BM Gifts
beachbride08 replied to soon2bePowers's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I also bought my girl's dresses. I gave them, what I called my BM swag bags - personalized beach bags with their names and that was filled with a Bath & Body Works maincure/pedicure gift set, nail polish, travel blanket, shot glass necklace (this was more a gag gift for my girls), swarovski jewelry for the wedding, but it included beads of other colors than the wedding colors so they could wear it with anything, photo album, and flip flops. I gave them the bags at our shower, but I also plan on getting them a gift certificate to the spa at the resort and will give that to them with their welcome bags, or at the rehearsal dinner (in case they want to use it on the wedding day). I will also be giving them a photo book when we get back and once we get our pics as a thank you/Christmas gift if we get the pics in time since our wedding in in November. -

At least your travel agent called and told you. I found out on my own when I checked tripadvisor and read someone's review of the hotel. Even the #%$@& wedding coordinator didn't notify me about it. Nor has she really answered any questions I have about it. My travel agent isn't much of a help either. I too had a suite, the jacuzzi one, for the entire trip. Now I am stuck in the old tower. My FI is trying to get us a free wedding package, the more expensive one of course and/or a free upgraded suite( they have 2 level suites in the old tower which come with jacuzzi and private pool). By the way, doesn't it make more sense to remodel an old tower....not the new one!!! Anyways I just wanted to let you know Tara you are not alone. Hope things work out for you! Welcome!! That sucks about your resort. I feel so bad for you and Tara, not a fun thing to deal with especially when you are having your wedding there. You would think they would have notified you. I was kind of bummed we couldn't go somewhere else, but we would end up spending way more money and losing too much travelling so it just made more sense to stay. I will definitely take lots of pics at the Grand for ya. I have heard it is a phenomenal place so I'm sure it will be a nice change from the Lindo. Today I find out if I lost any weight or inches (wish me luck)...last wknd I had my first fitting, which was exciting but a bit frustrating as well since my dress didnt quite fit. She couldnt finish tying the corset at the bottom bc of all the junk in my trunk (LOL)...these hips DONT lie!! Well, here is a pic of me in my dress, unfortunately the lady already started to untie me bc she didnt hear me tell her I wanted to take a picture....I also included a pic of the MOH in the bridesmaid dresses. Enjoy. MOH (the shoes she's wearing are actually my wedding shoes; the bridesmaids will be wearing brown sandals) Me (dont mind my dumb look) Congrats on the weight loss, that is great!! You look beautiful in your dress, and those shoes match the sparkly areas on your dress perfectly! Quote: Originally Posted by tvt yeah packing is no fun! We packed all of our OOT stuff last weekend. I made my welcome letter for the OOT bags, the wedding day timeline, and my table numbers and favor tags (organza bags of M&Ms) Did you weigh your suitcases? All your DIY projects came out great, and I love the little stands you got. I am absolutely exhausted! We had a garage sale at my aunt's house this weekend. We didn't advertise so all the people that came were just drive bys. Luckily, they live ona corner, but it was slower than we had hoped. Mike and I still made $525 from some of the stuff we sold. He used to be in a band so he sold some of his old instruments (he plays drums and guitar) so he had some bigger ticket items that resulted in the money we made, but I sold some clothes and kitchen stuff since we got new stuff at our shower. We are going to hold another sale in October and advertise this time so hopefully we can rid of the rest of our crap and make some more money. Otherwise, we'll just donate what's left so we won't have to move it to AZ! I'm hoping to start working on those programs this week and get this stuff done. I go for another fitting on Saturday, and I need to pick up my head piece. I can't wait until I get to the point where I have nothing wedding related to do!

Any one else taking a strip-tease class?
beachbride08 replied to Amarillis's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
They have these in Chicago through Flirty Girl Fitness. Some of my co-workers did the strip tease and the pole dancing class and loved it. I am going to go with them the next time. I guess they offer it for bachelorette parties and have a bar set up so you can drink after the class I guess. Or maybe before to get some courage? -
Laser Eye Surgery - anyone's experiences?
beachbride08 replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I would love to have this done as well. I have had to wear glasses since 2nd grade! I'm just too chicken to go for the consultation. I know quite a few people that have had it done, and a few have complained about having the dry eyes one still has dry eyes 2 years after having the surgery. I already have dry eyes so that worries me. It would be nice to be able to wake up and be able to see without having to put glasses on or contacts. It is pretty sad that I have to put my glasses on just to see what time it is if I wake up in the middle of the night! -
I didn't care too much for the first episode, but then it grew on me.

I am going to get a manicure and pedicure the day before we leave. I haven't decided if I want to do a french manicure or a bright pink. French manicures tend to turn yellow in the sun on me, and they never last long. I am making an appointment with the spa at the resort to have my nails redone on the wedding day so if I do get a color I will just bring the polish with me so it will match. My feet usually hold up pretty well, but my manicures are iffy. I can always cancel the nail appointment if I don't need it, but I'd rather be prepared.
