  1. Hi everyone! Thanks for your help. We are definitely planning to use a TA...and just figuring out the best options for our guests. I have to say, although this is a bit stressful, it feels so good to have a date and a place! Now, on to the save-the-dates... Thanks again! Jillian
  2. Sorry for the redundancy of posting this is two places but we had a question that we're looking for help answering: We are getting married in Riviera Maya next June at an off-site location but are planning to have our guests stay at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. We're in the process of gathering information on the stay and were wondering if anyone can give us some helpful advice/details on securing a group rate. In all likelihood, we'll be requiring 30-35 rooms from the Iberostar and were curious what the best plan of attack for securing a group rate would be. Through a travel agent? Through the Iberostar directly? Please drop a reply line if you can help.

  4. Hi girls, Just wanted to say thanks for all of the info. This will be helpful to me and many of the other brides! Is anyone doing a welcome dinner at the IB? Thanks again, Jillian
  5. Hi girls, I haven't posted in a while because I am still taking all of this in! I had no idea it would be this overwhelming. Right now, we are planning to stay and have our guests stay at one of the Iberostar resorts...most likely the Lindo or Maya. We are considering having our wedding here too but also looking into off-site options and prices. I was under the impression that wedding ceremonies/dinner at the IB cost $20pp over 10 guests, but I just read on an IB message board (IBEROSTAR HOTELS & RESORTS MESSAGE BOARD | IBEROSTAR REVIEWS & PHOTOS - Index) that if you want to rent out one of the restaurants for a private dinner it is $1000 for the rental and $50 pp for dinner. I assume this is true but wanted to confirm. Also, does anyone know what the cost of a cocktail hour is and the cost of an open bar during the dinner at the IB resorts? I will be emaing the IB WCs but wanted to throw this out to the group as well. Thanks for your help!! Jillian
  6. Has anyone on this site used Carribean Cancun Weddings and their coordinator Sharon to help in the planning of their RM wedding? Here is the site we stumbled upon: Cancun Wedding, get married in Cancun, Riviera Maya (Mayan Riviera) and Playa del Carmen in Mexico with Caribbean Cancun Wedding Curious as to any thoughts folks might have on this.
  7. We have just started the process of gathering information for a wedding ceremony and reception off-site of the AI we will be staying at. Because of all the raves posted on here about Ajua, we contacted them for information and are at the moment a bit overwhelmed by the costs of their wedding coordination fees (already at close to $6,000 before we even start talking about a post-ceremony cocktail hour and, of course, the reception itself!!!) For those out there that have used Ajua and enjoyed the results, can we ask for a ballpark on what the total cost of your wedding day was and what all that included? This will really be helpful to us. The budgeting process of this is hardly easy for a couple of newbies trying to wrap their brains around all the costs that are involved in the ceremony and the reception and all the peripherals (flowers, DJs, transportation, etc,). Any help/advice anyone can offer would be great. And again, we love what we heard about Ajua but are starting to wonder whether in the big picture they're in our price range.
  8. Hi Oscar_Ernie, After my last post, I came across a long thread for the Royal. It may not answer all of your questions, but what I read so far is helpful.... It is titled: ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions Hope you can find it, if you haven't already!
  9. I am interested in information on the Royal too. Hoping to get more from the TA that I have been working with so far. If she gets back to me with more info, I will let you know. If anyone does have further details, do share! She did mention all of their clients come back with rave reviews about the Royal. Our guests will likely stay at the Gran (all ages). Is that a concern for you? We will only have a few younger guests. I wonder what the cost is at the Royal if everyone, including bride and groom, stays at the Gran? There is so much to consider!
  10. Hi! This information is helpful! My finace and I starting to research resorts in Rivieria Maya for out DW in May/June of 2009. The Iberostar is one we are interested in. It sounds like most of you have good things to say so far. Just wondering if there is anything we should look for, ask about specifically, etc. There is so much to consider and so much information available--it is a little overwhelming as I am sure you all know. I also read that BeachBride is getting married in November (almost here!), I would love see some pics and get your review when you are back. Hope all of the planning is going well! Thanks!
  11. Thanks everyone! I am looking forward to the BIG day! And yes, Dan and I are very lucky to have Ann as a good friend. Her and Paul's wedding was fabulous. We can't wait for ours!
  12. Hi! I just got engaged and am hoping to have a Destination Wedding. Good friends of ours planned one last year and it was a blast. Looking forward to sharing ideas...we're still not sure when or where, but hopefully May or June of 2009 in Mexico or possible Coasta Rica! Can't wait!
