  1. We were also waaaaay too tired to do anything. We managed to get all the bobby pins out of my hair after quite a bit of struggling, I took a shower to get the shalack out of my hair, and then we passed out. The morning after is perfectly acceptable for consumating - lol! Go simple... seriously
  2. Welcome back Betsy! Glad to hear your wedding was awesome, and I can't wait to hear all the details and see those pics!
  3. $500 for the cake is ridiculous! I wasn't married at the Riu, but my resort had a local baker make my cake (2 tier, buttercream for 25 people) and I think it was $100. Not in Ochy, but $500 is way too much!
  4. Yay!!! I can't believe your day is almost here Lizz! So exciting! Packing was really a rough spot for us... We had 3 huge bags and 2 garment bags (not even including my dress and his tux)! We were luckily flying down with some friends, so we made it through the airport ok. We also sent a bunch of bags back with our guests, so we didn't have to carry everything through the honeymoon. You'll get it worked out
  5. I found this site Sunrise and Sunset Times for Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico in Mexico which shows sunset at 6:25p for May 3rd
  6. Congrats!!! Can't wait to hear about it! Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon!!!
  7. Everything looks fantastic Tami! I can't believe your day is almost here! I'm so excited for you!
  8. A lot of us went through this with Hurricane Dean... I'm sure it depends on the resort (I was not a ROR bride), but my resort actually was closed for Sept/Oct rebuilding. A lot of the resorts foliage/flowers had been ruined, but it was still absolutely gorgeous when we arrived in January. I wouldn't worry about it now. Jamaicans live with hurricanes, and I'm sure the resort will be fantastic when you get there.
  9. We got my mom a starfish crystal broach and a nice pashmina. I didn't have a bridal party, but I got my girls who helped out glass starfish pendants, which they all wore and loved. I found a glassblower on Ebay who did them at a good price. Embroidered beachbags are an awesome idea... or a special care package with bath and body stuff. Depending on your price range, you could do a gift certificate for a massage...
  10. I can't help with the arrival days, but I did a search for Mexican holidays... May 1st - Labor Day (official) May 5th - Cinco de Mayo (official) May 10th - Mother's Day (unofficial holiday) Hope that helps!
  11. Have you tried it with the flower but with rocks in the bottom instead of the leaf? I think the leaf is a little overpowering.
  12. Congrats on picking a place! I wasn't married at Sunset, but we spent part of our honeymoon there... I have a lot of pics, so if there is something in particular you want to see, I may be able to help. I didn't see a wedding though, so can't help with how they do it. The staff there was really wonderful, and when you get down there, definitely ask for a flaming Bob Marley shot... so much fun!
  13. Wow! You ladies are doing fantastic! Keep up the good work and congrats!
  14. I used Kodak and paid for a premier account so that everyone could download high-resolution pics. I gave everyone the account name and password. It worked well for my group!

  16. Congrats Heidi and Reggie!!! Everything looked fantastic, and what a beautiful day! I love the pic when you first got to the alter... you look so happy and excited! I can't wait to see all of your pics and hear all about it!
  17. I can't wait to see pics! I think Robin has another wedding down there this week, so she may not put stuff on the blog until she gets back... I hate waiting!!!
  18. Sorry you won't be able to join us Shelley! Hopefully next time Really hope you can work something out Christine! It would fantastic to meet you! This is going to be quite the BDW get-together!
  19. Put Sam and I on the maybe list. Since we just bought our house, I feel like we are hemorrhaging money, and I'm not sure this splurge is in the budget. We may make it though... not out of the game yet

  21. How long have you been doing the fluidity bar? I was thinking about trying it, but would love some feedback
  22. I like it without the palm tree in the main section... too busy and distracting with it in both sections. Just my 2 cents though...
  23. to the forum! Picking a location was definitely the hardest part for us. How many people do you think you'll have coming? What things are important to you besides kids and a smaller resort? Do you want a perfect beach? What price range are you looking for? We really wanted a small resort that we could essentially fill with just our guests, and we were looking for a bed and breakfast feel. We also wanted someplace that had a direct flight from Philadelphia and NY, since that was where most of our guests were. After TONS of research, we finally settled on Coral Cove, and it was exactly what we were looking for! Don't get overwhelmed You will find the right place and this forum has an insane amount of info and ladies who are going/have gone pretty much everywhere! Let us know how we can help!
