  1. Instead of using lightbulbs, we used the battery operated LED lights. They also are on individual strings, which made it easier to figure out how to hang them. I bought mine from Paper Lanterns, Party Supplies and Chinese Paper Lanterns - PaperLanternStore.com.

We had decided on the 20th, but with Passover, it wasn't going to work for a bunch of us. That's why we decided to rethink the date... if the 20th is still the winner for the majority of us, then we'll get together then
  3. Sam and I closed on our house today!! Its been a long day, but we are really happy We spent the last few hours ripping pee-stained carpet out, but we're really excited about finally starting our lives together in a new home!!! Front View Formal Living Room Kitchen Family Room
  4. Congrats Heidi!!! Looks like a great house!!!
  5. Ok... new thread http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...369#post302580
  6. Okay ladies, since we seem to be having a date problem, I thought I'd throw a new poll up and see what we can do! I made it so you can pick multiple dates, so we can see which day is the best.
  7. I think we're going to need a new poll...

I think that if done correctly, its ok for parents/wedding party to suggest cash. Its definitely tacky if the couple asks for it, but coming from someone else, I don't think it has the same feel. And 'donations' for a downpayment is a nice way of putting it...
  9. The only Saturday I'm free is the 12th... I'm working the 19th and 26th, and the 26th is still Passover...

FHA has a great program that gives you a great rate without the crazy-credit score requirement. They will actually do a loan with a credit score less than 600 if you can prove your income and explain any mars on your credit. Back to topic... I would leave your cards open as others have said.
  11. I was going to suggest the 12th, but I think that may be too close to Jen's and Heidi's weddings... Humph.
  12. We brought down 20 lanterns and the individual LED lights with batteries. It was about $100 for the whole lot (on sale)! We bought them from Paper Lanterns, Party Supplies and Chinese Paper Lanterns - PaperLanternStore.com and they were great Not the best picture, but here they are...
  13. I think the honeymoon registry is the best way to essentially ask for cash. We used it, and since we booked our honeymoon through The Big Day, we did not have a service fee (and got a great deal). We also had a BBB registry, but never posted it anywhere. My coworkers still found it and bought us $500 in knives -- which was awesome, btw! We received a few gifts off the honeymoon registry, but mostly our guests gave us cash at the wedding. My only suggestion would be if you register for your honeymoon, make sure you ask for things you will actually do.
  14. The Rockhouse is beautiful! If you guys get a chance, take a cab to Sweet Spice for dinner... they have AMAZING Jamaican food, and its pretty inexpensive. And just up the road is The Sands - which is a bar open to the public and run by The Caves. I forget which nights it is, but once or twice a week they do Jerk, and its fantastic!
  15. Great thread! I'm not going off yet, but we're getting there. My mom had a hard time conceiving after the pill, so I hope its not genetic - lol. After stopping, it should be about a month before you get your next period. That being said, your hormones will be off, so it may be sooner or later until your body regulates again.
  16. I'm so sorry! That really sucks! Just before we got married we were supposed to close on a house that we had started to feel was meant to be our home. Less than a week before closing, the seller's backed out! Honestly, it was the best thing that could've happened - though there was no way I would've believed it at the time. After a lot of frustrating and demoralizing 'shopping' trips, we found our dream home, and we're closing on Monday! The house is so much better than the first one was, and because we had a few more months to save, we're in a much better financial position. Try to stay positive. The right house is out there, and when you find it, it'll all be smooth sailing. Until that point, have a glass of wine and try to forget about it.
  17. to the forum! Where in Negril are you going? I was married in Little Bay (about 10 miles SE of Negril) and honeymooned at Sunset at the Palms and The Caves. Negril is beautiful! You'll love it!

  19. to the forum!! Let us know how we can help
  20. Sam and I are in (well, I'm in and will drag Sam with me)! We'll probably end up staying for the weekend and making a mini-vacation of it. Once we decide on a date, we should see how many people are planning on staying at a hotel. We should try to get a group rate if enough people are coming
  21. I have super sensitive skin, so I don't use a lotion. I tried a few, but they all made me breakout in hives (ack!). Before and after tanning, I just slather myself in eucerin. It doesn't seem to cause a problem in the tanning bed, and my skin doesn't get dry! Also way cheaper than the $50 tanning lotions.
