Then I got upset because there was problems with seating and I just wanted everything be perfect. I started crying. I tried not to but I was frazzled. It was so cute because all the Moms (my mom, my mother in law, my stepmother in law, and my grandmother in law) just started hugging me and reassuring me that everything was lovely. Then I had a margarita and all was right with the world again. All in all we had a great time. The food was incredible. I actually got to eat my wedding cake. My Father in Law gave us such a sweet toast. I think everyone enjoyed the low key nature of our shin dig. Everyone loved the favors. I am so glad We asked everyone to write us a message or wedding advice for our scrap book. The messages and advice were so touching and sweet. My friend Erica took over picture duties (Thank God) so when she sends them to me, I'll post them. Awe, you are so cute! I'm so glad to hear that everything worked out and all the "Moms" came to your aid in full force! haha Of course, being a BDW member, I can't wait to see the PICS! YEAH!!!

I agree, your new siggy is great!
  4. Congrats Jen, that's awesome!!! I'm glad you guys decided to go with Cabo. Your wedding is going to be awesome!
  5. FYI I just looked up rates on Expedia from Cleveland to Playa del Carmen at The Royal for 3 nights and it says $912/person. Not bad! I was thinking it'd be a few hundred higher... Keep in mind tho that this is for Nov. of '07 so the rates will go up for next year but that gives you some sort of ballpark figure to work with...
  6. I just wanted to say that I totally feel your pain. Picking a location was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard and stressful for me! I felt like I was ready to pull my hair out at any minute! We still are not completely set on a spot, but we've narrowed it down quite a bit and have our favorites picked out. We are going to do a site visit because I want to see the place first. Btw, this will be our second site visit. The first time we went to the Riviera Maya to check out the Iberostar resorts and honestly we did not like them for our wedding. This time we are going to the opposite coast - Puerto Vallarta. We're looking at having the wedding at the Mayan Palace and staying next door at the Westin. I know the process is very trying but in the end when you've found "your place" it is totally worth it!!!! I promise! So hang in there and know that we've all been in your shoes (or high heels, lol). And everyone here is very willing to help. My favorite resort in the Riviera Maya area that we've been to was The Royal in Playa del Carmen. That was the hotel that originally started the idea of wanting to get married in Mexico. That place feels like home to me. I've been there twice. It recently changed to Adults Only so that may be a place for you to check out. It is an all suite hotel, with a large jacuzzi in every room. The rooms are very spacious and nice. (I'm super picky about rooms!) The grounds are BEAUTIFUL. Very classy. Another great thing is that when you walk out the main hotel entrance you are in downtown Playa, which would be a big plus for your guests! Oh man, I'm missing this place - I wanna go back so bad! ... lol
  7. AWWWWWW, Tammy those are GREAT!!!!!!! I'm so glad you have them now! They gave me goosebumps.
  8. Wow, I never thought this day would come! LOL jk Gotta go see the slideshow now.....
  9. Wow Kelly, those are terrific - thanks for sharing! I'm so glad you had such a memorable day. Have an AMAZING wedding! (I know you will!) And have a safe and wonderful trip ~ can't wait for you to get back and see those pics too! Lastly, thanks for being so great! You've helped a lot of us on here. You deserve this. ~ Jaime

The lighthouse is a must-do in the Marina for drinks and ambience. I don't know if you are into sushi, but there is a restaurant called Tsunamis which the favourite local hang out and does amazing food! If you like live music our favourite is River cafe. at the weekends they ahve an amazing jazz/blues singer there... she is fabulous. And if you guys want to do something romantic with an amazing view (its pricey but worth it), Vista Grill is great. There are a ton of other places, but those are our favourites. A good suggestion for a rehearsal dinner is Barcelona. Its a tapas restaurant with a killer view.... You can tell we like to eat out huh?!!! Thanks for the recommendations!
  13. Hahaha OMG that's hilarious! I hope it doesn't give Martin any ideas tho! Oh and Shelly, those smilies are cracking me up!
  14. Hi everyone, As many of you know Martin and I are planning a site visit down to PV later this month (assuming this Mono gets better!). We're trying to come up with a list of questions to ask Marco involving our contract with them. It's hard to know what all we should be negotiating, so if you can think of anything, please throw out your ideas!!! FYI, we're also planning on visiting other places while we're down there including Las Caletas, Dreams and various restaurants. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. We'll be staying at the Westin for 5 days, 4 nights. I'm really hoping that I'll be feeling better so that we can get the most out of this trip and nail down our location!!!!!!! Also, our plans for now (pre-trip) are: Lodging at the Westin Regina, Ceremony/Reception at Mayan Palace next door, and Welcome Dinner either at the Royal Club in the Westin or a local restaurant. Thanks in advance! ~Jaime & Martin
  15. I would also recommend Playa Fiesta if they have space available... Good luck!

FI wanted a more urban feel, so he suggested some places in downtown LA (Walt Disney Concert Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Central Library, MOCA). I'm not totally sold on the idea. I'd like to do it at a park somewhere (we live near Griffith Park), but FI thinks it'll be too "boring." He said, "It'll be nice to have buildings in our pictures... or maybe a cliff." Huh? I have no idea what to do at this point, but we'll have to come to a decision quick. I like your FI's ideas - I think you could get some cool city shots! Plus, (since us brides get to plan almost everything ) this could be something that you could do for him. Just an idea.

Hi, I'm that last bride that went there, lol. I met with Luz in person and did not feel confident with her. She seemed sort of timid and meek and like she didn't have many answers other than what was printed on her "schpiel" (sp?) sheet. I wrote a review of it under Riviera Maya Site Accommodations.
  19. The funny thing is we're both sitting on the same couch typing back and forth on our respective laptops.
  20. Yay, my baby's here! Welcome to the insanity that is BDW *evil laugh*
  21. Can someone give me Marco's email? My main email isn't up right now, and I think it may be down through the weekend...
