  4. Hi, I recently did a site visit to Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal and Maya/Lindo. You can find my review here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...o-reviews.html
  5. Those are GREAT! Natalie you are beautiful! I love the shots at the end in the trees. AWWWWWWWWW!
  6. Check it out! Here's the cake "pre-bake". They're in the oven right now... Wow, I just realized this is not only my first layer cake but also my 1st cake made from scratch

Hehe, yes - that would've been great! I'm sure we'll have some left overs - he's leaving town tomorrow and we're not huge fans of carrot cake

As long as the batter turns out right (meaning you don't forget anything important like baking soda or something) you're pretty much just stacking them on top of each other after that. Two tips for that part: 1) make sure to let them cool all the way. Stick them in the fridge or freezer if you need to hurry things along. They'll be more likely to crumble if they're still warm. making them harder to stack and WAY harder to frost! (frosting will get "melty") 2) Assuming it's two layers, set the bottom layer on the serving plate (after cooling) and use a knife to level off the top of it. You know how most cakes are a little rounded on the top/middle after baking? If you trim off that "bump" then it makes it easier to get your top layer to stack (and stay put!) properly. I only do this to the bottom layer(s) and leave the top loyer rounded 'cause I think it's pretty that way. Esp on a carrot cake 'cause those usually have nuts and stuff on top. And THEN you can taste test from the little bit you trimmed off - yum!! It doesn't have to be perfectly even but fairly even will help you out in the long run. Hope that made sense!! hard to explain in writing! Good advice - that definitely makes sense! 10. Although I've never been to Tulum I'd go with that over Cancun just because I like that it's further out of the "touristy" zone. Have you been to Cancun before? It is very Americanized. I took my FI there for the first time last year and he was greatly disappointed. Not only was Cancun devastated from the Hurricane but most of the restaurants and shops look like something you could find in America. We ended up paying to upgrade to a sister resort in Playa del Carmen. Personally when I think of a DW I think more tropical and a little more out of the way. Although I'm sure Dreams Cancun is beautiful and I know a lot of girls on here are getting married there I would personally tend to lean towards Dreams Tulum.

I've never made a cake with more than one layer... But I think I'll try it anyways! I really think it'll mean a lot more to him - he comes from a home where his Mom made everything from scratch and he's been away from there for awhile now. He'll understand if it turns out "off".... right...? haha
  12. Thanks Tammy! I think I will start out with the basic one since I don't bake much. Woohoo, James is gonna love it (I hope)!
  13. Do any of you know how to make a carrot cake? Is it hard?? It's our roommates bday and no one's ever made a cake for him. I sent his best friend on a mission to find out what kind of cake he likes, thinking it'd be something easy like chocolate or vanilla but he came back with carrot cake! Martin thinks we should just buy one but the whole point was to bake him a homemade cake.
  14. Great review Courtney! Cute pics ~ you guys look so cute together. I bet it's nice to have seen it and feel some relief!!! I also like the "Game Over" shirt. May have to get that one for Martin as well...
  15. We wanna get married in PV and honeymoon in Jamaica too! Yeah mon!

They are natural products tho so I'm down for trying things like that. You may want to try fish oil capsules (make sure they are high quality and get ones that are flavored like with lemon). Not only is it great for your body (brain, liver, etc.) but it helps aid in weight loss. Try doing a Google search for Fish Oil + Weight Loss I've been taking fish oil for awhile now and combined with some exercise and moderate reduction in food & alcohol intake I've lost 10+ pounds. I really think the fish oil has aided me in this.
  22. We are also thinking of going to Jamaica on our honeymoon (after our wedding in PV). This is if we can take the additional time off work. I haven't looked into resorts or even areas much yet. We will definitely go at some point tho ~ I've been dying to go there for quite sometime!
