  1. Your guests are going to be so impressed! How fun to get a message in a bottle! Great job!
  2. Wow! I think that has to be one of the toughest poll questions in the history of BDW. All three dresses are beautiful and look fabulous on you. I love the train on #1. It looks as though the fabric might be little heavy (and hot) though. TammyB is right...you definitely look like a model in #2. It's simple and stunning. I love the neckline and lace of #3... it also looks a little lighter and airier (is that a word?!?!). Hmmm...I'm torn between #2 and #3. I guess I'd pick #3 based soley on my personal style (I like lace details...just think it looks very soft and romantic). Guess I'm not much of a help. Sorry.
  3. Best Wishes! Have the time of your life. I'm so excited for you!!! Enjoy every moment... can't wait to hear (and see) all about it!
  4. BEST WISHES Congrats!!! No doubt your wedding day will be a dream come true. I can't wait to hear how all of you DIY projects went over!
  5. What a wonderful story! How thoughtful and sweet! Congrats...you definitely have a keeper! Thanks for sharing!
  6. Beautiful pics! Everything looked gorgeous...especially you and your DH!
  7. Congrats Jamy! Your pics turned out great. You look beautiful. And you can tell everyone was having a great time! Thanks for sharing!
  8. Stephanie- The location looks gorgeous...so I wouldn't spend a lot of money on decorations. I think the ideas that you mentioned are plenty to dress it up just a bit. I really like the natural setting, so I wouldn't want to take away from that with over the top decorations... IMO.
  9. Most of our friends are pretty travel saavy and comfortable with booking online. We kept a close eye on the flights and prices (and still do). Using an internet-based "agency" is such a game...prices can change drastically in a matter of minutes. It's up and down every day...so when you see something good you have to jump on it. Different flights and more seats open up all the time...so you really have to stay on it, but I think if you're diligent, it pays off. Not everyone is comfortable booking this way... so it's not for everyone, but prices are pretty impossible to beat if you know how to play the game Living so close to a major airport (Chicago) that has several daily flights to Cancun also helps.
  10. Thanks so much for sharing your story! They are so fun to read. Congrats again!
  11. Jaime- I'm a week before Jilly (Oct. 12). All of my guests that have booked so far have used expedia, travelocity, orbitz, etc. With airfare from Chicago or Milwaukee inlcuded, they are paying about $650-$720 per person for 4 days, 3 nights (Thursday-Sunday). Other guests are staying longer, so more $, but you get the idea.
  12. Leigh- Absolutely amazing...you do such a phenomenal job of capturing every emotion. Your photos brought me from tears to laughter and truely made me feel like I was there experiencing such a beautiful day first hand. Ann and Paul- Your wedding was gorgeous! And more importantly the two of you look like the happiest people on Earth. The love you share for each other oozes from every picture. I am so happy for you guys. And let me say... you two have the most amazing blue eyes I have ever seen!!!

It would set a fun mood for the wedding. My FI wants to come out to something fun too...maybe "Bad Boys" (he's a cop).
  14. I love reading engagement stories!!! Thanks for posting! Rome is very romantic...and the Spanish Steps are beautiful. What a perfect setting for a perfect proposal!

    Hello!

I'm sure you'll be able to find out just about anything you need to know here! These ladies (and a few guys) are fabulous!
  17. Jessalyn, All I can say is WOW! You are definitely in the running for DIY Queen! Everything turned out beautiful. I noticed your shoes are the same as Sarah's (Aqharider). I love them! I've been searching for those shoes ever since I saw them in one of her posts. Where did you get them?
  18. Congratulations and best wishes for your wedding day and every day there after. I am eagerly awaiting your pics and review. I have been so inspired by all of your DIY projects...I think I'm going to spend 1/2 my summer trying to replicate all your hard work. We will be thinking of you!
  19. I think it's perfect! Is there really such thing as too blingy ?!?! Lol... actually, yes there is, but no I do NOT think you are overstepping that line between gorgeous and gaudy. I say go for it! We are actually going to get my WBs tomorrow. I just broke the news a few weeks ago that I want two My one justification is that we don't have to buy him a ring because he'll be wearing his father's (which was also his grandfather's)
  20. Jaime- I know I'm chiming in kinda late here, but thought I could maybe help out. I am a Dreams Cancun bride, and have actually been there. We went last October on vacation, and are getting married there this October. The gazebo location is gorgeous. It sort of juts out toward the ocean with a cliffy area on three sides. I thought the rooms were great. We stayed in a standard deluxe room in the pyramid building and were really impressed. Very clean, relaxing and tranquil environment, comfortable canopy bed, big marble bathroom, nice private deck, slippers and a robe, table and chairs for room service dining.... If your guests are really into their rooms, the Tower building as some plush suites (jacuzzis, seperate bedrooms, full dining rooms, etc. ) We were actually looking to go to Playa del Carmen, but "settled" on Cancun. I too remembered Cancun as a spring break haven, and definitely was looking for more of a romantic getaway. Anyway, Dreams is situated at the point known as "Punta Cancun". It is not on the downtown strip or in the hotel zone. We were there in October, and the area was very relaxing and quiet unless you ventured out more towards the club area. The hotel "next door" is the very posh Fiesta American Coral Reef (Coral something or other)...anyway it is very swanky and not an AI..not exactly a haven for partiers. The hotel on the other side was still being rebuilt from Hurricane Wilma, but also 5 star, and you actually can't even really see it as I recall. I thought the location was fab. The only hotel right on the point so it is surrounded on three sides by water. If you are not planning on marrying during spring break time (and even if you were), I definitely don't think Dreams attracts that sort of crowd. We are so glad we ended up chosing Cancun as opposed to Playa del Carmen or RM because it is so easy to get to. Especially if guests are coming for just a long weekend...many major airports have direct flights to Cancun, and then it's just a short ride (maybe 10-15 minutes) to the resort. We left Chicago at 9am and were on the beach by 1pm. The spa is also very impresive...with awesome outdoor cabanas, and a private sun bathing area. Let's see...what else... great for kids and couples. They have a kids' club for your younger guests. They basically entertain them all day so the adults can relax. They even had movies on the beach and "camping" night while we were there...so kids were even busy while mom and dad had dinner. I thought the size of the resort was perfect (about 400 rooms). By no means a mega-resort that you need a map to find your way around...but big enought that you don't have to all be on top of each other (if you don't want). I can't really say what the weather is like in the summer. We had PERFECT weather while we were there in Oct. (sunny and about 85-90) and the ocean was like bath water. Well if you can't tell...I was a big fan. My hesitant parents went to check it out when we decided on a DW there, and they loved it as well. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help as much as I can!
  21. Wow! I'm so happy for you...the perfect ring, the perfect necklace, the perfect man. You deserve it! Can't wait to see some pics!
  22. Sol is amazing...but very pricey (for me anyway). I am booked with Citlalli from Claudia Rodriguez. Very reasonable and I was impressed by herwork. I'm anxious to see Yaulau's pics!
  23. Your slide show brought tears to my eyes. Everything was absolutely beautiful! Elizabeth did a fabulous job!
