Wanted: Big Mugs/Cups
SusanK replied to SusanK's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I'm actually looking for something more like a big sipper bottle (with top and possibly a straw). -
I am looking for big mugs/cups to add to our OOT bags. Maybe something that also serves to keep the drinks cool. We have some friends that are pretty big boozers and that could benefit from a bigger cup than what the resort provides! Thanks!

"Marriage Day" pictures!!!
SusanK replied to Can'tHardlyWait's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
Congrats!!! You two look so cute...I love that he is carrying through the "threshold" -
I am a Dream Cancun bride too (a week before Jilly)!!! We were there last October and saw a wedding...it was gorgeous. The gazebo area is even more beautiful in person than it is in pictures. And it is very close to the airport (maybe a 15 min. ride at the most). It obviously wasn't spring break time when we were there, but if I had to take a guess, I wouldn't think you'd find too many spring breakers at Dreams. Being a more expensive, all-inclusive, I wouldn't think it would be a place college kids would flock too I'm sure you'll see them everywhere at the airports, and if you ventured out at all, but I'd bet you'd be pretty safe at the resort. Dreams is not downtown or in the hotel "strip", it's at the "elbow"/"point" (which makes for an ideal location with water surrounding the resort on three sides). Plus, the resorts on either side of Dreams are very upscale, and I don't think there would be spring breakers there either. Now that I think about it, I think Dreams might actually have a policy saying that they don't accept spring breakers...hmmm.

Wow! You look gorgeous! I really like your centerpieces too, very fitting, simple, and beautiful. Did you bring down the glass vases yourself, or was that something Dreams provided? One more question...you were not charged for the OOT bags? I am getting married at Dreams Cancun and was quoted $4 per bag to distribute. That seems ridiculous to me, so I'm going to try to use my bargaining skills...we will have around 40-50 bags, but we are also bringing 90+ people to Dreams that normally wouldn't be there. I figure the least they can do is have the front desk pass out some bags for us!!

I bought my dress!
SusanK replied to PaulaV's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Wow you look gorgeous!!! I have gone back and forth about a veil, and now I think I'm back to NOT wanting to wear one at all. The gazebo area can be very windy at Dreams, and I think it will annoy me if it's in my face. But my dress is also a bit more casual and I don't think the veil really adds anything, if anything it takes away from my dress. On the other hand, I think a veil looks very nice with your dress. I see what you mean about the colors looking like they don't match the best. Could you order some fabric from your dress designer to match the fabric on your dress? -
Jenn- Yes, Claudia put my in contact with the DJ company. Then I was able to e-mail directly with them, which was much easier. They have been very responsive and usually get back to me within a day or two. I was also concerned about the DJ because my friends/family are big dancers too. I will be making a list of songs for them...they said that would be no problem. If they didn't have any of the songs we requested, they would get them for us. The DJ is also an MC, which was also important to us because we would like to do many of the "traditional" wedding things (first dance, garter toss, etc.) that and MC can be helpful with. I'm attaching the "packages" they offer which also has their e-mail address listed. You can also negotiate for more than the standard 4 hours... Hope this helps! DJ___Wedding_Package.pdf

Today is Nicole (NHPT) and Matt's Wedding Day in Cabo
SusanK replied to starchild's topic in CONGRATS & Shout outs!!
You and your hubby looked great! Thanks for sharing a few "teasers". I'm glad you had a friend that was able to step up and take charge. I have a friend who is not in the wedding, but more like a personal attendant (aka the "go-to girl"). I really don't want to have to make any decisions on the big day. I just want to enjoy every minute. So if anything comes up, she is going to step in. Thank God for her! -
Mike & Morgan's mountaintop proposal
SusanK replied to rodent's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
Thanks for sharing your story! Engagement stories are always so much fun to read. My FI actually did something similiar, but we were in the mountains in Aspen skiing with my family. We went up for a few runs by ourselves, and that's when he proposed. When we skiied back down to our condo the whole family was there to celebrate with us! -
my legal ceremony pics
SusanK replied to laura b's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
What a great way to celebrate the legal ceremony. Congrats. -
Small world. Yeah...I'm sure we've met before at their house! That's too funny. I did the invites myself, with the help of a friend. She was able to do the more difficult printing stuff, and was just overall a great help. She has also done several other invites for friends in many different styles. I'd be happy to give you more info..

So I just got TWO e-mails back from Claudia today. Thought I'd share, in case it helps anyone else out. 1. How many people can you accomodate in the Tower Lobby/ Terrace area for the reception? We are now expecting more guests than we originally thought (maybe 75). I thought you told me 100 when we spoke on the phone, but I wanted to confirm. On the terrace only 50 people and inside another 50 people but will not be enough space to dance So I'm not sure what we are going to do now. Our guest list has now reached at least 80, and I really want the reception in the terrace/lobby area. I think I'm going to ask her if tables can be moved after dinner. I really don't want to have to move inside to the ballroom. 2. Is there some kind of form you would like me to fill out with our choices for meal, cake, etc? Or do I just e-mail you as we make decisions? just send me your desicions 3. Will your front desk staff be able to pass out gift bags for our guests at check-in? No they are not allowed to do that, this must be arranged trough concierge desk with an additional charge (room delivery $ 4 usd per room) So this is a bummer! But I swear, someone posted that the Dreams staff passed out their bags without any additional charge. Maybe it was at Dreams Los Cabos, but still... I think I might "challenge" Claudia on this one. Maybe if I mention that other brides have said that there was no fee...or if I point out that we are bringing 80+ guests to their resort, that normally wouldn't be there.... we are making them BIG $$$$. 4. Which florist provides the wedding flowers? A local florist fressia On that note, I think I finally found my inspiration bouquet...as some of you know, I have been very indecisive about this... but I think I'm going to send Claudia a pic of Ann's (akh) bouquet of yellow lilies and pink and green orchids, to get a quote. Then have BM carry a few yellow lilies. And the other e-mail: Claudia- With just over 3 months until our wedding day, we are getting very excited! I'm also trying to get all the details in order while I'm off work for the summer. Here are a few questions. 1. At the wedding we saw last October and in several pictures, I have seen the cocktail hour and buffet area decorated beautifully with shells, starfish, etc. Is that something Dreams provides complimentary? for the buffet display yes is something we have but if you want any other additional décor you can bring it 2. How far in advance do I need to book spa services? at least 1 month in advance 3. We still haven't decided between the Caribbean music trio or the mariachi trio. Do you have a recommendation? When do we need to decide on that? the mariachi trio (they are very good) 4. Did the DJ company notify you that we will be using them? yes 5. Will the bar in the Tower lobby be open during our reception? yes 6. Lastly, can you pease tell me what decisions need to be made in advance, and what we can decide on when we get there (Oct. 9)? the more things you decide the better Thank you, Susan

Here are mine. They are a DIY, pocket-fold style invitation. I included three inserts: a response card, a STD for the AHR, and a Reservations/Accomodations card (the front side has information about the resort, and the backside information on how to book) I know the pics aren't the greatest, but maybe you can sorta get an idea.
