ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

okay everyone I have Ana as my WC and honestly she seems to be not willing to work with you on anything. She told me I had to have the flowers delivered to the security gate? Anyone else have this issue? If not who is your WC as I want them!

Also anyone have the photographer from the resort included in their package take the cocktail hour instead of the ceremony. Meaning your outside photographers did the ceremony and during the cocktail hour the resort photographer managed that? Again she told me flat out no.

It seems like everytime I try to switch the tiniest thing she says nope.

Wondering if I should try to switch to another girl..any body have another girl who is easier to deal with?

I would appreciate it!

I do know they do not sub things out on the packages.  Why do you even have to tell her that though?  You can hire an outside photographer and just tell the resort photographer to hang back or take a break when they get there.  I can't imagine they would fight you on that on the day of.

I have Ana as well, and lately it hasn't been as bad with 'no' as it has with the extra costs. want a custom cake with different flavors on each tier? that's another $100 ($300 total for the cake). want a certain bouquet that looks like one that's $170? nope she says it's $220.

honestly, I'm keeping the majority of my plans secret becuase I don't want to get locked into something before I'm working with the on-site coordinator. I know that certain decisions need to be made up-front so things can be ordered, but we haven't discussed details like my external photographer or my plans for hair and makeup (and flowers).

I think the on-site coordinators will be more flexible and accomodating whereas the off-site ones are tied more closely to the rule book. at least, that's what I'm hoping. ; )

My WC used to be Patricia Romero but now it's just switched to Ana. wacko.gif

Patricia told us that if a vendor drops off flowers at the hotel and someone from our side picks up at the same time, there would be no charge.

I going to send another email to Ana to make sure what's going on.

Also for you, remember that Ana is not at the resort working as a wedding coordinator on the day. It feels like, as someone else from this thread point out earlier, the ones who work with you over emails/phone calls read off the contract to you and tell you how it's supposed to be.

And if so when and how? Marvin is stating that if delivered to the lobby the resort will charge me the $300.00 frickin fee which is ridiculous! Please let me know how you did it with avoiding the fee as many of you on here have used him and stated that you avoided a fee.

Thanks!

I used Marvin for my centerpieces, bouquets, and boutanaires (sp?).  We met his delivery person in the lobby to avoid the fee.  The problem with doing it that way is that you'll have to have someone set-up the centerpieces for you, if you want the resort to do it then you get slapped with the fee.  The bellboys helped us load the centerpieces onto luggage carts and wheeled them to my aunts room, then when she was ready to put them out for me she called the bellboys again and they wheeled the carts onto the beach for her.  We got VERY lucky that these bellboys were willing to be so helpful!

I got really sick of dealing with my off-site coordinator so I didn't really tell her much, then when I got down there I told my onsite coordinator this is what we are doing.  The off site coordinators will tell you no and try to charge you for everything however the onsite ones are much, much more flexible with things.  It was easy for us to do it that way since we were not relying on the resort for much and used outside vendors for alot of things.

Hi Ladies,

I just ordered business cards from VistaPrint that I am going to hole punch and tie around the maracas for the reception.  I'm so excited..  I think they'll look great!  Thank you to all those brides who posted this idea.  I would never have thought of it without you!

I am okay with a guest putting everything out. I am fortunate enough that my mom's best friend is a former florist and wedding coordinator and if going to make alot of the stuff for us to save us big money. He will be in charge of the tables and flowers and has offered to do it all for us!

As of now I am just going to keep my mouth shut with Ana and not really go into any more details to avoid the"no's" and the costs. I think I will just wait to speak to the onsite at the wedding about the photographer. I am sure they will say not a big deal. Thanks so much for all your feed back! Makes going through all this alot easier!

Ok former brides...we are finalizing Menu's and decided that buffet style is easiest to accomodate various dietary restrictions of my honey's family....has any tried the Mexican or Yucatan and what did you like or not like about them?  Thanks!!!

Also, has anyone asked if it's possible to mix and match?  Both look really good, but having part of each would be heavenly!

Thansk!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
