  1. I had children at my wedding, and those families just stayed next door at Gran Porto. It honestly wasn't a big deal. Since we could go over there from the Royal, we did one beach day with them, and then we had a welcome dinner off property they came to, followed by the wedding day with everyone. They did a lot of excursions and things with the kids anyway, so I don't think they would have stayed everyday at the pool with us even if they were at the same resort.
  2. Hi, All! I'm getting nostalgic about my wedding, so I thought I would check back in I had a welcome dinner for 25 at La Cueva del Chango. It was pretty reasonable, and people still talk about the guacamole! We did a choice of two entrees for dinner, and we let people order cocktails. My MIL spent less than $1000 on the whole thing, and they were super easy to work with! We decided against a bar package because we met for a cocktail hour at the resort before leaving for dinner, and then we went right back to the hotel. People didn't end up drinking that much during the 2 hour dinner. Good luck to all of you! Your weddings will be amazing!
  3. I had my hair done in an updo one night (I wore it down for the wedding), and I had my makeup done for the wedding. My mother also had her hair done, and I also saw several brides worked on while I was in for my appointments. I really loved everything I had done and saw other brides have done! I really do recommend pictures, and do not be afraid to speak up if you want something changed!
  4. I had them use their makeup for my eye makeup, but I did a consultation at Sephora to select the best primer/foundation for my skin type and tone before I left. Eye shadows and such can be pretty universal, but I wouldn't just assume they will have the best base makeup for you.
  5. Thank you, everyone! Deniden, I loved my bouquet, too! I ran across it on Google images, and I had no idea what kind of flowers they were. I sent the picture to Marvin, and he was like, 'Oh, yeah, those are blah blah blahs. I can recreate that." I used the vials as part of our guest book table. We put questions inside of them for people to answer on the back of postcards for our guestbook. I was OBSESSED with those vials when I saw them on Martha Stewart, but I couldn't think of a way to use them for the place cards while still indicating everyone's meal choice. We actually had regular place cards with two different punches to show the two meal options. See pic!
  6. I totally got weepy when we were actually putting our music together before we left imagining it, but I am a big cry baby anyway! I totally started crying while I was waiting to walk down the aisle
  7. While our guests were being seated, we used: "Quando, Quando, Quando"- Michael Buble and Nellie Furtado, "Lucky"- Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat, "Better Together"-Jack Johnson Family walked down to "Make You Feel My Love"-Adele, and I walked down to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"-Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. Our recessional was "Happy Together"-The Turtles. Quote: Originally Posted by LuckyGal4 I've got a question for brides who have already got married... Also what did everyone use for the bridesmaids to walk down the aisle as well as yourself? I have the cocktail hour and reception figured out as I hired a DJ but I just thought about the acutal ceremony. Thanks!!!
  8. Thank you! You look pretty, too! We pretty much bolted from the Royal, too... We left the day after for our honeymoon
  9. Hi, Ladies! I just posted my review with some pictures! Check it out! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/the-royal-in-playa-del-carmen-all-inclusive-spa-resort/reviews/6207
  10. Hi, Ladies! I'm still working on my review, but I thought I would share a slide show our photographer made from our wedding weekend... It includes our ceremony at the gazebo, and the cocktail hour and reception in one of the ballrooms. The end is our TTD in PDC at at Secrets Maroma for the start of our honeymoon! http://clients.colsongriffith.com/Weddings/Leslie-and-Mike/Slide-Show/23404394_gJps3c#!i=1890500477&k=hm4mq5W&lb=1&s=A
  11. Hola! Greetings from Mexico! I'm a Mrs.! I just wanted to pop on during our honeymoon to tell you all that our wedding was absolutely perfect! I sat down with Lilia for about a half hour the day after I arrived, and every little detail was executed to perfection... The weather was another issue, but I have learned that I cannot control that I will post a full review once I return from my honeymoon and my reception with my family in Chicago... Just rest assured that The Royal is an amazing place to get married, and your wedding WILL be perfect! I've attached a teaser pic from my photographer!
  12. Hi, Ladies! I'm on my way to my bachelorette party! Woo hoo! I can't believe the wedding is only a week away! I just wanted to take a moment to tell you all just how impressed I have been with my onsite coordinator, Lilia. She has been amazing! She has literally answered every question I had within 2 hours! Even when I asked her today about making a reservation for Chef's Plate the day of our arrival! I totally thought she would respond on Monday, but she had our reservation confirmed within 2 hours! It's been really great to work with her, and I'm super confidant about our wedding!
  13. I did a makeup consultation at Sephora, and I'm really glad I did! As for the fee, they had me purchase a $50 gift card before the consultation started, so even if I hadn't bought anything, I still would have a gift card (but let's be real... I bought way more than $50). I thought for sure I would end up with Make Up Forever, but it was terrible on my skin. It really is meant for oily skin, and I have some dry areas. I ended up with the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation (which is awesome!) and Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. Both are really hydrating, so they do not make me look dry and flaky, and they give me the coverage I need. I wore them for my engagement photo shoot, which lasted from 8AM-2PM, and they looked great all day!
  14. I wish that were the case for me! We're in our slow season, and only Mondays are a really busy day... This week has been dragging on so badly! I finished everything for the wedding last weekend to reduce my stress, but now I'm thinking I should have left some project to distract me! I'm just so dang excited! My bachelorette party is on Saturday, and then we leave on Tuesday! I am so ready for some pomegranate tequila!
  15. We actually found a restaurant off property to have the dinner at, La Cueva del Chango. I don't think it would be the same food as the buffet, but for our wedding, we had a choice between the beef or the red snapper. The welcome dinner was the same menu as the Classic Wedding menu. The other thing to keep in mind is that you can only do a max of 35 people for a welcome dinner, since it's the same rules as a semi-private reception. If I had to do it again, I would probably try to talk her into the private cocktail reception instead. She's spending a fortune on this dinner. I have no idea if they will provide candles, but I can't imagine they would just give you a ton of candles for free. We had bought a 100 pack of plain white tealights from Ikea a million years ago, and we've barely used any of them. I'm just going to bring those down with us.
  16. This last week of work is TORTURE!!! I cannot wait to be in Mexico already!
  17. Sweet God, this final week of work is pure TORTURE!!! Not to mention the fact that Mondays are our busiest day of the week, so I don't even have a lot of work to distract me for the rest of the days. I leave one week from today, and I can practically TASTE the pomegranate tequila! I finished everything wedding related last weekend to leave this next weekend for packing and reduce my overall stress, and I'm starting to think I should have left SOMETHING to work on this week! Oh wait... I should probably get started on my vows, huh? I can't believe it's almost here!
  18. It's getting so close I can hardly stand it! 24 days! Woo hoo! I've been assigned Lilia as my onsite... I can't wait to be in Mexico! I'm going this weekend to do my last minute dress fitting and a makeup consultation at Sephora to get new foundation, etc. I've also stocked up on strapless bathing suits and dresses because I will not even run the risk of a tan line for my wedding! I hope everything is going well for you all!
  19. Congratulations! I have been thinking about tipping as well... I would be interested to get other people's opinions. I will not have a DJ or anything, but we would probably like to tip our servers for the wedding. I'm kind of clueless as to who else I might tip. I am really excited about my soon to be hubby's wedding gift! I had a boudoir shoot that came out awesome, and I took one of the pictures and had it made into a 6 piece puzzle. It just arrived today, and it's amazing! I used a body shot that doesn't include my face, so it's going to be a total mystery for him when he's putting it together! I'm going to give him one piece a day leading up to the wedding. I think that even when he finishes the puzzle, he's not going to fully understand what it means until he gets the book... I can't wait for him to see!
  20. She's telling you that because nothing is confirmed until you actually send back your signed contract. Essentially, if another bride today sends back their contract first for the location you want, she would get it. It's not booked until you set it in stone. It's a CYA measure I have been working with Maritza, and she's awesome! All of the information is pretty comprehensive, so you probably won't hear much from her unless you have questions. She is very responsive!
  21. I have been using clip in extensions for years, and I just got a new set at Sally Beauty Supply for about $100. They are real human hair, and they are super easy to put in and take out. No one ever knows I'm wearing them, and I have found that wearing them helps my hair hold the curl better. My hair looks the same at 3AM as it did at 8PM when I did it! So, I will definitely be wearing them for my wedding, and I will probably sweep the front of it back with a crystal starfish comb.
  22. I got mine at Sally Beauty Supply... I've had a set for 5 years now, and I just love them! I got the ones at Sally for about $100.
  23. I made my final payment today! Woo hoo! 50 days to go! Our trip and our wedding package are officially paid for, so it looks like I'm really getting married
