  1. I ordered ivory for my bridesmaids and ordered myself a pink one since they're dresses are pink
  2. I figure I'll be able to atleast a month before the wedding, hopefully lol
  3. So wheres everyone with their wedding planning? just engraved our wedding bands & we have our wedding shower in 3 weeks!
  4. Subscribing so I can see it after I have enough posts
  5. I think this is the hardest part for everyonne. Make a list of what you want for your wedding.. for example, some resorts have it so that the wedding coordinator that you communicate with deals with you prior to your arrival, as soon as you get to your location they give you another wedding coordinator, that was something I didn't want.. just do your research, find out what is important to you & your fiance and figure it out that way. Theres definetly a lot of information on this site. Good luck!
  6. So I've gone to a couple of jcpennys and they tola me the stafford essential khaki linen look is out of sale online and theres only some pieces of the suit at stores.. well my mom went today, spoke with someone and then was told to go to the catalog department and order the suit, all 3 pieces (jacket, flat pants & vest) came out to a total of $105. No cost for shipping & the lady used a 15% off coupon you get on the bottom of receipts. I was about to give up.. if anyone else has an issue, just go to the catalog dept!
  7. I sent her a deposit, just so it would calm my nerves but its not necessary. This girl that is from where I'm from, is getting married in the DR a couple of days before us.. I told her about the jellyfish and she called them to see if she could get married there.. apparently Mayte already had the date reserved, she she touched base with the bride since she didn't receive a deposit, just to confirm.. needless to say the girl isn't getting married at the Jellyfish and Mayte follows up to confirm dates if ever needed.
  8. jcpenny actually has suits that are "linen look" but aren't linen, so they don't wrinkle.. its by stafford.. I think thats what we're going to buy.
  9. I'm getting married at the Jellyfish for our ceremony & reception.. but we're staying at the Majestic Elegance as well as our guests. Majestic does more than one wedding a day and between the 2 resorts I can imagine how much they do. I wouldn't let reviews change your mind though, everyone I've spoken to that have gone to the Majestic have said good things and people have different expectations. I just looked at my preinvoice for the Jellyfish and I have a 16% tax but it is just for the food and open bar, nothing to do with decorations.
  10. I have the adorae.. and I just bought really fancy jewelry.. I say its your wedding, wear what you want!
  11. I'm not sure if the DJ will work as a MC.. I sent Mayte an email the other day about the DJ and she mentioned if we wanted someone to announce the wedding party she can have someone do it, if not we can pay an additional $50 to hire someone to MC.
  12. They charge $400 to use their sound system, so thats why most people are just paying $200 more to get the DJ. It sucks, but there doesn't seem like another option unless you don't use it.. I figure it will set the mood having a DJ/won't have to worry about music/timing during the ceremony/reception.. and our guests are spending money to come to our wedding so might as well give them a party.
  13. Amazing! we're almost 5 months away from our wedding and this is exactly what I needed to see Your wedding was beautiful!
  14. Meg, Diego already put up videos of your wedding.. I just came across them, you had such a gorgeous wedding!
  15. Liz, I'm in the same boat as you.. I read the reviews of how they cake it on, so I'm thinking of just going to MAC for trials and purchasing products from them and then having one of my bridesmaids do it.. I've read about makeup artists going to the resort but I don't think I want to pay extra to have them actually come onto the resort and not meeting with them before hand/doing a trial.. so I think I'm going to do the safest way possible lol.
  16. Deciding on a resort was the most time consuming part of all the wedding planning I think, we decided on the Majestic Elegance as our resort and we are getting married at the Jellyfish Restaurant, Mayte is the wedding coordinator and she handles everything-- the ceremony & reception decorations, chair sashes, chair sashes, centerpieces, name cards, menus, etc.. we don't have to bring down anything, you pay a fee but she will handle everything for you. Shes awesome at getting back to you and will respond promptly, only when she is really busy with weddings (shes the only coordinator and they have back to back weddings it seems).
  17. My MOH printed my guests addresses on her computer on clear label paper, I had her do the same for our wedding invitations
  18. Not travelling in July! I wish I could visit beforehand. I was born and rasied in New Bedford, my fiance is from Stoughton. It was actually down to the Majestic Elegance/Jellyfish and The Royal for me too.. but I ultimately decided Majestic, it just looks so much more tropical than the Royal and has that vibe that I was going for.. but I was definetly going back and forth for a while, when you decide it'll feel like a weight has lifted off your shoulders lol
  19. I think I'm decided that I'm walking down the aisle to "marry me" by train.
  20. Hey ladies! I'm originally from MA (all my wedding planning/friends & family are there still) living in AL due to my fiance being in the military but definetly moving back home in the future. Our wedding is 11/12/11 and we're staying at Majestic Elegance and our ceremony & reception will be at the Jellyfish Restaurant.. after all my research.. Jellyfish surpassed everything.. intimate, we don't have to bring down any decorations/menus/name cards, etc.. Mayte the wedding coordinator does it.. and they only do one wedding a day. Labebita hope your visit to the Jellyfish goes well
  21. Great thread we're going to have a DJ but I'm definetly making a playlist for him and then he can mix songs in.
