  1. Hey Sunny, I'm planning on meeting Mayte the day we get into DR (Wednesday) so we can meet at the restaurant and go over details, I already gave her the date and she said she has a wedding that date so she will be there, but for us to call also. I'm not bringing down any decorations really, just some things I have purchased along the way (cake topper, ceremony/reception sign, guestbook). I've already started to make a document with pictures that I plan on sending Mayte, luckly I like how they have decorated some weddings in the past so it shouldn't be too hard. Mayte takes care of everything.. and even if you're not sure if she does, I'm sure if you ask her it can be taken care of. I'm getting married on a Saturday in November, not sure about 2012.. if you're not set on a specific date/month maybe you can ask her when a Saturday is available in a month.
  2. Sheri, I'm from Boston and will be moving back after my fiance gets out of the Army.. but all my wedding planning has been from back home and we're flying out with everyone from Logan.. we could plan something right after my wedding in November since we'll still be back home for a few days.
  3. Whippet, Sorry to hear about your experience, but with all the POSITIVE reviews brides give regarding The Jellyfish and Mayte, it seems as if you are basing your post on assumptions, with all the weddings The Jellyfish does, I highly doubt Mayte would be getting "more money" or "more commission". Also, the fact that you have only posted 2 posts on BDW, it seems as if you only joined to post negatively. I know someone who tried to book a wedding with the Jellyfish, Mayte called the bride that was already booked without a deposit to confirm her date, and informed the other bride that the date she was requesting was not available.
  4. I bought silver luggage tags from Michaels with a 40% coupon then got free business cards from vistaprint that I customized and I'm going to insert them in the luggage tags.
  5. Astef- I work from home so I go through spirts of wedding planning I think lol. All the big main things are done.. just little details now. Sherio- What airline are you looking into? W'e're all flying out of Boston and are going through jetblue (direct flights) & we're guests are paying between $550-650 each, we're going in November and its the week of Veterans day so apparently a lot of people are flying.
  6. I've hit a plateau in our planning.. I need to send out luggage tags w/brochures and write about 50+ thank you cards from our wedding shower and I have no motivation.. and our wedding is in about 2 1/2 months.. ugh lol.
  7. What stood out to me, is that you said you want a small wedding and you also said you would rather elope than have a wedding at home. You have to do what will both make you happy.. and from everything I read having a DW will make you happy, regardless of how small/who can't be there, at the end it will be you & your fiance and whoever could make it. As long as you give people a good enough notice, don't feel guilty about people not being able to afford it.. because essentially, it is yours & your fiance's day.
  8. Congrats!! if you're looking for info on prices I would contact a TA.. but info on resorts look into the forums!
  9. Definetly love the convertible dresses but my bridesmaids decided on something else.. I may just have to get one for me though.
  10. Zac Brown Band - Free. Theres a line that says "we'll end up hand in hand, somewhere down on the sand, just me & you" which I put on our wedding website and invitations
  11. So we went back home for our wedding shower (24 hr drive there/back) and I have been in a funk now.. I need to write atleast 50+ thank you cards & put together our luggage tags to send out with the brochure and I'm not in the mood! I go through stages of wedding planning and right now I'm stuck lol.
  12. We just had our wedding shower and there was no seating chart.. with 100 people it worked out good as some people never met other people so it was a time for them to interact and meet each other. Definetly don't stress out over it!
  13. I agree with everyone, definetly go to a salon and try on the dresses before hand so you know what you like.. and I'm hoping you are getting married in 2012 not Nov 12th of this year, I'm getting married the same date and when you order a dress sometimes theres a 2-3 month wait and our wedding is in less than 3 months..
  14. Will definetly let our guests know to lock them up.
  15. I'm planning on having the girls walking down the aisle with their parasols and I wil have a bouquet, then afterwards for pictures I will use my parasol too. I couldn't picture myself spending a lot of money on flowers when the ceremony isn't long and all the weddings I've been in the flowers wilt so quick. I like the idea of using the parasols to line to aisles, but I saw a picture today and it looked like it was windy and the were not like how they were set up in the beginning lol.
  16. We're bringing our photographer with us. Shes actually a family friend, and we paid for one of her packages including a minimal fee, it also included our engagement pictures.. the way I see it, she takes atleast 1000 pictures at a wedding here, imagine a week with us! Also, I felt like the photographers at the resorts limit you to a number of pictures as well as time. Also, something important is to see if you can get the rights to your pictures so you can print them on your own and do whatever you like with it. Good luck!
  17. this seems to be a problem of mine right now too! But I really like the second one.
  18. We met through our childhood best friends who actually got married in 2009 & we were in their wedding party, now they're our Matron of honor & Best man.
  19. Oops! definetly posted in the wrong thread. FI is 3 years older though
