  1. I agree with you. I'm not completely against it, but I know if we do it, it will be a last minute thing. We'd rather put our money towards something else that would be memorable on our wedding day.. cause I can see the OOT bags adding up for all the little things here and there.. when it could be the price of fire dancers/cigar roller/etc on our wedding day that I know our guests would enjoy.
  2. Hi Ladies - So I went dress shopping for the first time the other day with a mindset that I would be buying a dress that is lace.. needless to say, I did the opposite and bought the Adorae by Sottero and Midgley. http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=adorae&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=15&style=JSM1307 Its supposed to be coming in April.. I ordered it from a boutique in Massachusetts when I went dress shopping with family (born & raised, but now living in AL because my fiance is in the military). I won't get to try it on until May..but it'll be worth the wait
  3. Hi Ladies - So its my first time posting here, and I've been going back and forth between booking our destination wedding at The Royal or Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana.. your reviews keep me wondering if I should have our wedding at The Royal since they're all raving about the resort.. one big question I have is that we want to have our reception outdoors, but not directly on the beach/grassy area. Any suggestions or links of pictures to other places? Thanks so much.
  4. When she mentioned the preinvoice, it wasn't anything to be done right away.. she told me to take our time making our decisions but she would close off our date.. I really like working with her so far. Have any past brides or anyone that has been to the Jellyfish, what is the area around the restaurant like (safety wise)?
  5. I've been speaking with Mayte, I love how fast she responds to emails. I was just wondering.. are you guys looking to do your ceremony as well as reception here? I'm trying to see what would be more cost effective.. do they give champagne after the ceremony? cost of cake/bouquets, etc.. I know they're not included on their brochure. Also.. I know she told me to make decisions (just an estimate since I have no idea how many guests we will have yet) and she will make a preinvoice and we will have to pay 10%, we can add/remove things later. Just wondering if anyone else has done this yet and how it worked out. Thanks.
  6. My fiance is active military and we've been planning a destination wedding on 11/11/11 since its Veterans day.. starting to see that its booked already in a lot of the places I've really liked.. so it may be changed to 11/12/11.. nothing confirmed yet though.
  7. Hey! I'm in the same boat as you, I haven't posted on any forums yet but I have been constantly doing research to narrow it down to 2 or 3 resorts and then my fiance and I will choose. I've gotten a lot of information by looking at reviews/making a list of what is important to us. My fiance has even gone as far as to say that he is going to put up the resorts on a board and throw a dart and that will be our resort (joking of course). I just think the hardest part is to find the resort and then everything will come together. My fiance is in the military (stationed in Georgia, we live in AL), our closest friends and family are all back home in MA.. so we're looking to confirm everything over the holidays and then send out our save the dates. I know we have to be flexible on our date, but we're pretty set on 11/11/11 - its Veterans Day so it will have meaning for us.. so now that has eliminated some resorts as they are booked. I guess you can say its an elimination process as you make your list to narrow it down.. hopefully in the next couple of weeks you & I will have more clarity - Jessica
